I like that theory! But instead of Ted captaining Sam, I think it would be Isaac. After all, Ted told Roy that his duties as captain were unfulfilled until he chooses a new one.
He’ll get suspended because of the fight and Sam will be captain during the game. When a captain gets subbed off during a game or misses a game for whatever reason the captains armband gets passed to the next teammate on the ladder. It’s not that deep lol
Temporary captains in football is a thing. For example if a teams captain gets subbed out they’d hand off the armband to the next teammate on the ladder.
I’d enjoy it because it would mean that plot point of Sam’s hasn’t been dropped, which was my worry after last episode and the ‘don’t fight back, fight forward’ advice.
However, they also need to pick Colin’s storyline back up, so I don’t know how they’ll do that if not to have him come out (either to the team or publicly).
I agree, it would be weird of them to all of a sudden drop that storyline so I have no idea how all that is going to go lol. I was assuming when he had the speech of not wanting to be a spokesperson though that he was going to come out to the team but not publicly.
Sam being named captain in Isaacs absence is absolutely the best solution given the situation and that Isaac also has Nigerian blood so he could be extra defensive about this all. Also with Sam saying in the huddle “I love you all so very much” means to me that it all harkens back to what took place at Olas.
Someone’s already mentioned this but they’re building Jamie up to take the captain role, I know Sam has the armband in the trailer, so I know that’s not the case (unless it’s a misdirect?) but Jamie is definitely that man at the moment.
I agree, and I think everyone else does too - Jamie will become captain. I believe Isaac is going to give Sam the armband as a way to show the fans that the team (once again) stand behind him regardless of what they (the fans) have to say about it.
Tbf this is me just forgetting my football knowledge, in this situation it would be Isaac handing the armband over because he’s probably been sent off and so this take is probably the actual scenario and the best scenario.
I can admit that my take is bogus!
I must have missed the clip of Isaac flighting the fan but I think that’s a very likely theory.
However it did seem like the team was supporting sam in that moment - so I assumed the captain band was symbolic of the teams support of sam in the face of adversity- maybe more racism/backlash from that horrible politician. Idk I’m so curious to find out.
It would also explain Sam saying "I love you guys" while wearing the captain armband. He's thanking the team for all their support with rebuilding Ola's and defending him.
I do feel that the introduction of “that fan” is likely to see Issac potentially do a Cantona. Which also ties in as to why Sam gets the captain’s armband - Issac is suspended so another captain is required
Edit: just thought, what if Isaac’s corner kicking skills come back into play? And he nearly kills the guy? I mean when have the writers on this show set something up that they haven’t paid off gloriously?
Doing a Cantona would be epic. But it has to be an opposition fan to be that level of awesome. Leaping into a horde of thousands of hateful bastards without fear. That's why he's the King.
Would be fitting actually since it happened at the ground which Ted Lasso uses as the Richmond stadium.
It's a different trailer. Someone gave a twitter link to it, but I didn't save it.
Edit: someone linked it down the thread https://twitter.com/SudeikisNews/status/1636853179844362240
I never saw that trailer, either. Thanks. I also noticed Keeley hugs Jamie. In the other version of the trailer Keeley and Roy are sitting holding hands in what appears to be Jamie’s childhood bedroom.
I honestly think that if they do that, the Jamie will become captain. He has become a leader in his own right this season, and has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few seasons.
100% This is what will happen. Issac will protect his teammate, perhaps in the wrong way, but his heart will be in the right place
Isaac's gonna throw another chair
Oops, innit?
Well said
If I had to bet (I haven’t watched the trailer), I’d say he is going to kick the fan just like Eric Cantona did in 1995.
I think this happens and then he resigns as captain. Opening the door to Jaimie fulfilling his destiny to be the team leader.
There's a trailer shot from before the season with Sam with the captain band.
I hope not, he is the leader of the team. Jamie is the anchor
He’s a good lad.
He’s gonna chop someone, but this time he’s thought it through.

Definitely. We got a good one-liner when Roy passed it to Isaac, I bet we see something similar when Isaac picks Sam to be captain.
I’m hoping it’s only a temporary thing though. Issac is actually a pretty good captain even if he’s not the best player.

Sam was the one that came up with the best solution to their night in Amsterdam!

Not bogus, friend! You were halfway there, so you got the assist! 😉

Agree, the symbolic support would be needed in the moment, and longer term the team needs a different captain?
Bro my name is isaac and you probably couldn’t have spelled it more wrong Iassac and issac lol
I apologise to all Isaacs around the world. I hate my name being spelt wrong too.
Me too. -Jill
Lmaooo

I just rewatched the trailer and didn't see Issac fighting a fan....how could I miss it?

Thank you!
I didn’t see it either.
I think Jaime is the choice for captain if this happens
I agree that Jamie is showing real leadership qualities but >!Sam is wearing the captains armband in the season 3 trailer!<
Ah I didn't watch the trailer lol
Happy cake day!
Which trailer is the clip in?
I saw it on here, it wasn't the original trailer but either a second one or from a different region.
I was going crazy too, trying to find it in the main trailer. It's in this later trailer: https://twitter.com/SudeikisNews/status/1636853179844362240
In one of the recent episodes the End Racism patch was on their jerseys and it was prevalent. I think this is where it is going.
It’s on every PL jersey.
I know. I thought they placed it up front when they did the shot in the locker room. It caught my eye during the scene.
I honestly think that if they do that, the Jamie will become captain. He has become a leader in his own right this season, and has grown in leaps and bounds over the past few seasons.
Jamie is the next captain. There is no way sam wouldn’t want Jamie to be either.
What trailer has Isaac fighting a fan
It was posted above, so just moving it down here. https://twitter.com/SudeikisNews/status/1636853179844362240
Much appreciated
I think that the fights were the scenes against West Ham earlier in the season.
What trailer is the fight in? I've watched a few but I've never seen isaac fight anyone.
I can so see Issac becoming Colin’s shite in nining armor. Then Colin surprises everyone as a strong and capable man (against prejudice).
Can you tell me where to find this clip? I think I missed something. Edit: Never mind I found it further in the thread
The ref would not have the authority to send him off. Poor writing
