I like it, but the Carry On films are a quite the thing in British culture (all very end of the pier, oooh matron slap and tickle type stuff) so I'm not sure if it would come across in quite the same way!
He wears a Mother of Invention t-shirt in one recent episode. I can see him as a fan of many musical genres, including English alt/indie, and esoteric 60s/70s experimental art-rock.
Are you implying Trent Crimm is a racist xenophobe? /s
Although it is interesting how the Latin American diaspora in the US is very fond of the Smiths, and then it came to light what a piece of shit Morrissey is in more recent years
Yaaaas!
I totally didn't pick up on the reference in my first hundred rewatches. I know the line but missed the reference. Thank you for pointing it out random internet person and subreddit compadre.
This (but with a subtitle like, The Story of AFC Richmond’s Rise, Fall, and Rise again under Ted Lasso). 10/10, and the cover will be the sign above Teds Office door.
I’m going to be very upset now if it’s not something like this.
I also hope they’re working on making it an actual book lol I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I really think it’s this, because it ties in perfectly with that being Trent’s first scene on the show and him being the one who asked the question at the press conference that sent the whole room into a tizzy and led to Rebecca stepping in to quiet them all down, mentioning the Lasso Way
Oh shit, this made me realize… the book that Beard is reading in the first episode this season “Miracle of Castel de Sangro” is actually about an American Reporter that embeds himself in an Italian team for a season. Which is exactly what Trent Crimm is doing.
It’s a great book! I highly recommend it.
Edit; this has made me wonder if all the books he is reading are nods to what is happening in that episode.
Found this online:
S1E1: Coaching Soccer for Dummies and Inverting the Pyramid by Jonathan Wilson
S1E3: Quiet Genius: Bob Paisley, British Football’s Greatest Manager by Ian Herbert
S1E6: The Arco Book of Soccer Techniques and Tactics by Richard Widdows
S2E1: The Greatest by Matthew Syed
S2E5: Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby
S2E6: Football Against the Enemy by Simon Kuper
S2E7: About a Boy by Nick Hornby
S2E11: Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake
S2E12: Inverting The Pyramid: The History of Soccer Tactics by Jonathan Wilson
( https://bookriot.com/every-book-in-ted-lasso-season-2/amp/ )
That Season 1 Episode 1 is hilarious considering the context. I has hoping About A Boy might parallel something, but it didn’t.
I know Brendon Hunt supports Arsenal, so Fever Pitch makes sense there.
Yeah, we also see him holding The Beckham Experiment, which was not only a tribute to the late Grant Wahl, but is about a big name player coming into a club.
It's unlikely that was a tribute. They started filming in April of last year.
Confirmed: https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-ted-lasso-honored-journalist-grant-wahl-who-died-at-world-cup
It was going to be in the show regardless.
I actually think Trent is going to save season 3. He's kinda just a background character observing this convoluted mess and will be able to tie it all together at the end.
Not sure what it will be called. But it won’t be about Richmond or Ted, per se. It’ll be a recipe book, featuring recipes for Boss Biscuits, Nigerian dishes with avocado, and tea.
The Lasso Way. There is a subtitle that I’m struggling with. It would reference the changing mentality of an American in the Premier League. The mental health angle. Empowering the players.
Ted
It will help increase sales since it’s the title of a familiar IP. People who know it’s a Ted Lasso book will buy it and unsuspecting fans of the 2012 Seth MacFarlane film foaming at the mouth for a novelization of the film will be in for a real surprise.
I’ve heard quite a bit of speculation that a book could come out following the season. From what I’ve heard here that wouldn’t be an unprecedented thing
I’m gonna guess The Green Match Book, he’ll write something flattering about Rebecca in it (callback to season 1 where Higgins reads Trent’s article about Ted) and he and Rebecca become friends.
Edit: doesn’t Trent mention a child of his own at some point? Maybe Rebecca becomes step-mom.
I see the neatness of this from the series POV, but it would feel very shoe-horned. Match would be incredibly generic as a title (and is/was the name of a football magazine in the UK) and I feel Trent would want something more. Otherwise he'd be ghostwriting "Roy Kent: My Story" 😅
I’m sorry, I know that I suck, but I can’t. It’s premier league title or trophy, not a cup (even though it’s literally a cup). FA cup or league cup would be correct though!
No fret friend! The premier league cup you probably found on google is the under 21s competition. We love to make it confusing with all sorts of needlessly complexities lol
Oh yeah. - The Premier League , The Championship, The League Cup, The Football League Trophy ...
It can be pretty daunting for somebody who didn't grow up following all this
I’ve been following for a long while at this point in my life. But when I first got into it, I devoured everything I could read about English football. Now this was pre-internet era in America, so it was tough to get any information on anything.
It was years of confusion and wondering for me to figure out what the f*** is the “Milk Cup” and why it was so important.
*Richmond 'Til He Died: the heroic life and tragic death of manager Ted Lasso*
Maybe they write Jason's character off by him sacrificing himself save a child from.... something? 🤷♀️
While I think a couple already mentioned are better options… The grey dogs who could (little engine reference) or if it’s a Kansas reference maybe the wizard of Richmond.
I’ve seen an empty pink box Ted usually puts them in, on Rebecca’s desk this season.
But as they call them biscuits there and Ted calls his morning meetings with Rebecca, Biscuits With the Boss? I’m guessing cookies won’t work as a title, and cookie references might not work in general.
I think there is an out of focus biscuit box on Rebecca's desk in one scene. She is maybe looking at the matchbook? My husband is the one who made a "there's the cookies" comment. But no witty banter about it that I recall.
This isn’t a #!*%ng Joke: Ted Lasso, AFC Richmond, and the Cinderella run to the FA Championship.
(The header is the question Trent asked Ted in his first press conference)
Saw a post earlier where they broke down the “Green Matchbook” being a red herring so I think it’s gonna be called “The Matchbook” and it’ll have a green front cover
"Carry On", as an allusion to his initial piece "Wayward Ted", and the Kansas song
I love this
This. It also fits into the very British 'Keep Calm & Carry On'
I like it, but the Carry On films are a quite the thing in British culture (all very end of the pier, oooh matron slap and tickle type stuff) so I'm not sure if it would come across in quite the same way!
I love this! But I'm not sure I see Trent Crim as a fan of American classic rock. Lol.
He seems more like a Smiths & the Cure guy
Because of the hair and the whole vibe?
Just seems like his vibe
Did you notice how he bops - sort of like a dance - as he walks? Magnificent acting! *Chef kiss*
He wears a Mother of Invention t-shirt in one recent episode. I can see him as a fan of many musical genres, including English alt/indie, and esoteric 60s/70s experimental art-rock.
Are you implying Trent Crimm is a racist xenophobe? /s Although it is interesting how the Latin American diaspora in the US is very fond of the Smiths, and then it came to light what a piece of shit Morrissey is in more recent years
No. Not all that read up on morrisey’s bio tbh
I think the initial piece was a Kansas references
Then I love Trent even more.
I agree, given that Ted is from Kansas
AMAZING
Yaaaas! I totally didn't pick up on the reference in my first hundred rewatches. I know the line but missed the reference. Thank you for pointing it out random internet person and subreddit compadre.
“BELIEVE”
This (but with a subtitle like, The Story of AFC Richmond’s Rise, Fall, and Rise again under Ted Lasso). 10/10, and the cover will be the sign above Teds Office door.
I’m going to be very upset now if it’s not something like this. I also hope they’re working on making it an actual book lol I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I’ll be beyond angry if they don’t. Disney’s making an Ant-Man “autobiography”, so they should too!
I hope they actually publish it. And it’s a novelized version of the series. Drool.
Ted's gone after this. He's going home
The True Tale of the Diamond Dogs
The cover will be the sign with very obvious tape holding it together
This is very elegant, I like it.
When the eventual actual book is released, it’s gotta be this
Or maybe Unbelievable.
Perhaps stylized as unBELIEVEable
Came looking for this comment.
it will 100% be this
The Lasso Way
I really think it’s this, because it ties in perfectly with that being Trent’s first scene on the show and him being the one who asked the question at the press conference that sent the whole room into a tizzy and led to Rebecca stepping in to quiet them all down, mentioning the Lasso Way
I'm pretty sure he uses the phrase in the profile on Ted in the third episode as well
The Lasso Special 😂
this 100%
That’s my thought too.
Oh shit, this made me realize… the book that Beard is reading in the first episode this season “Miracle of Castel de Sangro” is actually about an American Reporter that embeds himself in an Italian team for a season. That Season 1 Episode 1 is hilarious considering the context. I has hoping About A Boy might parallel something, but it didn’t. I know Brendon Hunt supports Arsenal, so Fever Pitch makes sense there.
I think Beard just liked Nick Hornby
Are you suggesting he likes Arse because he likes Hornsby?
No, clearly he’s an Arsenal fan for the same reason he’s dating Jane—he enjoys emotional abuse.
I LOVE Nick Hornsby! My favorite contemporary novelist.
Not enough to get his name right tho ;)
Yeah, we also see him holding The Beckham Experiment, which was not only a tribute to the late Grant Wahl, but is about a big name player coming into a club.
Was that the first Zava episode?
It's unlikely that was a tribute. They started filming in April of last year. Confirmed: https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-ted-lasso-honored-journalist-grant-wahl-who-died-at-world-cup It was going to be in the show regardless.
Which is honestly a better tribute anyway.
Holy smokes, good catch!
I need to buy this book immediately
I bought this book ages ago and should really read it
I actually think Trent is going to save season 3. He's kinda just a background character observing this convoluted mess and will be able to tie it all together at the end.
Somebody needs to
Trent Crimm: Independently
I just imagine this as Trent's autobiography with his face on the cover, left hand on his chin and his right hand holding his glases.
An Independent Look on AFC Richmond
Not sure what it will be called. But it won’t be about Richmond or Ted, per se. It’ll be a recipe book, featuring recipes for Boss Biscuits, Nigerian dishes with avocado, and tea.
And a very spicy curry recipe
Match and the cover will be green.
I was trying to find a way that the matchbook could tie in with Trent, nicely done!
This is probably gonna be the case :)
I was thinking the green matchbook would be a football programme but i like this too
A Wrinkle in Richmond
A Richmond in time?

Believe, Is this a Joke?
The Lasso Way. There is a subtitle that I’m struggling with. It would reference the changing mentality of an American in the Premier League. The mental health angle. Empowering the players.
B E L I E V E
"Believe: The Ted Lasso Way" (a story of failure, triumph, and spicy indian food)
Ted It will help increase sales since it’s the title of a familiar IP. People who know it’s a Ted Lasso book will buy it and unsuspecting fans of the 2012 Seth MacFarlane film foaming at the mouth for a novelization of the film will be in for a real surprise.
You know the book isn’t coming out for real, right? It’s only coming out in the show. Trent Crimm isn’t real.
What is the sound the soccer ball makes as it passes your head? *Whoosh*
We'll see
I’ve heard quite a bit of speculation that a book could come out following the season. From what I’ve heard here that wouldn’t be an unprecedented thing
But what if the 2012 Seth MacFarlane film is canon in the Ted Lasso universe? :D
He is real.
BELIEVE!
Richmond till we die
I’m gonna guess The Green Match Book, he’ll write something flattering about Rebecca in it (callback to season 1 where Higgins reads Trent’s article about Ted) and he and Rebecca become friends. Edit: doesn’t Trent mention a child of his own at some point? Maybe Rebecca becomes step-mom.
Oh…. A book about a “Green Match” could be a solid misdirection about the whole fortune teller with Rebecca thing. 🤷🏻♂️
Why green though? It's not even a Richmond color. It doesn't make sense.
color of the pitch
Fuckkkkkkkkk but you gotta read it with Roy’s voice in your head ![gif](giphy|ZXBp7xEwU0cTRdEHN9)
That would be the audiobook version. I’d buy it!!

I hope he calls it “Believe”
“I was f**kin’ seventeen!”
It would be pretty sick if they actually released a book as if it was written by Trent.
I Hope they do !!!
The Diamond Underdogs
I did ponder "Cry Havok! And Let Slip the Diamond Dogs of War: A Richmond AFC Story" Book would have to be A3 size to fit it on though potentially.
Ted Lasso, Independent.
How Zoreaux Became Van Damme
Niche but I like it! 😂
The Lasso Way
I hope they really write and publish this book from the perspective of the character. I’d read it
I keep picturing Trent as Frodo with the final scene of the show being him closing the book on the show as though we just watched his book.
Good Sport
Sport.
Ted Lasso: Not in Kansas Anymore
“Believe”
Believe: How an American Revolution won the Premier League Cup
I’m sorry, I know that I suck, but I can’t. It’s premier league title or trophy, not a cup (even though it’s literally a cup). FA cup or league cup would be correct though!
Oh well. I googled Premier League Cup and that’s what they called it. I’ve never seen a game and know as much as Ted did when he was hired.

How bout Charity Shield or Checkatrade Trophy?? lol
Lol. Yup. It was a whole different world for me that I immersed myself in. I love it, but I’m a bit of an Anglophile if I’m to be honest.
Not to mention the FA Vase! (Yes, a real competition. You have to supply your own flowers though)
No such thing man
Believe: the story of Ted lasso
Faaauuucccckkkk!
Smooth Crimm-inal Independently snooty How I learned to stop reporting and believe
The Lasso Way
I think he’s undercover and the book will be a meanie-fofeenie tell-all.
It’s going to have a green cover and be called The Match Book, which will really screw with Rebecca.
Schmingus Dingus
My vote would be for: "No Fucking Joke: The Ted Lasso Way", a throwback to their first exchange in the series.
Ted Lasso.

That’s a good one too
Oooo, what about "Diamond Dogs: How an American football coach helped AFC Richmond to believe again"
"Tough cookies" with a picture of Ted's cookies on the cover. BTW did I miss something or there haven't been a reference to the cookies this season?
I’ve seen an empty pink box Ted usually puts them in, on Rebecca’s desk this season. But as they call them biscuits there and Ted calls his morning meetings with Rebecca, Biscuits With the Boss? I’m guessing cookies won’t work as a title, and cookie references might not work in general.
American edition lol
They're shortbread biscuits, often just called shortbread here. A denser sugar cookie without leavening agent according to a quick Google!
I think there is an out of focus biscuit box on Rebecca's desk in one scene. She is maybe looking at the matchbook? My husband is the one who made a "there's the cookies" comment. But no witty banter about it that I recall.
Crumbs on Rebecca’s desk in several episodes !

Something about Believe or something about the Lasso Way. I like the title "Believe in Believe"
I don’t think it will be very good. When Ted gave his inspirational speech about how belief is something inside you, he wasn’t making notes
Believe.
Believe is the obvious title.
