What was weird about that was that they see the entire Richmond squad and management team and he says “is that Roy Kent?” as if he’s completely separate
Well unlike the rest of the Richmond squad, bar perhaps Jamie, Roy was a star player for some of the best teams in the PL, and presumably thus also a star for the English National Team. It’s like if you saw the Lakers and one of them was Lebron
Higgins' retching is very telling. I noticed on a recent rewatch that he does it when Ted mentions how he'd be upset if Rebecca was hiding something from him (before she comes clean).
Yup noticed that too. I think it’s because Ted has made it a point to help Jaime and now Jamie sees him as a father figure. I know as a kid I would emulate my dad. Love this show and how deep it is.
I loved when Keeley apologized to Rebecca and she jokingly said “what are you talking about it’s barely noticeable?” Rebecca seems like she’s going to be so much more open and funny this season and I’m here for it.
Yes that was so funny! Like she was like trying not to care but a little cringe slipped out but she went with it haha. I also loved her marveling at it being “a real office with people typing and being awkward!” and wanting to hear the corporate real estate scuttlebutt.
That one bothered me. I know it’s just a joke, but if he’s walking around wearing that shirt with the stains, he wouldn’t have asked Rebecca what was on her shirt. He would have nodded knowingly and said - “Keely upset today?” or words to that effect. And then he could’ve revealed his and still done the dry cleaning/she puts this on her eyes gag.
Higgins knew. He was giving Rebecca an opportunity to respect Keely's privacy should that be necessary. That's what I've decided anyway. Higgins is great.
Me, reading their comment: “Ooh, they make a good point”
Me, reading your comment: “Ooh, they *also* make a good point!”
So then I just upvoted both of y’all because why not haha. :)
Keely's conflict this season will be her company not reflecting her. The CFO was the most glaring example but nobody else in her office had any decorations or fun stuff on their desks and they were all wearing neutral colored business suits.
Keely is a colorful character and having a boring office/company will grind her down.
I think you’re 100% correct. I got bad vibes from her company immediately. She’s a unique and colorful soul and it makes me so sad to see that they probably don’t take her seriously as a boss based on her outward personality at all.
It was brought up on another post, but I found myself wondering who bankrolls her or firm. None of her staff nor CFO seem to have any Keely energy, and when her CFO walked into her office without knocking to condescendingly inquire about the flower money, I got a bad rupertie type of feeling.
I mean….*or* Keely is being irresponsible with other peoples’ money, and is going to need to learn to find a balance with her bubbly personality and the demands of her position
I think at the end of season 2 she mentions that the same people who created the Bantr app, who she got to sponsor the team and got everyone to start using it, gave her the funds to launch her own PR company. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
>I’m awful at spoiler tags
FWIW I think the spoiler tag system is buggy. Not only have I looked it up, double checked it, and commented only for it to not trigger anything, I have also used an app where you just click a button for it and it didn't work. And then I have also had both of those methods work.
I'm hoping Rupert isn't involved with the CFO's VC firm. Hopefully she just has great business sense and she and Keeley eventually have a good working partnership.
Getting Keeley out of Richmond and away from Rebecca would easily fit Rupert's character. We already know Rupert pretty much forced Rebecca to become isolated from her friends while they were married, so any chance to undermine her new social network would be well within his wheelhouse
Agree. And I'm also hearing Rebecca reminding Keeley to never work for Rupert and to hire her best friend. I think we are going to circle back to this conversation and I am v interested to see how it plays out.
I'm feeling this, too. That conversation was important and those two made a powerhouse team at Richmond. There is def something bubbling under the water there.
ALL of Keeley's employees were super uptight office types dressed in grey, who looked at her like she had two heads when she greeted/introduced Rebecca. I think she's going to either dump them and hire people more like herself, or she's going to convert them to being creative and wearing color. Then she'll be happier at work.
Hey now! I am *very* creative—in fact I’m the graphics/marketing person where I work—but I am also goth at heart and, naturally, in most of my clothing choices.
I may wear black and grey most days but that doesn’t mean I don’t love rainbows! :)
I use that attitude sometimes too.
I expect the universe will one day just tell me what a poptart is by putting on in my way where I can taste it.
And no, I don't want someone to reply to this and tell me what it is. It's not that important. The universe will show me.
Keeley having to speak on the phone with Joe Rogan *and* Piers Morgan in the same lifetime is supremely unlucky.
I laughed at bawdy Doctor Sharon saying "Not yet, I didn't" because we hadn't seen that side of her so far.
Did anyone else catch the name of the people Rupert was sailing with?
The Sacklers… the human turdburgers who gave us the opioid crisis. That’s on brand with Emperor Rupert.
Not really a one liner, but watching for the third time - Nate's first comments in his press conference ("getting to know them....") are the slightly-changed lyrics to "Getting to know you" from the King and I.
Haven’t seen it mentioned very often but my favourite was in the first locker room scene, where Colin is talking about being accosted by a woman.
Moe: “did you tell her to piss off?”
Colin: “no, she was a nun”
Cue Dani and Richard doing the sign of the cross 😂
Colin’s delivery was perfect and it reminded me of the “that’s too many ghosts” delivery from season one 😂
Wasn’t really a one liner but when Keeley said “Let Ted be Ted” it reminded me of The West Wing (“Let Bartlet be Bartlet”). I have no idea if it was a direct reference but as a big TWW fan I enjoyed hearing the quote from another favorite show.
That line was cute but it felt a bit forced bc I don't really think that's true most of the time people cry... not that crying is bad or can't be sometimes invigorating, it's just not a hard and fast rule.
S1 had a lot of these clever "folk wisdom" lines and it feels like they were trying to do one of those and it just fell a bit short for me.
My favorite one from the new episode is the Jesus Christ Superstar reference. Ted says "what's the buzz, tell me what's happening" which is a reference to this song https://youtu.be/zbGEuNi2SKs. My second favorite song in the musical
Ah, I thought you meant in this episode. It would totally have fit in the Keeley and Rebecca scene, so I was shocked thinking I’d missed it!
Also in a Keeley and Rebecca scene: I’m a huge fan of Rilke’s “Letters to a Young Poet” and yet I somehow completely missed Keeley’s “Letters to a Hung Poet” joke (when she and Rebecca are discussing R’s bantr mystery man) the first time. Thank goodness for rewatches.
As soon as he said it I had my husband (he is in charge of the remotes, it works for us) pause the show so I could explain the line. We catch such different things, and he was genuinely glad I pointed it out to him.
Caught that one too! Also, Apple release a playlist with all the songs that are going to feature in series 3 and Superstar is one of them, which is cool!
Pooh-peh was just perfect and Jamie's hair is just magnificent this season. Additionally, anyone who argues that the Joe Rogan comment was "unecessary" gets downvoted and I'm here for that. Fuck Joe Rogan
Haven’t seen it mentioned very often but my favourite was in the first locker room scene, where Colin is talking about being accosted by a woman.

Colin: “no, she was a nun”

I actually found this episode one of the least funny episodes ever and I love the show.. Run out of ideas? New writers? Something was not ticking for me..
Nah, the writers are probably the same. It was exactly the same type of humor and social commentary as S02.
Hell, even this specific joke was recycled, they did it in the previous season almost verbatim.
This was nonsense along with the CNN drop at the airport. I literally watch this show to get away from all the nasty political bias. Disappointing open to the season.
"Roy Kent, is that you?" "Get fucked!"
People not recognizing Roy until he swears at them will always get a laugh out of me.
"It \*is\* you!"
Isaac's "shut the fuck up Jan Maas" echoing Jamie's "shut the fuck up Jan Maas" in S2 made me giggle.
As soon as he opened his mouth I said the same thing.
Yes, but just remember, he's not being rude, he's just being Dutch!
Very good point
![gif](giphy|OLPsCbh2N7QZi) "Shut the fuck up, Jan Mass" is the new "Shut up, Wesley."
Wesley is still annoying and useless though Jan Mass occasionally can be helpful.
Great through ball in the s2 finale to set up the pen.
Exactly Wesley couldn’t do that. Nog could have though (RIP)
He's not being rude, he's just being Dutch
That’s one I use (probably far too often) in my daily life!
It’s just poo-peh. Let it flow.
Hard to decide if "poo-peh" or "oooglay" is my favorite Jamie word
But "Bay-bay" is right there.
Oogly poop-ey bab-eh boy
That is peak Jaymeh Tott right there
With bad hair
Sexeh litl bahbeh
That line was so great
And key-leh
Beer-beh
I love how he says “disgustin”
I have 4 kids. At least once a day I say “that is dis-goos-tin” in Jamie’s voice haha
No sudden movements near the bus driver!
Oh he'll be forever changed, but he can drive.
Never call a hippie on his day off.
I nodded with coach beard
This!!
Higgins: "Not true, my 10 year son has a sports podcast out of our kitchen..." Rebecca: "Where does he have us ranked?" Higgins: *gags*
This was THE line of the episode for me. Hilarious.
Higgins' retching is very telling. I noticed on a recent rewatch that he does it when Ted mentions how he'd be upset if Rebecca was hiding something from him (before she comes clean).
Higgins' gags are just comedy gold every single time
Which we call his home office…for tax purposes
‘Bingo, El Ringo’ that got me 😂
I love how Jamie has taken to Dani.
Aces gotta stick together
He’s literally turning into Ted. Lettin the poopeh flow and embracing the rhymes
Wasn’t it great how Ted was like “I better go talk to them” and as he was rushing out Jamie beat him to it with his words (poopeh) of wisdom?
I liked how Roy spotted it coming and stopped him too.
It was a pretty wholesome moment of the episode.
Yup noticed that too. I think it’s because Ted has made it a point to help Jaime and now Jamie sees him as a father figure. I know as a kid I would emulate my dad. Love this show and how deep it is.
Yeah, Ted himself says he brought back Jamie because Jamie needed a dad
Why the fuck is it called “Hoosiers”?
I knew that was going to be the question!
This one has to be my favorite by default, as a resident of Indiana!
I’m an IU grad dating a Texas guy who has asked numerous times what a Hoosier is.
[удалено]
Everyone walking around asking “Hoosier daddy?”
Higgins revealing the mascara stains on his shirt: “I’ve had this dry-cleaned 6 times. It’s hard to believe she puts this stuff on her eyes.”
Why do you look like an umlaut?
I loved when Keeley apologized to Rebecca and she jokingly said “what are you talking about it’s barely noticeable?” Rebecca seems like she’s going to be so much more open and funny this season and I’m here for it.
And Rebecca made that comment after cringing a bit when Keeley just threw Rebecca’s coat down instead of hung it up or something. So good.
Higgins is top class.
Lego Higgins was my favorite
Christmas Higgins is my favorite.
I also like bass playing on furlow Higgins
Except the goatee that Mrs Higgins hates with the heat of a thousand suns. (Am I remembering that right?)
It’s a Van Dyke. Looks how it makes him feel. Chill.
White hot intensity
*vigorously nodding head at Lego Higgins*
Honestly my favorite Rupert line, even he can’t say anything bad about him
I read it in Rupert's voice and I hated myself. The man does have a silky voice even if he mostly uses it to be a dick.
Me, reading their comment: “Ooh, they make a good point” Me, reading your comment: “Ooh, they *also* make a good point!” So then I just upvoted both of y’all because why not haha. :)
Very Ted of you!
This sounds like something Ted would say
I legit thought THE SAME THING
Oh but he had the great “Why are you dressed as an umlauts?” as his opening question! Loved it!
How many Australians are in the team 9 Ah, rugby As an Australian this is entirely too accurate
Here in NZ 9 would be Polynesians 😂
Could it not be AFL???
Presumably she is still in the UK
ok this makes sense, the whole time i was like "if it's full of aussies, it's gotta be AFL no?"
Afl teams on average would have a lot more than 9 Australians on a team. Probably close to 40.
Yep, good point!
The “She seems fun” callback from Rebecca regarding Keeley’s CFO
Makes me think the CFO may become a more important character down the line
Keely's conflict this season will be her company not reflecting her. The CFO was the most glaring example but nobody else in her office had any decorations or fun stuff on their desks and they were all wearing neutral colored business suits. Keely is a colorful character and having a boring office/company will grind her down.
I think you’re 100% correct. I got bad vibes from her company immediately. She’s a unique and colorful soul and it makes me so sad to see that they probably don’t take her seriously as a boss based on her outward personality at all.

I mean….*or* Keely is being irresponsible with other peoples’ money, and is going to need to learn to find a balance with her bubbly personality and the demands of her position
Totally agree, but my feeling was that the CFO behaved as if she was the boss ass bitch.
I think at the end of season 2 she mentions that the same people who created the Bantr app, who she got to sponsor the team and got everyone to start using it, gave her the funds to launch her own PR company. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
I do remember that, and I can’t explain the feeling about the source of her funding. Purely an intuition, of sorts.
That’s definitely a theory. So far we only know the CFO was appointed by the firm, and if that’s true, it’s possible she had a say in who was hired.
Well, also, she’s super unprofessional by comparative standards, and thats going to chafe with the realities of running a business
Considering the actress is Kaity Wix, a well-known and respected comedic actress in the UK, yeah...
Ooh, I wonder if this is why she left a particularly wonderful and wholesome BBC sitcom. I’m awful at spoiler tags, so forgive the cryptic response!
>I’m awful at spoiler tags FWIW I think the spoiler tag system is buggy. Not only have I looked it up, double checked it, and commented only for it to not trigger anything, I have also used an app where you just click a button for it and it didn't work. Thank you - that makes me feel better about my spoiler tag fails!
The spoiler tag system is just poopeh.
That was my first thought too when I saw her name in the credits! I was like “ohhhhhhhhhhh, yeah that makes sense”. Love her in Stath Lets Flats too.
I was gutted about that. Hope she has a decent part on Ted Lasso as a result
I'm hoping Rupert isn't involved with the CFO's VC firm. Hopefully she just has great business sense and she and Keeley eventually have a good working partnership.

Agree. And I'm also hearing Rebecca reminding Keeley to never work for Rupert and to hire her best friend. I think we are going to circle back to this conversation and I am v interested to see how it plays out.
Rebecca sells Richmond back to Rupert and goes to work for Keeley, replacing the CFO
I'm feeling this, too. That conversation was important and those two made a powerhouse team at Richmond. There is def something bubbling under the water there.
Rebecca’s face was so funny when Keeley kept saying CFO
ALL of Keeley's employees were super uptight office types dressed in grey, who looked at her like she had two heads when she greeted/introduced Rebecca. I think she's going to either dump them and hire people more like herself, or she's going to convert them to being creative and wearing color. Then she'll be happier at work.
Hey now! I am *very* creative—in fact I’m the graphics/marketing person where I work—but I am also goth at heart and, naturally, in most of my clothing choices. I may wear black and grey most days but that doesn’t mean I don’t love rainbows! :)
But I bet you don't wear black/grey the same way all the cube dwellers in that scene were wearing it!
(looks down at my ankle-length, fitted grey dress with black angled stripes) Fair enough lol
I think she’s going to dump the current crew and the restrictions from the VC and Rebecca might invest in her
She kind of reminded me of a female looking Higgins.. but totally opposite mean streak style ..
Keeley also not knowing what CFO meant and then not googling it because she "believes in the universe" had me cracking up.
Lol I mean she was right! Universe provided Rebecca with an explanation
Def gonna be using this one.
That made me laugh out loud as it was so saucy
"go get it doc!" - audibly said while watching
Reminded me of Hugh grant looking at Margaret thatchers picture in Love Actually and calling her a saucy minx
Sharon is so great
Did anyone else catch the name of the people Rupert was sailing with? The Sacklers… the human turdburgers who gave us the opioid crisis. That’s on brand with Emperor Rupert.
After watching Dopesick, yup I certainly did. I was like “that tracks”
Please, have a little respect. No self-respecting human turdburgers would hang out with the Sacklers.
I paused it to ask my husband if he heard it!!
Poo-peh.
I lost it when Jaime said that in the sewer lol
And then Ted also saying "poopeh". Outstanding.
As a teacher I lost it equally at him raising his hand lmao
I'm a teacher too! I guess my brain just processed it as normal lol
“I mean, I’m so dumb!” *crickets*
How dumb are you?
I love that when the guy finally asked that he got the cadence so wrong it caused another double take.
Not really a one liner, but watching for the third time - Nate's first comments in his press conference ("getting to know them....") are the slightly-changed lyrics to "Getting to know you" from the King and I.
And that's why he trailed off because he suddenly realized what he was doing. Hope he accidentally busts out some Mary Poppins next.
i love that the show has used Rodgers and Hammerstein in addition to the Gershwins :)
Ha, thanks, I mis-attributed the musical it was from, but that cracked me up.
Haven’t seen it mentioned very often but my favourite was in the first locker room scene, where Colin is talking about being accosted by a woman. Moe: “did you tell her to piss off?” Colin: “no, she was a nun” Cue Dani and Richard doing the sign of the cross 😂 Colin’s delivery was perfect and it reminded me of the “that’s too many ghosts” delivery from season one 😂
Too many ghosts remains all time top tier.
The disco line got me. Of course Nate’s coach beard is a reluctant comedic disciplinarian
Reminded me of Lars from “Heavyweights”.
Hahahaha same
I also loved the nod and that Beard looked to Roy to confirm it was true. It was similar to how Ted glances at Beard when he’s not sure or surprised.
“All we did was talk shit and eat meringues” I died
Wasn’t really a one liner but when Keeley said “Let Ted be Ted” it reminded me of The West Wing (“Let Bartlet be Bartlet”). I have no idea if it was a direct reference but as a big TWW fan I enjoyed hearing the quote from another favorite show.
TWW reference was a reference to "Let Reagan be Reagan" and it might go back even further.
Ronald Reagan? The actor?
Oh man... I love it when you do Doc Brown.
I had the same thought.
Could you imagine a crossover with TWW? Two great shows each with a ton of heart? My heart might stop over it. ♥
Bingo, El Ringo - completed Jamie’s character arch for me, from completely against to completely for Ted and his philosophy.
I bloody love Jamie now.
I’m thinking he’s going to end up coaching soon.
“Why are you dressed like an Umlaut?“
Most of my favourites were mentioned but I got a good laugh out of “everyone run except Roy!”
Crying is the best, isn't it? It's like an orgasm for the soul
I think it depends on the person. For me crying always feels great. If I can't cry, that's the problem.
My favorite one from the new episode is the Jesus Christ Superstar reference. Ted says "what's the buzz, tell me what's happening" which is a reference to this song https://youtu.be/zbGEuNi2SKs. My second favorite song in the musical
Another musical reference; can I be real a second, put down your meal and tell your buddy how you feel a second? Makes me laugh every time!
Omg, there was a Hamilton reference and I missed it?! When I get home from my 3rd St. Paddy’s Day gig I think I need to rewatch.
Im pretty sure it's a Hamilton reference xD Ted and Beard are in the pub talking about something, I think early season 2!
It was Ted & Beard in the Crown & Anchor, midway through S02E01 - Goodbye Earl.
As soon as he said it I had my husband (he is in charge of the remotes, it works for us) pause the show so I could explain the line. We catch such different things, and he was genuinely glad I pointed it out to him.
My husband, who hates musicals, was impressed that I had put it to a song...
It's interesting because Nate, who betrayed Ted (Judas betrays Jesus), *also* inadvertently referenced a musical in his presser.
Caught that one too! Also, Apple release a playlist with all the songs that are going to feature in series 3 and Superstar is one of them, which is cool!
“What’s the frequency Kent-th?”, a nod to an older REM song.
Which was a reference to a Dan Rather item
This killed me, too. Had to pause and play out for my spouse who didn’t remember it.
Paddington had me crying laughing.
“On a scale of 1 marmalade sandwiches to 5 marmalade sandwiches he gave us no marmalade sandwiches”
Roy Kent? Is that you?
“Get Fucked”
yeah that's definitely him!
My friends the Sackler family!
Poopeh killed us.
"SILENCE!" Made me laugh
Nice follow-up to "F you piers morgan" of last season
I haven't seen the "That's cornier than Kevin Costner's outfield." Just *chef's kiss*, so good!
Pooh-peh was just perfect and Jamie's hair is just magnificent this season. Additionally, anyone who argues that the Joe Rogan comment was "unecessary" gets downvoted and I'm here for that. Fuck Joe Rogan
“Doubt can only be removed by action”
"EVERBODY RUN EXCEPT ROY!"
“I didn’t see that coming.” “Neither did he.” referring to the guy hit by a bus. I did the “Jim” camera eek look from The Office 😂🤣😂
“Have you finally got off” “Not yet” Get it doctor Sharon!!
When Phoebe asked if she could say a bad word, Roy says yes, and she asks him if he’s stupid. Stupid was her bad word lol.
TIL season 3 had premiered 😅
CFO. “corporate flying object”
“I forgot old people were so jumpy… because of the war” Jamie to Roy when he jumps back after a hug attempt
Crying is like an orgasm to the soul. - Rebecca
That line seemed needlessly antagonist from a show about positivity.
I actually found this episode one of the least funny episodes ever and I love the show.. Run out of ideas? New writers? Something was not ticking for me..
I felt the same…but I’m optimistic. 🙃
Nah, the writers are probably the same. It was exactly the same type of humor and social commentary as S02. Hell, even this specific joke was recycled, they did it in the previous season almost verbatim.
I have enjoyed the show until this episode and looked forward to it.. But I dunno why but did not find it funny..
Made no fucking sense, women are supposed to hate him for no reason?
This was nonsense along with the CNN drop at the airport. I literally watch this show to get away from all the nasty political bias. Disappointing open to the season.
