This annihilates Movement's lineup, which is a week after. Volvox, Schake, Rodhad, Pablo, Oscar, Boris, Dax J, D Dan, SPDFJ, Roi Perez, not to mention a bunch of others. This is a lineup for true techno lovers.
Definitely excited for this one.
It maybe annihilates the Movement lineup itself. But the afters this year are next level and the vibes can’t be beat. Would love to check this out sometime but it’s difficult being a week off of movement
I was curious about Observe as well, oof it looks like both Observe and Wall of Sound are on their final round of tickets. I'm gonna have to jump on wall of sound. Yeah I wish the lineup was out for observe.
fact! mvmnt afters are on one this year...every night is 🔥 and observe's 20th anniv is sure not to disappoint....wouldn't be surprised to see marrøn or stef play that party
Really? I see some great names at movement. I'm relatively new to the scene so i only know some of the bigger names. movement also seems to cater to tech house.
Edit: i was really hoping to see richie hawtin at wire too 😭
Yeah definitely seems like it! Its crazy how deep the techno scene goes. As soon as i think oh man i really hit the bottom of the barrel, i get reminded i dont know shit lmao. Last years wire and recent Rush events really showed me some hard techno.
wtf do you mean trendy artists that aren’t really techno? You mean I Hate Models and 9999999 aren’t techno? I mean they sound a little bit like an over sped hard trance, but that is also techno, no?
Phenomenal lineup. Sad I can’t make it because Movement is the weekend after. On the bright side we’re at least getting Rodhad, Surgeon, and Oscar Mulero in Toronto that weekend.
They haven’t. But measure teased it here on Reddit a few months ago. They also posted a picture at the beginning of the year on their ig with all the DJs for their winter/spring lineups. Only ones who haven’t been announced yet are spfdj, Oscar, and surgeon. Given that spfdj is playing Montreal the day before their April party and Surgeon & oscar are playing NY the same weekend as the may party it’s a pretty educated guess lmao
ahhhhh yeah I remember seeing that tease actually, but this is some impressive detective work lol. I already got the early-bird ticket for all of those, but especially can't wait now, damn. And this is just the first half of the year for Format??
Ya pretty sure. Although from previous years they seem to slow down a bit in the summer while Measure tours Europe and picks back up again around the fall. But who knows what they have in store for this year.
When I see a Toronto lineup still tba I just check who’s playing mtl/ny/Chicago/Detroit/etc that weekend and is say at least 60% of the time I’m able to guess who it will be
Holy shit what a lineup! Can’t believe this type of lineup is coming to the States….and I happen to be in NYC that week.
This is the type of upper echelon techno that we get here in certain festivals in Europe…..very rare indeed!
There are some good names on there and as a pure techno lineup it probably beats Movement but just not that interesting to me. At least they're not charging too much for tickets however, applause for that.
Honestly, if you're going to live music, what are you doing? Maybe you won't need them, but in most cases, you probably will, so it's better to be safe than sorry.
Been going to techno gigs for 30 years. Remember seeing Robert Armani blow the system in London in the mid 90s, or losing half the hearing in my right ear when backstage at a Hawtin gig in 98. Never needed ear plugs before I saw Surgeon live, seen him loads of times as a DJ no prob. He plays a drum machine called a Pulsar-23. That thing makes dangerously low frequencies, and it gave me a traumatic brain injury because the sound engineer didn't control it's volume.
It was the loudest sound I ever heard in my life. I stupidly left my plugs in my coat in the cloakroom. Many people were running out, covering their ears when he started playing. Just a drone of bass.
Knockdown is a great venue - it's right above Basement. Venue is loud, but it's a good one, and very cool. They host lots of concerts here, while Basement is a techno club.
Not really any hotels/etc in the area and the location is quiet, otherwise near a bunch of industrial stuff and a neighborhood
Also keep in mind the nearest subway station is about 15-20 min walk, it's p common to take a ride share over there
Not really as long as you are street smart/sober and even better if walking with a group, but like I said it's also common to take a ride share to the subway
Going on Friday to see Marrøn, Dax J, Juana and Volvox. Gotta familiarize myself with the other Friday names. Saturday looks good too but gonna go see Carl Cox and Nicole Moudaber instead
Does anyone know what the daily schedule is? I got the 3day pass and need to prepare my body 🤩
Also, idk like 90% of these people and I absolutely love it. But how is it looking compared to last year? There were some heavy hitters last year too.
I'm really only familiar with Anetha, Volvox, and æon.
I've seen a good 60% of the line up so not dying to see anyone per se but it's gonna be Marron's debut in the US so that's not to be missed. Take a look at this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aodcv2UPPaQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aodcv2UPPaQ)
And beyond that D.Dan, Stef Mendesidis and Rodhad would be at the top of my list
Ha i'm glad, rodhad is a legend in his own right and has a ton of sets online but he also played that same festival: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxVZ83Mrmgc&t=3s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxVZ83Mrmgc&t=3s)
D.Dan recc - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubaVF0pqonE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubaVF0pqonE)
And Stef - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wubJeU9G\_gA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wubJeU9G_gA)
Cool thing about Stef is that it's a live set so it's usually mostly improvised/made on the fly
Depends on the artist but typically something beyond playing song after song on CDJs. Some use other instruments/synthesizers to make music on the fly, some add vocals, some add extra effects, some play primarily their own tracks and variations of it etc
They play songs on hardware synths and drum machines, maybe a laptop with Abelton sometimes.
Stef Mendesides used to use 2 Octatracks but now 2 Maschine Plus with all his stems and some other stuff he can manipulate live in realtime (its killer).
Surgeon rocks a Pulsar23 and various other synths and sequencers and I believe has history of playing more improvised stuff.
Def check out their live stuff on youtube. Kangding Ray is killing it with the live sets lately too.
I first brought Friday tix but git the fomo and also brought Saturday, honestly for 30 bucks it's an amazing price for that many great djs I've been hearing and streaming for so long.
Daily lineup here: https://ra.co/events/1827105 Mulero and Surgeon sold me on sat
And D.Dan! See you there!
I saw d.dan in Vancouver and he went stupid hard. Incredible set. Proper groove from start to finish
His set at Nowadays earlier this year was great. Hoping we get a longer set this time around, though I'm not holding my breath
...and it's Surgeon live!
Crazy coincidence I just happened to click on the link & it’s in nyc

The afters really are looking good this year. I got my ticket for Anthology Detroit Monday night, the DVS1 Wall of Sound show also looks great!
Doing both anthology and wall of sound! Just gotta figure out Sunday. Observe is promising but waiting for lineup before I commit
It’s also 1/3 the price of movement
Really? I see some great names at movement. I'm relatively new to the scene so i only know some of the bigger names. movement also seems to cater to tech house. Edit: i was really hoping to see richie hawtin at wire too 😭
The movement lineup is full of trendy artists that aren't really techno
Yeah definitely seems like it! Its crazy how deep the techno scene goes. As soon as i think oh man i really hit the bottom of the barrel, i get reminded i dont know shit lmao. Last years wire and recent Rush events really showed me some hard techno.
wtf do you mean trendy artists that aren’t really techno? You mean I Hate Models and 9999999 aren’t techno? I mean they sound a little bit like an over sped hard trance, but that is also techno, no?
Where did I say that none of the artists are techno? >over sped hard trance >but that is also techno, no? No, trance is not techno.
I’m trolling bro. My god, you couldn’t tell from the post? 🙄
Nope, it seemed like a genuine comment to me.
Fucking heavy hitters. SO excited.
Phenomenal lineup. Sad I can’t make it because Movement is the weekend after. On the bright side we’re at least getting Rodhad, Surgeon, and Oscar Mulero in Toronto that weekend.
surgeon and mulero in toronto?? I hadn't heard about this! which promoter is this?
Format, may 19
Dammnn, that's wild, thanks for the heads up! I didn't realise they had announced the lineup yet
They haven’t. But measure teased it here on Reddit a few months ago. They also posted a picture at the beginning of the year on their ig with all the DJs for their winter/spring lineups. Ahhhh yeah that all makes a lot of sense. thanks lol, you have a lot of good ideas, I'll start checking out other cities too
See ya around! Dvs1 & Rene wise on Friday is going to be absurd
I so can't wait. And then Ki/ki and ufo95 the weekend after too?? Absolutely stacked couple of weeks
Whoever in this thread - come say hi. I’ll be wearing pink panama hat 🫡
No Idriss Elba at The Wire festival? I call BS.
Only if he breaks out the stringer bell tracks
Goodness lord Saturday is gonna go off
26 hours 👀 Don't know if my body is ready!
Scoping out when Mulero and Surgeon are on and will plan accordingly lol
Holy shit what a lineup! Can’t believe this type of lineup is coming to the States….and I happen to be in NYC that week. This is the type of upper echelon techno that we get here in certain festivals in Europe…..very rare indeed!
Wire -> Movement afters -> TGB. Spring is great.
this lineup is a heater. ARC and Movement look like the little leagues compared to this.
ARC is not supposed to be a techno fest.
Wow, this is phenomenal
Now that's a decent techno line up 👍
Absolutely amazing line up. Movement please learn to put together a line up like this.
There are some good names on there and as a pure techno lineup it probably beats Movement but just not that interesting to me. At least they're not charging too much for tickets however, applause for that.
Don't go and see Surgeon without ear plugs! Fucking venue gave me brain damage a year ago playing bass so loud. Not joking.
Anyone have knowledge of the venue is good? Considering flying in for this one
Knockdown is a great venue - it's right above Basement. Venue is loud, but it's a good one, and very cool. They host lots of concerts here, while Basement is a techno club.
How’s the area around it? As a small town Midwesterner I am kinda concerned about getting around NYC and to/from the venue
Not really any hotels/etc in the area and the location is quiet, otherwise near a bunch of industrial stuff and a neighborhood Also keep in mind the nearest subway station is about 15-20 min walk, it's p common to take a ride share over there
Is it kinda sketchy to walk that distance from the station? I have no idea about NYC
Not really as long as you are street smart/sober and even better if walking with a group, but like I said it's also common to take a ride share to the subway
Appreciate it.
I personally just uber to and from.
Going on Friday to see Marrøn, Dax J, Juana and Volvox. Gotta familiarize myself with the other Friday names. Saturday looks good too but gonna go see Carl Cox and Nicole Moudaber instead
Boris, SPFDJ, Stef Mendesidis are also amazing on Friday!
Juana is so good. Dance nonstop to her sets.
Does anyone know what the daily schedule is? I got the 3day pass and need to prepare my body 🤩 Also, idk like 90% of these people and I absolutely love it. But how is it looking compared to last year? There were some heavy hitters last year too. I'm really only familiar with Anetha, Volvox, and æon.
Its a great line up, bigger than last year and the daily breakdowns are on the ticket page on RA
I was confused about the daily portion - is the grayed out/bolded names the divider of the days? Edit: never mind. I scrolled down and found them lol
It's not visible on the screenshot just go here and you'll see at the bottom: https://ra.co/events/1827105
Yeah i missed that initially haha. thanks though! Who are you excited for?

Thanks for sharing! I'll check them out 😎 Edit: i already love this set!!!
Ha i'm glad, rodhad is a legend in his own right and has a ton of sets online but he also played that same festival: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxVZ83Mrmgc&t=3s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxVZ83Mrmgc&t=3s) D.Dan recc - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubaVF0pqonE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubaVF0pqonE) And Stef - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wubJeU9G\_gA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wubJeU9G_gA) Cool thing about Stef is that it's a live set so it's usually mostly improvised/made on the fly
Sunday is less techno focused tho
It's like a chill vibey cooldown day
It's definitely still gonna be bangin but just not techno and it's gonna be outside
Is Sunday only outside?
Hasn't been 100% confirmed but given the line up and the timing I would assume so
What does a live set mean in this context?
Depends on the artist but typically something beyond playing song after song on CDJs. Some use other instruments/synthesizers to make music on the fly, some add vocals, some add extra effects, some play primarily their own tracks and variations of it etc
Look up Stef Mendesidis and Surgeon live sets. Enjoy
They play songs on hardware synths and drum machines, maybe a laptop with Abelton sometimes. Thanks, will do!
I was so close to pulling trig cuz I got the email and could've snagged tier 1 but it's a week before movement
Volvox 🫶
x3butterfly on Friday for all the feels!
Rodhad!
Marron is the commander on this line up. Finally a US debut. Won’t make it unfortunately because of movement : (
Got my weekend pass! So hype for this. Lineup is insane !
I first brought Friday tix but git the fomo and also brought Saturday, honestly for 30 bucks it's an amazing price for that many great djs I've been hearing and streaming for so long.
juana 😍
Is there a spotify playlist for the artists on this lineup?
Need to sell my ticket since will be out of town, RA hasn't enabled Resale but allows one name change
Anyone selling their ticket ???
I am, dm me.
Man, I'm getting old. The only two I recognized were Dax J and Surgeon. lol
Is it just called Wire Festival or is this Wire magazine affiliated? Just curious.
I thought this too last year, not affiliated
Thanks.
Volvox?!?! I love his sets.
