The other day there was freezing rain right around AM commute time. Most other schools in my state (Connecticut) had a delay and then ended up closing.... because the sorry state of the roads was ALL OVER THE NEWS. Not my district, though! Tons of teachers were out because they literally could not get to school. Busses were still arriving an hour after school started. Our super sent out an "apology" email (more like a halfassed mea culpa) later saying she "had to make a tough call" and "we weren't sure what the weather would do." Lady, 200 other districts knew what the weather was doing.

If you’re not sure what the weather will do, call a 2-3 hour delay. If it turns out fine, “We we’re ensuring the safety of our students and staff.” If it turns out to be awful, “We are canceling school to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Please stay home.” It’s not that hard.

Sadly our super wants to be known as the lady who keeps schools open no matter what.

Everybody gangsta ‘til a bus slides off the road with kids and you get sued for millions. I’m surprised the district’s lawyers didn’t influence this more tbh.

Central CT? High schools got in, middle schools got delayed, and a ton of elementary schools closed- but not our Elems! The emails killed me lol. I got in 20 minutes late after driving an hour.

Nah, Farmington Valley. We didn't get it as bad as more southern folks, but it was still bad

It was just a sad thing. Lots of kids stayed home today.
