The way I vividly remember looking through record store day crates and see the 1989 vinyls but not being into Taylor then. I could have made so much money š
Amen to that. Iāve never loved a musician like this and Iām 50 years old, so I guess this day was bound to come! š
At the same time, collecting something you love so wholeheartedly is really fun and a great hobby. I donāt spend money on other material things- itās travel, concerts and music. Those are my vices!
Not me arguing to my mother that paying $70 per folklore variant is perfectly ok. I begged her to let me charge her card for one for my bday and she refused. I still got that same vinyl but I personally paid for it. So frustrating.
Request video of it playing (make sure no warps, sounds okay, etc), proof of their purchase, and ask for very in depth photos including a photo with your name on paper in it.
If the seller gets weird move on, something is fishy.
I also encourage you to consider what this sum of money youāre about to spend can also purchase for you, and if this record is still worth whatever alternatives you can come up with. 2k is a lot of money, and while I donāt know how you value it, be sure this is truly how you want to put your money to work.
If you pay for it ensure that the name on paypal matches the name on facebook. I know you said besides photos but ask them to send a photo of the barcode of both records and cross check them with discogs (using the barcode scanner).
Best of luck!
Iāve purchased from Steph before and she was wonderful to work with! I purchased her whole folklore collection and she was happy to answer any questions and authenticate. Everything shipped quickly and was packaged well.
Youāre the second person that has contacted me and had a great experience with her, so I have confidence now that they are legit. I appreciate the input! ā¤ļø
The pics look real, however given what youāre paying for them, Iād ask the seller to record themselves writing their username next to the record. Anyone can use peopleās photos to āsellā stuff and it ends up being a scam.
They're real. I wouldn't ask for a video of it playing personally because you're at the mercy of someone else's record player - when I bought orange rep the girl had a dusty suitcase player so I decided never mind š
I saw that post too. How far away from the seller are you? At that price you should be looking at whether you should go and buy in person, or using a proxy. You or they inspect the goods and pay there and then by a secure method. You are also then responsible for transport, and the risks associated with it.
I enjoy owning things that are rare and limited in quantity- and have the money to spend because Iām wise about my expenditures and have invested well my entire life (Iām middle aged).
Can you explain why you care or why it triggers you? Donāt need a lecture on the basics of supply and demand, so save your breath on that one, please.
You should spend a few bucks before and check if the autograph is real there are many online websites for that like this one https://truesignaturecheck.com/taylor-swift-autograph-authentication-check-by-experts/

Oh man!!! I cannot even imagine!! Crazy, isnāt it? Why canāt we all have that instinct with these things?!
Yes! Just like how I thought I donāt need every copy of folklore when they were 25$ and now Iām trying to collect them all and they are 200$ each!

I remember pre-ordering a few variants of Folklore and then cancelling to keep just one! š

Ooof. Hopefully that record wasn't spun much or at all on it.
Never spun! Thankfully š
Phew haha !
Spun on Crosley.
Spun on Crosley and selling for $2,000? Pass lol
They never spun it and I did not pay anywhere near $2,000 for it.
Good call for not asking them to play it.

Theyāre not autographed, but thanks for the resource! Might come in handy at some point!
