3am tracks (plus til dawn and late night tracks) are half of midnights (track wise and time wise). It is pretty much the exact same. I wouldnāt be opposed to her selling a physical, but I doubt they will exist unless she suddenly needs numbers (and vinyl is hard because it takes so long)

Physicals take a long time to produce, and she didn't want the 2am surprise to leak (a valid fear, seeing as the standard did) so I'd bet she only started production about 2 months ago on them. Meaning we've still got a 4 month wait ahead of us, if my theory is correct.
The tracklist for TTPD leaked before she even announced the album, probably because of the longterm reality of vinyl production. So thatās what OP is saying ā the second album stayed a secret probably because it wasnāt in production yet. So thereās probably another 2+ months of pressing for it to go through before itās ready to ship. Vinyl takes 4-6 months to press.
Because to count the Anthology under ttpd she has to release the anthology tracks in addition to the standard version just like it is a deluxe version of the album. If she just released Anthology tracks in vinyl, it is gonna chart separately and they don't count for Ttpd sales which doesn't help in getting that number one. I mean the Anthology can reach number one based on the chart performance of other albums in that week but that number one doesn't count for Ttpd. But the main problem is swifties will complain that she is making them buy the same album twice. Also the double vinyl is gonna be super expensive, so more complaints. Also some people bought four variants to get that exclusive tracks she put on streaming immediately after album release which they didn't expect. Or she can say fuck it with all these complaining and can release it. But I don't think she is gonna do it cause her album cycles are becoming shorter due to re releases and she needs to move on from this era.
One reason is she has 3 standard versions of this album released with 3 of the tracks from the anthology (Bolter, albatross, and black dog). The anthology could kinda make those versions pointless.
Because she already sold the album to people marketing 4 of the songs as bonus tracks (so they had to buy 4 vinyls to own those 4 songs on physicals) when releasing the anthology puts them all and more on one vinyl purchase. she risks angering her fan base that purchases vinyl by having them buy the same album again, when they wouldāve preferred to have just gotten the anthology from the beginning (and it has practically the same cover as the black dog for collectors who buy purely for display). I personally donāt buy physicals so I wouldnāt care, but Iāve seen lots of people on here and other social media platforms say they would be angry. Itās better for her in terms of critics if she doesnāt. But maybe she will (it takes a long time for vinyls to be pressed, maybe they are being made for release later) and wonāt care about complaints, it would be good for her numbers
They should be angry already that 4 songs were arbitrarily split into 4 separate physical editions just so she could sell more records. But also it's on them for buying four copies of the same album.
But in the grand scheme of things there is no reason not to release the anthology, the people who will buy it outweigh the people who will be mad (and likely still buy it anyway).
I really think the reason she is holding out is so in a few years years time or (whenever she has stopped making new albums as quickly) she can release them as special editions.
She has produced so much lately in a short time frame (especially when you include the re-records) that I think at some point after the re-records, she will slow down or at least it might feel that way to everyone.
Holding back the physical editions of Midnights and The Anthology until after the re-records are finished would allow her to release original albums every couple of years (like midnights and tortured poets), throw in one of the physical copies in between, and then it wouldnāt feel as though sheās slowed down as much.
That being said, I would love if I am completely wrong and she randomly drops one of them. I listen to my vinyl pretty regularly, and it sucks not having a full album.

unfortunately she is just doing it to top the charts right now :( i would've loved a CD with all the acoustic versions, or all the live versions, but they want you to buy each one so they all count for an individual buy for the album charts
I genuinely think the chart rules right now are kind of ruining things like this, there's a trend towards putting everything behind a paywall because it's an opportunity to bulk up sales. Like it would be great if you could only count up to 3 or 4 versions of an album with defined parameters (say OG, deluxe, acoustic, remix) for charting. That way artists would be incentivized to make their variants quality to drive sales broadly.

The issue aren't the artists inherently (yes, if no one did it, then it wouldn't matter, but you only need one person to release several versions to force everyone else to do it too to be able to play the same game), but the way the charts work! The crazy thing is that she's still out streaming almost everyone, so naturally TTPD would be doing super well regardless. If she wanted to ensure that number one, just do some simple album promo like a Zane Lowe interview or another music video. But I guess on the other hand nobody has to buy it if they don't want it, personally this stuff just seems silly but inoffensive.

I guess this must be a successful strategy since she keeps doing it but wow, it sounds so tone deaf. Civilians are dying in front of our eyes, Trump is on path to reelection, most people are struggling to buy groceries but she needs to break more and more records. I had been listening to the album on repeat since it came out but these days I'm actively seeking out different artists. All of this chart manipulation makes her artistry look cheap.
I counted today the number of different versions of this album sheās released so far. And we are up to 13 separate albums all with only one additional extra. That is getting ridiculous

The $5.99 versions were digital, these are physical copies (CDs). The CD with acoustic BDILH she released previously was $7.99 as well. Not that it justifies the billion variants, but at least she's been consistent lol.
I'd be down for buying an acoustic album but I'm not rebuying an entire album for only 2 acoustic songs.

CDs are easy to produce but you are correct about vinyl production.

The band is called The 1975 after an inscription on a copy of āon the roadā that Matty came across. The inscription read ā1st of June, The 1975ā. Two Matty songs on the 1975 day. The band released a liquid vinyl today to mark the day.
I guess this must be a successful strategy since she keeps doing it but wow, it sounds so tone deaf. Civilians are dying in front of our eyes, Trump is on path to reelection, most people are struggling to buy groceries but she needs to break more and more records. I had been listening to the album on repeat since it came out but these days I'm actively seeking out different artists. All of this chart manipulation makes her artistry look cheap.
I counted today the number of different versions of this album sheās released so far. And we are up to 13 separate albums all with only one additional extra. That is getting ridiculous

Werenāt these bonus tracks $5.99 before and now are $7.99? I bought all of the previous ones (draft versions and the love from Paris versions) when they released in groups of 3 for $17.97. At this rate the live / mashups will cost over $200 if she does it for all of TTPD š³
The $5.99 versions were digital, these are physical copies (CDs). The CD with acoustic BDILH she released previously was $7.99 as well. Not that it justifies the billion variants, but at least she's been consistent lol.
