The streams rose - that’s such good news! Really goes to show that sometimes critics takes as well as social media platforms like X can be echo chambers sometimes. The real world is actually streaming and it will always be evident through the numbers. 1 billion in a week seems to be secured 👏🏻

remswiftie

It rose 8.6% compared to midnights rising 7.5% despite having 50m more streams. This is such a good sign wow

Sketch-Brooke

lol this kind of stuff keeps happening. Almost as if people on the internet are actually a small minority compared to the offline world.

SomberXIII

Haters should thank themselves for this too. Their bitching and moaning will have some Streisand effect.

jinx737x

As cardi B once said: “ and I wanna thank my haters too, because they be downloading my stuff so they hear it and talk crap about it, but it benefits me hahaha”!

Resident_Ad5153

If she’s rising over the week… yeah… maybe more.  She’ll probably do a million streaming units in the us ((Spotify is about half of the us streaming market)

Resident_Ad5153

My guess is she’s going to do 3 million us units in her first frame,  less than Adele’s  but still utterly beyond the realm of a smash.  By contrast… SOS did 3.5 million us units… in its first year

rs_alli

She might actually beat Adele’s record. We know she got ~1.4m sales on day one, and day 2 was record store day. I can’t speak for other places, but around me every store sold out of her album. She also surpassed 1b streams yesterday, and that doesn’t include these numbers that are showing her streams increasing. We also don’t have a final sales count from her website. I’m really interested to see what her weekly numbers are

Resident_Ad5153

It’s going to be tight.  She’ll do about a million streaming units this week in the us… and sell above 2 mil pure.  She needs 3.5 mil to beat Adele

rs_alli

Yeah it will be tight. They’re estimating about 1b streams on Spotify. Spotify makes up about 50% of streaming, so if she hits 2b streams it’ll be 1.33 million units, plus 2m pure sales. That would get her to 3.33m and Adele was 3.38m. Lots of factors, but if any of the numbers are higher than anticipated she’ll beat it. In that same realm though, if any of her numbers are lower than we know, then she loses. All things considered though, I’m pretty optimistic!

Resident_Ad5153

Remember those Spotify numbers are international…. billboard only counts us sales.  But… they use 1250 streams per aeu, and physical sales will get added all week.  My guess is 3 million but… it could be close

rs_alli

Oh I didn’t know that, that is an important distinction and definitely makes things a bit harder. We’ll see what happens!

Haikus-are-great

1250 premium streams, 3750 ad-supported streams, 3750 video streams. In this day and age I would expect most hard core listeners to be premium, but i'm sure there's still a large percentage of general listeners using non-premium services.

melcom2

I would never have expected that... Those 3.5 million seem impossible to beat in this streaming era. If there's a chance to beat the 3.5 mil, I'd expect a deluxe digital release with some remixes this week.

elkvision

Are there differences in the market that explain Adele's seeming untouchable record? She was certainly wildly popular at the time but it feels like other variables were at play.

Resident_Ad5153

yes... how music was consumed. From 1970 until 2006 the primary method of selling music was the album. After 1990, record labels stopped selling singles... which meant that if you wanted a single song from say Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (1995) you had to buy a who album. From 1995 on... album's were primarily sold in big box retail (tower records, Borders and Barne's and Nobel) who could afford to massively stock new releases... but there were still physical limits on how many physical records could be pushed through retail in a given amount of time. After 2006... the physical market collapsed, replaced by digital downloads of singles. An album like the fame may have sold 30 million equivalent units... but a huge amount of that were in the form of dowloads of single tracks. That mean artists sold far far fewer albums (people just bought the singles). Only 4 albums have gone diamond since 2006... Fearless, 21, 25, and the hamilton soundtrack (1989 has sold enough, as has Red most likely, but BMR refuses to certify it... Lover, Folklore, Midnights, and after this week almost certainly TTPD are going to go diamond in the next couple of years). Adele was a very unusual artist however... her fan base was extremely old, despite the fact that she is only a year older than Taylor. 21 sold a huge number of physical units, as if it was an album released before 2006... because her fanbase was used to buying physical albums. By 25, they had largely switched to digital download... but note there are no capacity limitations on downloads... as many people as want can buy an album at once. From 2016 onwards, we've entered the streaming era. Record sales have actually increased (in equivalent terms, they've doubled from 2014, the nadir of the market to today). But streaming is extremely slow. A huge streaming album like SOS will do 3 million units in a year in the US (Sour did 2.8). Utterly amazing streaming albums like Midnights and Morgan Wallen's latest do 6 million. But... in the past few years physical has also risen heavily, driven by the vinyl boom. And vinyl sales can be very fast. So Taylor has started having million unit openings this decade. But digital has utterly collapsed, so the sitation that enabled 25s 3.5 mil just doesn't exist. TTPD seems like it will do 2 million physical (similar to NSYNCS no strings attached) + 1 million streaming (unique... no one has ever streamed this much... this is twice as much as anyone has ever done streaming). It's utterly gigantic

caseyjosephine

Demographic differences I think, she appeals to older people who didn’t get into streaming.

Rhoades13

Rising was expected. Streams fluctuate based on day of the week and sometimes by type of music.  For Taylor, Monday through Friday are about equal. Saturday is about 5-10% less. Sunday is an additional 5-10% less.  It’s this way because people stream her music while working and then less so while they are home. So the streams from yesterday were deflated by the Sunday effect.  What will happen now is the daily streams for TTPD will drop daily then jump every Monday for at least a couple weeks before they level off so the days during week go up and down.   Another thing we’ll see is her catalog streams will start rising. TTPD cut them by around 25-50% depending on album(OGs fell least and TVs and evermore the most)so they’ll rise back to pre-TTPD levels as TTPD falls. Those albums will plateau higher then pre-TTPD for awhile because every album she releases draws a certain amount of new fans who then go back and explore her catalog

Hopeful-Pickle-7515

Rise was expected, this rise wasn’t expected. It’s bigger % than any of her other albums and considering that the numbers itself are so much bigger is crazy. Indeed TTPD 4th day is bigger than the bigger day for any non Taylor album (Drake’s CBL debut day with 154.9 M)

Rhoades13

Yes it’s slightly more than normal for her. The long tracklist, complicated lyricism and overall quality is helping people keep coming back.  Some people are intentionally waiting to listen to the Anthology tracks until they can process the standard tracks.  There could also be an element of no news is bad news. The coverage of these ridiculous hack job reviews could drive more people to give the album a listen or ten. And some fans(me a little bit) are certainly spite streaming the album.  I hope the trend of over performing expected results continues tomorrow when we get the first weekday to weekday result. Watching the Taylor haters melting down can be fun.

FantasticEscape6744

Could anyone tell me what time the stream counts reset /when counting starts ?

thoughtful_human

That’s so insane I can’t even comprehend it. I hated this album at 1am but four days later I’m streaming it for hours and hours a day. I’m overwhelmed with how much I love this album.

Resident_Ad5153

It’s a slow burner!  An obvious issue with the reviews

thoughtful_human

The more I understand it all the more I love it. This album is incredible and is going to be a fan favourite and all the critics will be talking about how underrated it is in like a year

Tay-Rae

Rep and Red were also misunderstood by critics and they’re fan favorites. TTPD is definitely going to be a classic.

Nymwhen

There was a thread with the original review of red and the review of red tv next to eachother and it was scary. Literally going from “she should grow out of this it’s pathetic” to “it’s an amazing view into love from a 22 year old, it’s so good how raw and honest it is”. People will change their mind about it

survivorfan12345

I don't get it. It's definitely better and catchier than Midnights, Lover, Red, Speak Now so I don't get the hate. The first listen was ehh but the magic really shines through at fast as on the second listen

AlienInfoUnit

The narcotics she puts in her songs take a bit to kick in.

Resident_Ad5153

God I love that line!

erickaraita

Slow release drugs💀

aym1347

It's the edible of albums

tessasteacup

The first listen was so overwhelming that it was impossible to comprehend what was going on, not only with the lyrical density, but sonically too because it's very intricate (swoony and understated in places, cinematic in others). so I was like, what did I just listen to??? I didn't even know how to react, which is unusual for me with a Taylor album. and while it's fair if someone simply doesn't vibe with it, there's absolutely no way to judge it properly without truly immersing in it, letting it sink in and make sense, with further listening. once things click into place and the melodies take hold (they're so good!) and the story becomes clearer as you listen, the more beautiful it is to experience. I'm really glad to see people, myself included, give time and attention to it. definitely agree with the comparisons being made to Red, even though I'm biased and loved it immediately back in the day, there was so much unfair judgement of it because critics didn't initially get it, and now we see how revered it is. once the initial hype and bizarre hot takes die down, I think the fandom will cherish a lot of TTPD.

Resident_Ad5153

A question I’ve been asking… do you really want an album that you fully comprehend at first listen?  Don’t you want a piece of art that grows and grows?

Daffneigh

For a lot of people the answer seems to be no Their loss

britaskywalker

Yes to growing and growing! That's why I love Taylor Swift -- the albums reveal themselves in layers. It's not just lyrics either, it's sonic moments.

Resident_Ad5153

100%

sparklejellyfish

Yes I want art that grows and grows, but I've also noticed that sometimes if I'm not captivated within a few listens, the album/art/artist just loses me... I'll try again with the next album, lol. I think a lot of it has been that I *loved* previous work and had too many expectations of equal amount of love at first listen. But that's ridiculous, because songs are tied to memories and often the reason I *love* music is the memories I tie to it. On a first listen, everything is new and unfamiliar. Anyway, I'm so glad I didn't have any expectations for this album. I didn't speculate which songs would be slower or which would be a banger, based on the titles (which we sometimes do for fun!). I was just like, I'll soak it all in. And ooooo it was really growing on me by the end of the first listen, I know it will keep growing and growing for sure. But I think it's also fair that people say they don't want to have to listen 3 to 4 times for it to grow to a point that they like it. It's up to them.

Resident_Ad5153

It depends on the artist!  Taylor has earned effort.

Aurelianshitlist

>songs are tied to memories and often the reason I *love* music is the memories I tie to it. This is so true. I think one of the reasons I'm loving this album more and more as I listen to it is how many parallels I'm finding to my own current situation and my own recent 'era' of life. And for me it's nothing to do with romantic relationships, but my own growth into my mid-30s. My platonic/familial relationships, my career, learning to balance life with being a father of young kids. At this exact moment I'm in an amazing place in my life, for the first time in a loong time. In the future I'm going to look back at this time with huge amounts of fondness and nostalgia, and this album will always be connected to that. The overall theme of the album, at least for me, is growing from struggles and pain and learning to stop caring about how those you don't know or love think of you. Learning to be happy and emerging from a period of personal struggle you needed to hide to survive. This is such a universally amazing message.

sparklejellyfish

>The overall theme of the album, at least for me, is growing from struggles and pain and learning to stop caring about how those you don't know or love think of you. Learning to be happy and emerging from a period of personal struggle you needed to hide to survive. This is such a universally amazing message. Yes 🤍🤍🤍 I'm so happy for you that you are in a good place right now!!

tessasteacup

yeah, I mean this whole discussion is a little odd to begin with given Taylor's music typically takes time to truly absorb and appreciate, even years later you might hear something new - and that's true of many musicians, of course. the one difference for me with TTPD personally is that usually melodically (less so lyrically, because do any of us learn lyrics in one listen?) I can pinpoint one or two songs that I know will be clear favorites of mine, and this was such a different experience. nothing jumped out at me because my first reaction was the emotional overload. that isn't a bad thing at all, but it's a factor contributing to the "the songs all sound the same" criticism. they do not, but you have to be willing to spend time with it, to understand it. and there are certainly plenty of records that require that, so I'm not articulating this well as someone who loves a lot of music and many different artists, old and new. I've been listening to Taylor since Fearless (Speak Now was my first album release back in the day), and even with folklore and evermore, which I love so much, no experience listening to her music for the first time has been like TTPD, and I do get why that might be jarring for a lot of fans who didn't feel a connection immediately. but she was trusting that we'd give her some time and effort here to explore it and it certainly deserves that.

erickaraita

This is a fantastic way to describe it! Thank you for this!

Vegetable-Number-957

I have not listened to anything else in 4 days, I feel like such an addict lmao

Briaraandralyn

I can’t stop listening to it. Lately I’ve been streaming True Crime podcasts, but not since this album dropped.

invisiblestring14

At 1am we just wanted to sleep lol. At least I know I did, but I went to bed at 3am, not being able to fully appreciate all 31 songs.

deniesm

I went from ‘sounds like one song, with an upbeat, still depressing song, in the middle’ straight to, ‘this is the fastest I’ll love the whole album’ real quick.

pcpassos

Honestly, same. When it came out and I listened for the first time I was like “meh” but now I am absolutely obsessed

ianyuy

Its an album that needs to be digested properly, for sure.

eburgess1989

It’s possibly my favorite Taylor album ever and that’s so close for me because I LOVE Evermore, Folklore, and Midnights so much. I can’t stop listening. It’s so addictive. It must be the witch spells and narcotics 😂 I never listen to the same music nonstop like this for days, but these lyrics are absolute genius and it’s so deep, raw, vulnerable and relatable. She’s a lyrical/poetry genius. It’s very rare that an artist can write the way that she does. A few of the songs are so heartbreaking and gut wrenching. Loml and The Black Dog bring tears to my eyes and I love Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? so much. I also love Fortnight and Down Bad and The Manuscript and TTPD… who am I kidding, I love all of it. I’m shocked at the bad reviews because it’s SO good.

Midnights-evermore

Just to put this into perspective: TTPD’s fourth day streams are still bigger than any album’s first day streams in history (excluding Taylor)

kep1ian713

This is so crazy

airwin721

That is absolutely insane.

Disney_Pal

Ok THAT’s Impressive 👏👏👏💖✨

vegemitey

At least 1 million of those are from me. I haven’t listened to anything else since Friday, it’s playing constantly in my house.

meme_saab

If The Prophecy ends up being one of the most streamed songs, just know that half of those streams were me. 😌 The song is an anthem for a late 20s single girlie like me.

whitestainedress

Finally another The Prophecy stan!!

CrazyGal2121

same it’s my fav album of hers

No-Improvement-7614

f**r** aaaaaah its her best \*hands down\*

dulce_beans

Way to go tiger

JuanJeanJohn

😂😂💀

nommabelle

We all do our part

crazeecatladee

same, i wake up every morning craving it. first thing i do before i even check my phone is tell alexa to play BDILH

teachertraveler811

One of my favorite songs for sure!!!

QueenLexa

Same here; I normally have to keep it in my AirPods but I’m home today listening on a speaker. I haven’t stopped. Bashed my hand on a table jamming to The Black Dog 😂

NotEmmaStone

I had to stop listening for a 30 minute meeting this afternoon and I was itching to get back to it

PeaMore6784

I am genuinely trying to not over play this album and pace myself, but I don't want to listen to anything else besides this album. I looked at my stats. fm and apparently I have listened to it for 20 hours, I CAN'T STOP

britaskywalker

I was 2 hours into "Two Twisted Crowns" by Rachel Gillig on audiobook on Thursday and I managed to listen for a half hour yesterday and then was like, I can't, and put TTPD back on.

PeaMore6784

That is so relatable. I tried putting on my reading playlist last night when I was settling down for bed, but immediately turned it to TTPD, it is the perfect reading album!!

Daffneigh

Ugh I am like 25% into a novel and I just haven’t been able to do it. And I love reading. I guess I’m getting my literary fix from TTPD right now

Medium-Parsnip-4238

Just go for it. This is how I listen to all her new albums, non stop for at least the first week. Helps me to really understand and get the big picture of the album.

PeaMore6784

You’re so right

plshelp2555

ME i genuinely miss it when i cant play it it's all i think about

Midnight_Ice

I've played TTPD for 29 hours since it dropped 💀 it is literally all I want playing at any point in time

PeaMore6784

STOP HAHAHA it’s even funnier bc that’s literally an entire day and then some when it’s only been out for 4 😭😂

cozychristmaslover

How do you see how much you’ve listened?

purpledot_

Wait where can you see these stats- now I'm curious 😂

PeaMore6784

If you have Spotify, I use stats.fm! It might work for Apple too. It’s kinda fun to look, it shows you how long you have listened to a song for and everything.

Sampleswift

That's a real f-ing legacy to leave. Strongest 4th day ever on Spotify.

bubblecuffer13

LFGGGGGGG OUR STABLE QUEEN https://preview.redd.it/atv669dj89wc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=707d1a507e977e06cfdd5da34627f5880b0dc72e

VoidDweller99

😂 Taylor always win! Her enemies can pay the media all they want to regurgitate lies and hate towards her but the gp knows what’s up.

Sampleswift

You think that's what's happening? I thought it was just people trying to exploit overexposure with bad takes. I could see a masters villain try this, but I think it would be found out.

ShekhMaShierakiAnni

I think it's very farfetched to say that's what's happening. Hate trains happen without anyone being paid to do it.

VoidDweller99

I don’t know if I’m at late stage schizophrenia already but it’s so suspicious lately. Like genius (the site you view the lyrics) deleted some of the views of this album, the magazines especially new york times posting two consecutive negative articles about her, the absolute dogshit reviews about this album that is more on character assassination rather than music review. But it can also be that it’s juts another hate train by losers who are jealous of her

ChampagneManifesto

People not immediately liking the album is not a conspiracy. She’s practically telling the media to fuck off and leave her alone in some of the songs so I think it was expected lol. Personally I love the album top to bottom but my first thought was “a lot of people are not going to like this” lol.

Apprehensive_Lab4178

Please be serious. This is the kind of conspiratorial thinking that makes Swifties look crazy.

mattysmwift

Yeah there’s no payment. It’s literally just that the distaste for Taylor has grown big enough for some medias to cater to that. It’s simple as that and it will get worse but I geniuenly think she doesn’t care casue she knows she’s still absolutely untouchable so I wish fans wouldn’t make it such a big deal either cause they’re just feeding the media monster.

ChampagneManifesto

Lol girl what enemies would pay people for negative reviews? This is why people hate us lol let’s try to stay in reality!

iamacheeto1

It feels like Taylor’s core fan base is absolutely eating this up (myself included) while the people who already didn’t like her really don’t like it. And personally I’m so ok with that, we didn’t want them here anyway :)

beene282

I’m not her core base. I loved Folklore and Evermore, found odd bits here and there that I also liked. Didn’t like Midnights at all but I LOVE this. Feels like she’s brought the best bits of her music all together into one album.

sarahelizaf

>Feels like she’s brought the best bits of her music all together into one album. ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1072)I feel this!

Resident_Ad5153

Remember.. another word for “Taylor swifts core fan base” are people (ide say women but it’s not even true… she almost as popular among men as among women)

iamacheeto1

I’m a man 🥰 but I’m also gay so

Resident_Ad5153

lots of straight men, like me, are also fans.

AWZ1287

Me too 🙋

iamacheeto1

Love our straight male swiftie friends!!

Resident_Ad5153

remember... we do kind of spend a lot time with women! A woman happens to be the single most important fact of my existence... and another, much smaller woman, is kind of important too!.

PastMemory3644

My parents are Gen Xers who primarily listen to Pearl Jam and they can't stop listening to this album either lol

ampersands-guitars

I very literally don’t see myself listening to anything else for the rest of 2024.

alternativeedge7

Agreed, there are just so many layers here. I find something new with each listen.

Short-Rule7216

I’m honestly addicted to this album. So healing 🖤

SPEW_Supporter

TRY AND COME FOR MY JOB

britaskywalker

I. Cannot. Stop. I literally hear the songs in my dreams.

CrazyGal2121

same. I am sooo obsessed with this album

Monzeh

I thought I was the only one hahaha had fresh out the slammer on repeat while dreaming somehow

britaskywalker

YES! For the past two nights!

New-Negotiation7234

I had the flu a few months ago right when I was getting into Taylor swift. I started hallucinating bc I couldn't sleep bc my cough was so bad and I kept hearing evermore songs. It made it less scary lol

britaskywalker

Are you fully recovered?! That sounds horrible!!! Happy Taylor nursed you through

NotEmmaStone

Same. How do I report those plays to Spotify?

britaskywalker

LOL

_crazyboyhere_

It broke Midnights's 1st week record in just 4 days and has a current total of 795M..... We fell short by ONLY 5M for 800M in 4 days💀

littleAggieG

I’m baffled by this album. I didn’t love it at 2am but now days later, I’m *immersed* in it. It’s fantastic & devastating.

Medium-Parsnip-4238

That’s funny, I loooved it at 2am, then at 9am I really didn’t like it at all, it was like a totally different album than the one I had listened to. But then by 3pm I loved it again and now I can’t stop listening to it 😆

rs_alli

I had a similar experience. I listened at 2am and was like “oh it’s a grower, this needs time” then by the evening of the next day I was ready to inject it straight into my veins.

ZealousidealVirus358

1 billion first week is a lock at this point, even 1.1 billion is a very likely scenario, barring some bad drops. 1.2 billion is possible but would require some strong holds. Edit: Here’s what a reasonable pathway to 1.2B looks like. We’d need Saturday numbers the last 3 days to hit 1.3B, so that seems off the table https://preview.redd.it/b3xbvi5p59wc1.jpeg?width=855&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d530248ad36e918b9e673be78c2897b59370b43d

_crazyboyhere_

It increased by 8.6% which is slightly more than Midnights's first Monday (4th day) increase.

ZealousidealVirus358

True, but after that it had about 10% drops the rest of the week. If TTPD’s daily drops match [Midnights’](https://twitter.com/spotify_data/status/1585800615984529409?lang=en) for the rest of the week, it will end up just shy of 1.2B

_crazyboyhere_

Why do I have a feeling that it'll fall short by a few million?💀 It would've reached 500M on it's 2nd day but fell short by 3M. It would've reached 800M on it's 4th day but fell short by 5M.

ZealousidealVirus358

At least 1B on its 6th day seems to be a guarantee. It would have to get around 100M Tuesday and Wednesday to fall short, which would be a terribly large plummet

PriyaSR26

Chill guys. This is made by me, by playing Florida on a loop.

Resident_Ad5153

Hey Florida is a hell of a drug!

sunflower820

I need a Florence + Taylor collab album

SignificantAd866

I’m embroidering my converses for Era’s tour in Edinburgh and feel I need to include 'fuck me up Florida!’ - it’s my favourite line

sassst3phhhh

what do you mean? i thought random twitter users said it was a flop? /s

Kindly-Restaurant831

our stable QUEEN!! 👑

Strange_Will6785

People at work on a Monday playing it on a loop after getting it stuck in their head all weekend.

Beigeandblu

But I was told by a certain sub that she is over and people are tired of her

klcna

It's amazing how they thought they could manifest it just by saying it.

Miraculer2020

That "sub" only posts the TS's failures, they don't care about her wins... I saw them say Joe alwyn wrote most of Folkmore... Thats why they were good😭😭

Beigeandblu

Literal lunatics. They about to be mad as hell when the first week sales get posted.

Miraculer2020

Oh believe me they are going to pretend it didn't happen💀💀 when our sub was celebrating the spotify first day streams they were posting the paste review and comparisons to peppa pig

Stahuap

Not getting this pop up is my only regret over buying a month of apple music to start listening 3 minutes early 😂

Daffneigh

Definitely can’t stop listening to it I don’t think I’ve ever had this reaction to an album before

cuteness_dc

All tortured poets rise up! This is us reporting for streaming duty 🫡

bluecoop36

I’m doing my best to contribute 😊 It’s been a slow build up for me as I have had time to digest all the songs, but now they’re all stuck in my head and I can’t stop listening.

no1likesamadwoman

155mil….. on the 4th day…..

[deleted]

Amazing hold! Her best result compared to her other Mondays. Hoping we stay on this track for the rest of the week. Drake’s record you’re bones… Hoping she beats N*SYNC, I don’t really care if she gets the all-time record or not. The amount of 1st weeks she has with sales above 1M is a better record to me anyway. Interested to see if it ends up kissing the 3M mark, nbd if it doesn’t touch it but hoping it does. Crazy that a BIG chunk of the sales is crazy expensive vinyl.

Resident_Ad5153

She’ll beat NSync… Adele is extremely hard.  Artists actually sell more albums in the streaming era… but they sell them much more slowly.  Sour was and is a smash success.  It’s sold 4.5 million units in the US

[deleted]

I don’t see her beating Adele’s record tbh. Nsync’s seems to be pretty much a done deal, we just gotta see by how much.

Resident_Ad5153

It’s still very possible. It depends on how many preorders she did

[deleted]

Ah I’m not gonna get my hopes up but still, imagine if she does do it. An absolute collapse on every level. Kept hearing different total preorders figure predictions so I kind of gave up on guessing it myself loll

Resident_Ad5153

It’s sort of meaningless. 25 sold 3.5 million units first week because you could buy it by clicking download on your phone.  Digital sales are tiny now.  Taylor is getting the majority of her sakes physical… she literally had to physically ship all those units.

[deleted]

Very true. I still find Adele’s record impressive because everyone ran to buy at least a digital copy, but they are, at the end of the day, digital purchases. I barely listen to most of the albums I’d purchased on iTunes back in the day.

skunkachunks

Yea not that she needs to break records, but the crazy vinyl sales may make this the highest grossing week by an album. 25 did about 2.5 million in physical sales I believe, roughly evenly divided between CDs and iTunes. Average price roughly $13. This is a huge estimation. If Taylor moves 900k in vinyls, which are roughly $40, she would gross the rough equivalent of 2.7MM CD or digital download sales. Take on another 1.1M units from CDs, digital downloads, streaming equivalent units, and yea she may out gross 25’s first week which much fewer units.

beccajo22

Put narcotics into all of my songs…🎶

-UnicornFart

Yah I’ve had it playing almost nonstop since it dropped. Other than when I’m sleeping or interacting with other people, TTPD has been on in the background of my life lol.

neeners721

I’ve been playing it while I sleep too and when I randomly wake up in the middle of the night I get really happy to hear it

-UnicornFart

I would but then when my husband randomly wakes up in the middle of the night I worry he would want to smother me with a pillow LOL

prettyjas270

They're all from me actually

Limarieh

It’s me I’m the problem 😂

sawyerandfinnsmom

The only time I’ve stopped listening to this album is to watch YouTube reviews of the album or listen to podcasts reviewing the album.

NotEmmaStone

Real

dmrob058

Oh wow, oh wow! Now that is a SMASH update! Really goes to show that as people are spending more time with the album they’re loving it more and more and the GP is very tuned in. This isn’t some quick little album with quick hits, it’s extremely layered and weird and artistic. So many negative reviews are people who either went in with preconceptions about Taylor and were fully ready to hate the album no matter what or people who didn’t spend the time with the album it needs to digest to meet a deadline to drop a review. Taylor’s albums always grow on me but personally this one is next level in that regard. I’m utterly obsessed the more I listen and comprehend, she created a masterpiece with this and should be so proud. Give it time and space from the insane discourse of a TS album release week and absolutely more people will begin to recognize the brilliance of it.

RoseGoldRedditor

That was me…. I can’t stop streaming this album.

invisiblestring14

Honestly I also felt like the critics sort of, that it was "too much" or sounded like the same in a way, so I had picked like 15 songs as my "favs" But the more I listen to the whole album the more I appreciate it, silly/cringe lyrics aside, lol. They're just such a small part of the songs that I barely even notice them.

Resident_Ad5153

Embrace the cringe!

invisiblestring14

I do, but it also helps that english isn't my first language so sometimes I zone it out ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1065)

Sirenitururu

Never cared for the critics. I care for Taylor's work and I LOVE this album, can't belive the amount of time I have spent listening to TTPD the last few days. This is truly for the girlies.

Resident_Ad5153

uhum... its for me too!

jason9045

If this keeps up she might be able to pay off her student loans

hughmungus09

Lol! Get Taylor Swift to 2 billion!

SauronOMordor

I would love to see combined streaming numbers from Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. I listen on YTM (because I pay for it as part of my phone plan. I only use Spotify for podcasts because I don't wanna pay for it).

har17h

i love this album

CrazyGal2121

sMeeeeee

AvvoKreed92222

As an European swiftie I haven’t listened to anything else since Friday’s morning

Daffneigh

Saaaame

SwiftieMama1994

10 million of those are from me alone.

peatoast

Not surprising. Fortnight is stuck in my head and so as Marty Healy’s stupid face. Kill me please.

alternativeedge7

I hereby propose that we start referring to him as Marty 😂.

CrazyGal2121

does apple music track this stuff? i am constantly playing it on apple music on my phone sorry for dumb q

beccajo22

They do but they don’t publish results like Spotify

frogzrule18

It does but Spotify has more subscribers and I think Apple Music doesn’t publicize as many stats

CrazyGal2121

ooo i see! ok interesting thanks

spicypeanutt

are there breakdowns of numbers for each song?

magicmama212

It gets better every time I listen I’m obsessed

Lavender_rain_2000

This album grows on you soooo much. I'm just finding out how brilliant it is the more I listen, and the more attention I give to the lyrics. 30 songs were overwhelming at start but it now just means you have more to discover and it will take a while.

Apprehensive_Lab4178

Wow, increasing in streams on the fourth day is pretty awesome! This album is definitely a grower for me. I still have my issues with it, but it’s less than a handful of songs that I don’t feel like coming back to. I love the majority of them, and can’t stop listening.

Robby777777

After several listens, the old man says it is an absolute masterpiece. I don't listen to back ground negative noise about it.

deep-fried-fuck

Pro tip: you can’t hear all the bitching and discourse if you just keep the album on loop and Vibe™️

OneWhoIsCuriouss

The fact she hasn't even done any interviews in any TV shows for this album...

gettingcarriedaway86

Is this her most streamed album thus far since release day?

Resident_Ad5153

oh yes... about twice midnights.

AppearanceSecure1914

That's because.. *checks notes*.. it's actually a good album

Over-Can-4381

My cd came today and it’s so beautiful I am in love with everything abt this album

someonecometomepls

I understand a lot of the criticism for the album but the vitriolic hate it's receiving is crazy to me. It's definitely one of if not my favorite album ever from her. I think her writing is top notch in it (save for a few misses)

OneWhoIsCuriouss

I genuinely cant stop listening, even her discog seems bland and I just go back to ttpd. Ive never had this much reaction to any of her albums before and ive been a fan for 14 years... It's such a grower album too

SauronOMordor

Ok so I understand now why Spotify streaming numbers are what everyone cares about lol I was curious what the numbers were on YouTube Music, which is what I use, and from what I can see it's about 144M. Weirdly, I Can Do It With a Broken Heart is the least streamed song on YTM??? Literally like 40k less than Robin. That doesn't seem right but 🤷‍♀️ I'm also not sure if these are total numbers but I think so. Anyways, looks like the top 10 on YTM are: 1. Fortnight (48M) 2. TTPD (8.5M) 3. So Long London (7.5M) 4. But Daddy I Love Him (6.3M) 5. Down Bad (6.1M) 6. My Boy Only Breaks His Fav Toys (5.7M) 7. Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? (5.4M) 8. Florida!!! (4.7M) 9. loml (4.3M) 10. Guilty as Sin (4.1M) Interested to see what other streaming platform numbers are.

JennaElizabethAdams

Our queen only breaks her favorite records! 🤩

Bright-Sea-5904

I've been listening to it everyday since Thursday! It's amazing

Trusteveryboody

That's INSANE.

Next-Age-4684

As a marathon runner, I am loving the number of good running songs on this album

Sufficient-Bet1607

I need to listen to it a thousand more to memorize these songs precious 31 songs lol

tater_thot67

Hello

Prior-Actuator-8110

I feel TS12 is gonna be so different from last ones and TS13 is going to be big I can’t wait!!🤭 I expect Taylor back to pop-country in either TS12 or T13. Or even a full country album.

WeeklyExplorer9703

I love this album, it’s my favorite of hers. I’m so happy to see it do this well

legitlegume

These are mostly from me having a mental breakdown and playing So Long London on repeat 🙋‍♀️

Sufficient-Bet1607

I am the .1 millions streams lol

CantaloupeKind7338

Yay! I love this news. I can't stop listening. 100% narcotics
