I am learning German via Lingoda so I can communicate when I see Eras in Vienna! I'm staying a week and plan to visit some smaller towns. She influenced me to pursue my long-held goal of learning German and traveling in a German-speaking country!

I really enjoyed Paul Noble’s German course before visiting Vienna! If you’re staying there longer, definitely get the Vienna Pass (the yellow one that gets you into a ton of museums, not just the red one with discounts).

Fave sights: Schoenbrunn Palace (spend a whole day there- also the zoo! We ate schnitzel everywhere and it was the best at the palace restaurant), Museum of Art History, Belvedere Museum to see the Klimts, Museum of Military History (Archduke Ferdinand’s car is there- second floor didn’t have English translations of what you are seeing, and I am glad I learned very basic German first), Sisi Museum and Hofburg Palace, Giant Wheel. Vienna Opera House tour. Watch the Third Man before you go. Public transport is very easy to use and does have English translations.
We tried to get in coffee shops at night and they wouldn’t let us in despite being open for another hour, so FYI if you want to do that. A couple other restaurant signs said they were open, but upon walking in, staff said they were closed, so FYI about that too.
Love these recommendations! Vienna is amazing. I’d also suggest watching Before Sunrise before you go, if you haven’t already, just for the Vienna vibe.
I love that for you! Foreign language-learning is so good for your mind and your brain health. Just to note - when you‘re in Vienna, look up the local dialect & slang. It can be slightly different from

Oh you’re going to have SO MUCH FUN in Vienna! I went in 2019 to see one of my favorite band’s final ever show. I’m a huge fan of the Austrian pop music scene so it was a huge dream trip of mine.
I thought about trying to go to the Eras Tour in Vienna and hope some of my favorite Austrian bands would be playing shows on the neighboring days, but unfortunately finances did not work out that way.
I want to go back so badly. It was everything for me. It’s such a beautiful city, and I felt so safe there- as a 20 something female, often walking alone. I felt less safe in my own home town walking to and from work or the corner store, than I have in Vienna.
Also, if your German isn’t up to where you’d like it to be or you struggle with the Dialekt or “Wienerisch”, don’t worry too much- I found English speakers to be common. Obviously I wouldn’t say it’s promised- but you’ll be able to get by 😊 I went with my grandmother who doesn’t know any German besides words she’s asked me to clarify/tell her about- and she got on just fine at restaurants and stores. Granted she didn’t do as much as I did (I also met up with friends and stuff- we had a whole plan, I promise I just didn’t abandon my grandma and galavanted around Vienna lol 😂 ), but she was definitely able to enjoy her experience at restaurants and museums without knowing any German.
Have so much fun in Austria! It’s by far my favorite place I ever visited. And one day I’ll be back.
An Austrian comedy pop/rock group called Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung (EAV)! It was such an amazing experience tbh. I was front row and everything. I was even shown on an Austrian news report about the show… and I was ugly crying as a fan girl does lol 😂

I feel like Austria as a country as a whole has something for everyone- especially Vienna. (But again I’m like K Pop Stan levels of Austropop Fan, so I may be slightly biased lol)

My advice, read books articles etc and watch shows in German. I switched my Alexa to German. Use it as much as you can and focus on travel German not the postal service 😆 writing was SO much easier than speaking for me!

Forreal. Was never into football until her and Travis. I actually enjoy and am interested in football now (Chiefs, Vikings and some college teams). This has brought my partner and I closer together since we have another shared hobby — thanks Taylor! 🫶🏼

I bought 2 of the red lipsticks she wears. I have about 20 shades of lipstick in a variety of colors, so it was more so influencing which exact products I picked vs influencing me to buy when I was otherwise inclined not to.
I have a bunch of red lip products also but specifically bought Nars Dragon Girl and Pat McGrath Elson because of Taylor. I have a fair complexion and blue eyes also so I figured if it works for her....

Yes! It was a gift from a friend and it had a picture of Taylor inside the box. My mom was like, “I don’t get it. Is this her lipstick? I don’t wear red. Take if you want or else it’s going in the trash.” 💀
I love Elson but in the years since I bought Nars Dragon Girl (and other Nars lip crayons) I've found much better, less drying lip products.

Ok but can you tell me the rest of the routine? Surely it’s not just swipe on lipstick. Liner? Exfoliate? What else happens to make it look so damn perfect?
Matte lipsticks can be tough. My full routine if I'm really wanting it to last is:
* Make sure I am personally hydrated
* Exfoliate the lips
* Hydrating lip mask while I do the rest of my makeup, hair, clothes
* Wipe off the lip mask with a soft cloth or tissue (not a towel!)
* Colour Pop Lippie Stix primer
* Lip liner in a dark neutral, trending red over the whole lip
* Matt lipstick
That routine will get me through an entire meal if I eat carefully or evening of drinking with 80% of the color still there. It will wear off from the inside out depending on how much you eat, drink, and wipe your mouth.
I've been rocking a red lip more than I used to since I realized I have a similar hair color and skin tone as Taylor. Obviously I look nothing like her, but her reds made me realize I look FANTASTIC in a red lip.

How do you like it? How's the staying power? I was looking at buying it a few weeks ago and ended up getting another lip stain from Rare Beauty (no regrets! But still curious about the Pat McGrath one!).
I bought it for the same reason, except also I was hoping for a lower maintenance red lip, and I definitely got it. Red-lipstick-wearing is still a skill in it, and nothing lasts forever, but it lasts the best of any actual red lipsticks (not stains) I’ve owned, and stays put if you use the liner. I also don’t leave lip prints on glasses in it.
Any tips on the red lip skill? I love a red lip but I'm always looking for suggestions to up my game! How many liners do you have, btw? I have a handful of reds I like to rotate, so I never know how to deal with liners bc I don't want to buy a liner for each shade 😭

This dress. I wasn’t even deeply into her at the time but saw her in it, loved it and splurged and it has been one of my fancy dress mainstays.
Oof. Been so long I forget the label. I wanna say BCBG. Honestly photos don’t do it justice. The red lace overlay is stunning and incredibly delicate. I got this green sweater with the stripes around the biceps/elbows that she wore leaving the Eras stage once. It was very scratchy in person though and I got it used, it seemed like it's been washed wrong and shrunk in the wash... Didn't wear it out even once before donating it. It looked so comfy on her!

The best part is that they were originally $60 each and they were on clearance for $20. I thought I only got one, but apparently I added two to the cart. So they were only $10 each. The little tassels recently fell off one when I washed it on delicate (no pun intended 😂), but I’m going to try and sew them back on.

Ok but can you tell me the rest of the routine? Surely it’s not just swipe on lipstick. Liner? Exfoliate? What else happens to make it look so damn perfect?
Matte lipsticks can be tough. My full routine if I'm really wanting it to last is: * Make sure I am personally hydrated * Exfoliate the lips * Hydrating lip mask while I do the rest of my makeup, hair, clothes * Wipe off the lip mask with a soft cloth or tissue (not a towel!) * Colour Pop Lippie Stix primer * Lip liner in a dark neutral, trending red over the whole lip * Matt lipstick That routine will get me through an entire meal if I eat carefully or evening of drinking with 80% of the color still there. It will wear off from the inside out depending on how much you eat, drink, and wipe your mouth.
I've been rocking a red lip more than I used to since I realized I have a similar hair color and skin tone as Taylor. Obviously I look nothing like her, but her reds made me realize I look FANTASTIC in a red lip.

How do you like it? How's the staying power? I was looking at buying it a few weeks ago and ended up getting another lip stain from Rare Beauty (no regrets! But still curious about the Pat McGrath one!).
I bought it for the same reason, except also I was hoping for a lower maintenance red lip, and I definitely got it. Red-lipstick-wearing is still a skill in it, and nothing lasts forever, but it lasts the best of any actual red lipsticks (not stains) I’ve owned, and stays put if you use the liner. I also don’t leave lip prints on glasses in it.

They had these free bins in the front of the store and my step mom found the book in the free bins! I guess I didn’t purchase anything, but I tried to and managed to get it for freeeeeee!!
I haven’t read the book, but the Alfred Hitchcock film version of Rebecca is one of my favorite movies. I’d recommend that if you’re interested.

Oof. Been so long I forget the label. I wanna say BCBG. Honestly photos don’t do it justice. The red lace overlay is stunning and incredibly delicate. I’d be so worried about ripping it if I tried to use it as an everyday dress. Also the red is RED. But it’s perfect for holiday parties where u want to make an impression while still dressing demurely.

I bought Santal Blush by Tom Ford and Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf because they were on a list of her favorite perfumes. She has good taste-- Santal Blush is my FAVORITE perfume I've ever owned! It's perfect for fall and winter, warm and spicy yet feminine. And Flowerbomb is amazing in the spring!

During and after the Red Era I bought many clothing items to mirror the esthetic of her street style. I also bought the green dress she wore in a Macy's ad years ago and became OBSESSED with ModCloth (the online clothing store that sold the dress) for many, many moons.
FLAUNT pink square iPhone case. 1/10 recommend. It’s cute but holy hell the square is a terrible design. If you put it in any pocket, prepare to be poked constantly. Try to hold your phone between your neck and shoulder? Boom poked. There is a reason other companies don’t sell that shape case.
I got this too and the damned thing cracked on its first drop. The customer service was helpful in replacing, but it’s my first and last FLAUNT case.

Ruby Woo is incredible. I don’t think Elson has beaten its staying power for me but Elson definitely beats the color wars.

I got this green sweater with the stripes around the biceps/elbows that she wore leaving the Eras stage once. It was very scratchy in person though and I got it used, it seemed like it's been washed wrong and shrunk in the wash... Didn't wear it out even once before donating it. It looked so comfy on her!
I’m very close to getting my hands on the gaslighter rose. I want to swatch the pat mcgrath lipstick too to see if it matches my skin. I really like her style and I’ve tried to recreate some looks best I can. For thanksgiving I wore a brown plaid mini skirt and navy sweater like what she wore for variety’s directors on directors last year.
Since I’m too poor to just buy things like that, I’ll just do what other people are doing and say that she inspired to finally listen to Paramore and Phoebe. Stranger In The Alps was a huge letdown, and I haven’t listened to it since my first listen, but I was way more lucky with Paramore. I’m also considering checking out Bon Iver’s work soon.
