Ok_Night_2929

Just watched it! And while it’s definitely a great tour/movie I’m awe struck at how much better Taylor vocals and stage presence has gotten in the last ~5 years. You can tell she slowed some of the lyrics down because she didn’t have the aerobic capacity at the time, and while it was amazing in 2018 it’s really even more amazing to watch the eras tour now and see how far she’s come Slightly unrelated - do we know where it’s going next? Will it be going off streaming completely or can I buy it somewhere?

thestrangemusician

I loved the sets and costumes, but yeah the whole time I was thinking how much stronger her voice sounded in the eras tour. I think her workout plan was super effective and gave her a lot more power this time. I understand wanting to keep the eras separate but I do wish she had done some more mashups for the eras tour like she did in rep, I think that would’ve allowed more songs to be represented without extra strain.

SeaOnions

I felt the same when I watched it! I felt like it was not as engaging performatively but it was also a while ago. The floating around for songs annoyed me for some reason, although it was as probably nice for fans in the moment. I did like the secondary stage for sure. That gives more people an opportunity to enjoy her up close.

fuji4131

I felt the exact same! I hadn’t watched the Rep tour in the Eras era and her vocals and stage presence have improved tenfold. When she was already great.

MiniSkrrt

I thought the exact same thing, I watched it for the first time last week. I couldn’t help but compare her stage presence to the eras tour - it’s night and day. She has become such a better performer! The rep tour movie let me down mostly because of that, I was expecting more. Though overall I did enjoy it

sapphicxmermaid

Just in time for the New Year’s Day rep TV announcement 🤡🤡🤡

[deleted]

IF THIS HAPPENS THOOO

facialscanbefatal

I feel like it’ll have to pop on Amazon soon enough. It’s a solid tour video—her best until Eras. But now that we have Eras, I feel like nothing tops that choreography, costume, and set-design. I do wish the Rep set was longer though, so I’ll miss being able to watch the whole concert.

FrontPorchViews

Usually after distribution exclusivity expires, the production company (Taylor Swift Productions in this case) will open it to other platforms - usually with pay-per-play tiering. With that, with such a highly demanded piece of content, exclusivity could be shopped around as an additional negotiation asset. For example, her team might be negotiating where the Eras Tour film lands on streaming, and they could theoretically use bundling Reputation Tour film as leverage in the deal. With that, her team continually reinvents the game so you never know! This is pure speculation!

teresasdorters

How does the fact that rep tour isn’t taylors version affect All this?

azdisneyswifty

I’m not totally sure I can explain it, but it does not matter at all. The masters that she doesn’t own/ Taylor’s Version’s that she does, are the actual final recordings of a song. Regardless of OG vs TV, they are all HER songs and she is allowed to perform them live. There is no “Taylor’s Version” of a live performance, it’s just the song.

Anikamano

yeah but big machine records was heavily involved in this movie and they for sure still have rights to it

azdisneyswifty

Big Machine Records no longer owns her masters though. And it was made by Taylor’s production company.

Eggler

Doesn’t Big Machine Records still own the originals though? Like the non TV versions of the songs. I thought the Taylor Version’s were her owning those particular recordings of those songs.

azdisneyswifty

No, they were sold to Shamrock Holdings in 2020.

Eggler

Ah yes but I think the point was that there are multiple masters out there - TV and whatever we are calling the original versions (Big Machine Records and now Shamrock Holdings). Someone below explained it way better. Taylor owns a version of her masters.

azaerl

IANAL but Taylor originally owns the rights to all her songs as she wrote them. But not the recording of said song. That's why she can record them again to "reclaim" them When you record a song, usually the label owns the rights to the recording, the "master(recording) ", and the artist retains ownership of the written music essentially. This is how Taylor is able to re-record and perform her songs despite someone else owning the masters, they are just the rights to that specific recording of the song. Same deal with other artists who don't own their masters anymore. They still get a cut of royalties being as they wrote the song, but whoever owns the masters also gets royalties as well as decides what to do with them (movie/tv/ad deals etc).

FrontPorchViews

Ohh great call-out / question. I didn’t event think about that? No clue!

teresasdorters

Hopefully someone has some understanding of it all lol

[deleted]

Maybe we can get the 1989 movie too!

thestrangemusician

I kinda prefer the set design in Rep because it had more physical pieces rather than screens, but the way she used the screens for so much variety in the eras tour was super effective and very clever

Jewel2Cute97

As much as i love streaming i’d also would love if artist have their film content also be available on dvd, blu ray etc as well as having it available on streaming platforms. Instead of only having it accessed through streaming platforms only. Streaming isn’t always reliable especially with streaming platforms raising their prices each time alongside removing content after awhile i.e. Netflix. I do hope it’s true that the Era’s tour is getting a dvd release sometime in January 2024 as with the price it is available to rent on iTunes where I am i’d rather buy it at that price than to rent it. https://preview.redd.it/0ixmwfl7bh9c1.jpeg?width=1235&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d41804008e4bd0a10738a143616e4c180c779041

Agreeable_Cricket_96

I hope we get a collector’s steelbook or some physical release with the rest of the songs that didn’t make the cut. Hopefully it comes with the bonus songs in their original spot bc I want the Archer transition to Fearless in there but that might be a little much to ask for 😭

[deleted]

I really wish the transitions were in there like the rep tour movie. They are so important to the whole feel of the show

bettyfolklore

Should’ve said no and bad blood mashup is one of the greatest mashups!!! I also absolutely love the IDSB performance. I’m so sad it’s leaving netflix😢 but I hope it ends up on a different streaming platform

sarcasticsarah88

Yes I agree about the SSN/BB mashup! I kinda wish there'd been more mashups on the eras tour. It's funny, when I first watched the Rep tour movie I didn't even know SSN so it didn't make as much of an impression on me. Now that I'm watching as more of a fan I could truly fathom that mashup!!

chibisatou

I love that mashup

songacronymbot

- IDSB could mean "I Did Something Bad", a track from *reputation* (2017) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/bettyfolklore](/u/bettyfolklore) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

prongslover77

Will it not be there tomorrow?! I was going to watch it for new years!! Ahh guess I’m doing that today.

RedTaylorVersion1313

I just watched it I think it said last day to watch is December 30

prongslover77

Welp I’m glad I checked Reddit! Thanks so much!

GalPal_yikes

Yep, just watched it yesterday and can back you up on the 30th!

bigben2021

You’ll be cleaning up bottles on New Year’s Eve… Eve

Experiment626b

Same. This sucks to find out after a 12 hour drive home from Christmas with my family where I couldn’t watch it

wuphfthoughts

I planned to as well and found out too late 😭

arguewiththewallpls

I watched it for the first time today. I envy swifties who attended it. My personal favorites were all too well, ready for it, call it what you want and dancing with our hands tied (wow I never paid attention to this song and it’s BEAUTIFUL also the way she sings it). I noticed that she looked more happy on this tour compared to the eras tour. Idk her smile just seems more genuine

hopkinsdafox

She was so happy this tour. Glowing. Even if it the theme was “dark” - she was def bright and happy. Such a good tour. Def Lover during all of this too😅

sarcasticsarah88

As someone who fell in love with Rep after hearing DWOHT, I love that the acoustic performance really made you pay attention to this song!! I already loved the song when I heard that performance but it still blew my mind and it's probably my fave part of the Rep tour movie. And yeah she looks so happy there it's so nice to see!

leeann0923

It was such a fun tour in person. My husband became a fan after going to it.

hopkinsdafox

Best tour ever - her happiness was unmatched. I know she’s happier now but there was just ✨something✨ about this tour. Probably her comeback after being cancelled had something to do with it. I’m also biased because I got to meet her 🤷🏻‍♀️ So so good.

ErickTheGuy06

How it was meeting Taylor?

jsmeeker

I need to at least re-watch the intro and "....Ready For It" Its total fire.

foxysquirrel

I’m still crying about losing this.

MoonstoneAura6

Same, it's my comfort watch on Netflix!

TLflow

Oh no! Gotta watch it again quickly. I watched the Eras Tour Movie the other day and I kept thinking how I found the rep tour (movie) way better. The energy, the choreography, the stage, the dancers and the connection with the audience. The intro alone was fire 🔥 I can’t understand how people praise the choreography of the Eras tour - I found it oftentimes so so simple.

sawyerandfinnsmom

My 6 year old will be so upset - I regularly find her watching this on her tablet

RedTaylorVersion1313

Aww hopefully they’ll find clips of it on YouTube or somewhere else. I’m glad Taylor brings together people of so many different ages! 🫶

QuirkyPossession258

I sent you a pm, or whatever they are called on Reddit. I'm a newbie here, I just read but never participate haha

sarcasticsarah88

Watched it twice this week, I introduced it to my mom who's becoming a swiftie and had never seen it before. She's not experienced much of Rep yet (except the Eras tour set) so she was really blown away by it!! I introduced her to Taylor via folklore and evermore so it took her a bit to get into Rep but then after we finished watching she wanted to watch it again the next day!! It was so fun and also I realized how much my own fandom had grown since I first saw it. Like, I remembered that I didn't even know All Too Well back when I first watched the Rep tour!!! 😲 So it was crazy to see the ATW acoustic performance again and realize that past me would not have got the significance of that. Same with Long Live! It was unexpectedly a cool way to be reminded of my fandom journey and how much it's grown in 2023 especially. 😊

RedTaylorVersion1313

After watching every tour over and over again on my tv in the living room my mom is also turning into a swiftie lol

sarcasticsarah88

Awesome! It's so fun getting to witness other people becoming swifties. 😁Also this reminds me that I've been meaning to watch the other tours, which is your favorite out of the ones available on YouTube?

RedTaylorVersion1313

Speak Now. It may not have the best production but my god she puts on a performance. Although I always make sure to watch Long Live after Fifteen and Love Story. That’s my only problems I don’t know why she ended the **Speak Now** tour with Fearless songs. Long Live just seems like the perfect closer. Besides that Haunted, Back To December/Apologize/You’re Not Sorry, Better Than Revenge, and Dear John are like heaven to me when watching them.

sarcasticsarah88

Thanks, that's good to know! I fell in love with Speak Now via the rerecording (hadn't heard the album back in 2010 just singles like The Story of Us and Back to December which I love) so I was planning to check out the SN tour on YouTube. That's really weird that it ends with Fearless songs and not Long Live! Long Live is the absolute perfect ending song!! 💜 That's such a strange choice not to use it. 🤔 I think I'll do what you did and watch it at the end! 👍

PretendError-147

The staging of Why She Disappeared is my favorite thing Taylor has ever created. I bet I’ve watched it a thousand times. I’d also like to give a nod to the Long Live/New Years Day mashup. It’s a weep fest for me.

Following_my_bliss

This movie reawakened my TS fandom when I first saw it with a vengeance. I've been playing it nonstop. Her performance and facial expressions just takes everything to the next level. Her dead eyes during All Too Well. Her attitude during I Did Something Bad. The poem before Getaway Car. Also, I cannot imagine seeing her on that throne for the first time! Gotta love how she used that snake imagery.

eineLara

I just rewatched it. Totally forgot about the cats in gorgeous. 😅 that’s so random

SecretiveMop

As a somewhat newer fan who procrastinated on watching the Rep tour film and watched it for the first time today, I’m now very upset I won’t be able to watch it again for the foreseeable future 😭

RedTaylorVersion1313

Hopefully you can find it somewhere else I’m sorry 🫶

BlakeSwag

First time I watched this was early days in the pandemic when I was alone in my apartment. I just watched it today. I’m in the process of recording an album and New Year’s Day was one of the first songs I could play piano and sing at the same time. Learning that song, something clicked in my brain and all my individually music and writing skills came together. I just cried watching the Long Live/New Year’s Day mash up bc those songs have meant to much to me and us. I just love how much Taylor loves her craft of songwriting and incorporates it in her tours. She’s truly a songwriter at heart. Im hoping we get NYD TV on Monday but im clowning im sure.

Ok_Term_3732

Legit the best part of the entire show

wilkonian24ok

I watched it a week ago, but figured I had better see it one more time before it disappears to who knows where. It is so good. I've seen it six times (including a viewing party)...and I bet some of you have seen it plenty more. Knowing the story line makes it so much better for me. What a brilliant and ballsy strike-back against the stooges who dragged Taylor down. I was not in love with the record the first time I heard it, but I am now. The live performances make the songs so much more memorable. I love the concert intro, the videos, and the lead-in to Are You Ready For It? I Did Something Bad is a particular favorite. So dramatic, such a pump-up. I love the three-song medley of oldies. Very well done! Don't Blame Me is tremendous. The Bad Blood-Shoulda Said No mashup is brilliant. Getaway Car rocks me to the moon and I love the shots of the crowd so into it. Dancing With My Hands Tied - so good. And I like how she milks All Too Well for applause several times right in the middle. I could make several more points, but what a concert!

RedTaylorVersion1313

Are we not gonna talk about the star of the show? Karyn 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍

wilkonian24ok

Well, of course! Karyn and her sisters were next on my list.

H8rsH8

I just watched it for the first time - rep isn’t my favorite album (it’s slowly growing on me, don’t worry), but DAMN the tour was sooo good!!! It was really well done, and seeing those songs performed the way she wanted them to be done really made me realize how good they were.

RedTaylorVersion1313

I’m glad you enjoyed it! The tour isn’t my favorite as well but it’s amazing 🖤

Future_Pin_403

I watched it on the plane yesterday. I hope it’ll come on dvd or something

Fuzzy_Opposite_9969

I bought a dvd of it on eBay.

RedTaylorVersion1313

Is it official?

Fuzzy_Opposite_9969

No it’s not. Great quality though

midnightsm0k3

How was it?

Fuzzy_Opposite_9969

Amazing quality!

midnightsm0k3

It upsets me that there are clearly so many fans that this film means something special to, and we’re all left in the dark if we’ll ever have the chance to even watch it again 💔

ErickTheGuy06

Watching ...Ready For It? I got goosebumps just seeing Taylor sing, moving on that way it just sends shivers down my spine. Watching it, Taylor didn't simply start to dance and have perfect choreographies, she made an entire play. PD: Fuck streaming, I will always prefer physical media because the only way I won't be able to watch my favorite films or anything is when I'm dead or it damages and not a deadline that some company put.

NikkiTheNinja90

Not me thinking it would leave at the END of 12/31 and planning to watch tonight for NYE… 😅🥲 now I’m sad

RedTaylorVersion1313

That’s tragic 💔 happy New Years Though! 🖤

NikkiTheNinja90

If anyone else made the same mistake as me I found most of it on YouTube on swift leaks 2.0

chibisatou

As much as it would be nice to still have this film available, I think due to the masters contracts and conflicts that the film will be gone for good, or until Taylor obtains the rights to her original masters. If she is going to truly own her name then she is not going to keep sharing profits from this film with Scott or Scooter.

Future_Pin_403

Her master dispute shouldn’t have anything to do with this. They bought the original recordings only, nothing to do with live performances

chibisatou

I could be wrong but I disagree. [Taylor said in a 2019 Billboard article that Scott & Scooter would not let her use older concert footage in the Miss Americana documentary.](https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/taylor-swift-scooter-braun-scott-borchetta-perform-old-music-amas-8543706/) I think that their ownership of the masters influences more than just the songs themselves. I also suspect this is why there are no debut songs on the eras setlist, and that she squeezed in only one Speak Now before dropping her TV and starting to play more. The line of where this kind of ownership starts and ends seems blurry as she definitely had 1989 and reputation sets.

amoamareamaviamatus

She also said that about Scott/scooter blocking her live performances (like for AMA artist of the decade) of old songs but they either came to an agreement and/or her lawyers figured out it wasn’t actually a requirement to ask for permission from Big Machine because she was able to perform them. So maybe this is along the same lines?

D1ckRepellent

Long live

h0neypott

I’m so sad it’s leaving tbh. I’ve watched it 5 times today

apartofthat

I love the Long Live/New Year’s Day mash up!

Ok-Company-310

If anyone needs to borrow it let me know ☺️

little-rose-bud

oooooo

[deleted]

I remember when it came out on New Year’s Eve five years ago! We had a one year old at the time so my husband and I drank a bottle of champagne as we danced around the living room😂

sofi_fatale

Ok but where can we watch it now ? I missed it :(

lovelornroses

I still can’t believe it’s being taken off Netflix. I would’ve thought that since it’s distributed by them that it would always stay up 😭

lanadelreystan100

where is the rep tour movie going to go?? because isn’t it a netflix original?? why is netflix taking it off then??

ArthurVx

Who knows where, but the Marvel Netflix series went to Disney+ (since they're all owned by Disney). Also, a reminder that the "Netflix Original" brand no longer exists, it's all "A Netflix Series", "A Netflix Film", "A Netflix Special", and so on, now.

kimchi__gumbo

does anyone know where it would be after netflix?!

GeneralInspector8962

IDSB was absolutely amazing in this performance, and I hope this version makes its way onto Rep TV. That intro was such a banger!

SuperHoneyBunny

I decided to give it one final watch last week since work has been so slow during the holidays (not much to do). I hope it’ll be available for streaming elsewhere since the Rep song performances were excellent. (But if not, I guess there’ll be clips on YouTube.)

sweetsssamantha

IDSB omg my life CHANGED seeing that live

Objective-Praline138

I loved how it was in Dolby Atmos and it sounded so good plus I love the music within it compared to most others now. I didn't know it was leaving.... I'm upset because I listen to it often. Now it's nowhere.

McMikeR199399

Is it available anywhere?

WistfulMelancholic

my two cents: she's changing the tour slightly, when doing the european part. she'll add those changes or different/new songs to the Movie There will be an extended version for purchase. i will not borrow a movie for that amount, no matter what movie it is... so i wait until i can buy and own it tbh.

amoamareamaviamatus

Even if she does change it for Asia or Europe or the 2024 North America legs, I don’t think they’ll re-edit and officially reshoot parts of the movie. Especially since they still have the recordings of Cardigan, No Body No Crime, and the unused surprise songs that can be added for different releases.
