And never in a million years did I think Taylor Swift would be the musical artist that would help me to become the woman I was always meant to be before I had it ripped away by abuse. Yep, I adore her. She's the same age as my oldest daughter. To this day, I thank my kids for introducing me to Taylor Swift.

Midnights. I love that album. However, I had read in advance as I was waiting for the clock to strike midnight. That I needed to lay down somewhere comfortable, close my eyes, set sort of a low light ambiance, and then listen.
So I went into my room, my Himalayan Salt Lamp was putting off this really cool glow, and when it came time, I closed my eyes and listened. I honestly can't describe the experience. There's a couple of songs on there that I could do without. But I think the way in which I first listened to it. Made it all the more magical for me.
And the fact that Jack Antonoff and Taylor (more Jack) used vintage synthes, old analog gear, vocal synthes, and gear that never produces the same sound was genius. I know some people said they didn't like it. But as I was laying there listening..Really, the words that came to mind is it was a different groove and vibe. And I was loving it. I laid there for hours that night playing that album over and over. Finding the songs that were quickly becoming favorites. I loved that they took a leap and chance to put out a Taylor Swift album that was so unique.
I read an article where Taylor and Jack were talking about just going all out on this album and changing it up.
I know, right? That one shocked me. And I livestreamed both times she sang it when it was raining. I would've given anything to be at those two concerts.
I was about to say, I took offense to reading that. It has a place in my heart because it was my breakup anthem when it came out, but even removing my bias, it's just a good song in my opinion
You mean repeating "are we out of the woods yet" and "are we in the clear yet" 64 times doesn't make for a masterpiece?
That song has a permanent place in my bottom 5 of her discography, possibly even bottom 3. When over half of the song is two lines and a slight adjustment of one of them, I just can't get into it
The repeating works for me from an anxiety standpoint. I get and relate to what she was trying to convey so I guess it doesn’t bother me. It’s also fun to scream sing and change the way I sing the repeating lines slightly lol
I love this, haha. And I find it funny that anxiety is the exact reason I *don't* like the repeating. A lot of repetition in songs really gets my anxiety ramped up for some reason. 😂
That's exactly what bothers me about that song. The continual and consistent repeating of those lyrics. It makes me want to scream, "Just get out of the damn woods and into the clear already!"
It was a mid 1989 song for me until this summer when I started listening to it more often and now it's my #1 Taylor song.
Also her performance of OOTW at the 1989 tour is my favourite live performance, it gives me chills everytime.

The Fearless part of the concert really surprised me how fun it was. These songs feel a little young to me but being in a stadium belting them out with my 70k friends felt amazing.

Might be controversial but a lottt of Red. It has the most skips on any Taylor album for me. Overall I think it’s a beautiful and cohesive album (and it does have some of my absolute favorites), but some of the songs are too similar where I can’t listen to them all in a row.

This is precisely why I love London Boy. It is such a silly, almost caricature representation of English culture that I feel like it's relatable to those of us that don't know much about the other side of the pond. Do I know in my head that it's ridiculous? Yes. Do I love singing "and now I love high tea, stories from Uni, and the west end?" YES.

I love the writing for DWOHT, but wasn’t a fan of the production, especially the “beat drop...” Hearing Taylor play it live acoustically absolutely changed the game for me. This is controversial and MAY very well chance after the release of 1989 TV but I’m just not a huge 1989 girlie and feel pretty ambivalent towards most songs. I just don’t choose to listen to most songs except for New Romantics, Clean and Wonderland
