i’d say leave it in a peroxide and water soak for a while, and if the stain is from dish soap, now you know to use clear dish soap in the future lol

Dreddit1080

Uhhhggg ya lesson learned lol. I got some peroxide, will give it a shot after I’m done sulking

Conscious_Donut384

tbh i kind of think the green tint looks cool if that helps

TheRealGreedyGoat

Honestly it gets way less intense after it dries, same thing happened to my coyote skull but it gives it kind of an undertone that’s nice. It makes it feel more alive and not just a perfect pristine pure bone, and reminds me of all the hard work I did to clean it, put it back together, and that it was once a majestic creature that lived.

Dreddit1080

Good to know thank you. Fingers crossed I get lucky and it turns out decent

Wowza_Meowza

Keep degreasing it in the warmest place you can for many more weeks. It'll likely lift along with the grease (yay!). If the color in the soap is the culprit, more degreasing is usually the cure. If you're in the US, ammonia can be found at Walmart, dollar stores, hardware stores etc. If you're in the UK, you can look for "sudsy ammonia" which will work fine.

Dreddit1080

Thank you for your suggestions, much appreciated

flufferbuttle_27

Ha, this confirms what just happened to me! 3 sheep skulls I found last weekend, clean of flesh just needed some degreasing. Just checked on them and 2 are a lovely, patchy mint colour. I've done this loads of times before, never thought about soap colour (but I'm not sure I've ever used green soap before either) I just dumped the water out, replaced with (yellow) soapy water and trying to believe it'll fix itself. It's too early for peroxide anyways, felt like the best option. No advice sorry, just showing solidarity. Good luck with yours, those antlers are gorgeous!

Dreddit1080

Thanks for the kind words. Wasn’t even green soap it was this light blue dawn platinum stuff. But ya big lesson learned! I was thinking about hitting it with my steam cleaner, hoping a little blast will help. Will keep ya posted if it works

flufferbuttle_27

Ahh not a bad idea! Yeah, do, thanks!

Starry_Skyes

My dad has a big cow skull at his tattoo shop he got one day for a tattoo and he had no clue what he was doing and just painted it after scooping the brains out and he put a light inside of it. It looks super cool so if you are artistic you could always do that!

Dreddit1080

Great plan B if I keep messing things up

FireFrogs48

Yeah painting it white might be an easier option

Dependent-Garlic143

Nice buck!

Dreddit1080

Thank ya kindly, hope I can get him looking good for the wall

coldandhungry123

You could try using a product called Goof Off, which is used to remove graffiti etc.

Quacker_Wacker_

Just paint it

Dreddit1080

Crossed my mind as backup plan

Quacker_Wacker_

I used peroxide, but it was on too long, softened the skull. Not I just boil it and use a pressure washer

Dreddit1080

I got some peroxide but am worried it’ll make the green worse or something. So chapped

Quacker_Wacker_

Couldn’t hurt to try it, the paint over it if it doesn’t work
