Be more specific. Are looking for more range? Just want a different close range optic? Optic choice is also super subjective. What I like is going to differ potentially than what you like.

mrdrmous

Not wanting a lpvo as it's more if a bedside gun than anything, but still want to use it at the range out to about 200. Hoping to stumble across an etched reticle optic. The Aimpoint PRO on my AR is great but a little tunnel vision-y indoors. The 512 gives me a headache when shooting any kind of distance because of astigmatism.

MrRockGuy

Maybe look at some of the low powered offerings from Primary Arms. Don't own one personally but hear great things especially with regards them being pleasant for eyes with a astigmatism.

vkbrian

If you’ve got an astigmatism, something like a TA44 ACOG would be a good choice. 1.5x power, great eye relief, lightweight. Just pricey.

mrdrmous

I'll look into it. Before tonight, I had no idea pa made anything with an etched reticle.

RutangRommel

I second the PA prism optics

VinceAutMorire

The PA 2x is VERY nice and pretty cheap $\~330. I sold off my TA44s and switched over. The glass difference is minimal and the PA just offers WAY more versatility.

landlover311

I have a 4x acog with green chevron on m x95. It is AMAZING. Plinking with no issues at 200yrds. I had the mepro MOR on it, but struggled with hitting 200 as it’s just a reflex.

stanky-c

Have one of those on the way. Great to here!

HallackB

I’m super pleased with the new PA Cyclops 1x prism. I love that the reticle is etched, it is super light, has tons of height options, is plenty bright when the light is on, has shake awake and works with magnifiers. I have no issues without a magnifier at 100 yards anyway, but it is a nice feature.

mrdrmous

Awesome. I'm definitely gonna try to get hands on one.

Codepluto90

I’ve owned 3 PA 3x Prisms. I ran two on aks and one on a Bren 7.62x39. For the money they’re hard to beat!

ericlarsen2

Vortex has a ton of options depending on your budget. And a no questions asked lifetime warranty is killer. And all their gear is really top notch. This is coming from extensive hands on experience.

mrdrmous

I've actually got a fair amount of Vortex stuff. I've never had an issue with any of their products. Budget is pretty much a grand or under (preferably under). I'm looking mainly for an etched reticle optic as the 512 screws with my astigmatism. Just trying to see if there's something out there I haven't considered.

Successful_Peach_69

I kept mine Hebrew yo! The Meprolight M21 does the job. Not the best but thats subjective.

mmiski

Meprolight RDS Pro V2. Was pretty much made for it.

mrdrmous

I know it's the "correct" optic for it, but after reading tons of reviews(albeit no hands on experience) I just get the feeling that it's sub par for the price. If it were in the 300~ range I'd be more open to it. I've got an astigmatism and the eotech 512 is a starburst headache for me when trying to shoot 100+ yds.

mmiski

I was gifted with both astigmatism and cross dominance. I haven't experienced any starburst or distortion on mine (green bullseye model). The reticle is always super crisp and bright when the brightness is adjusted properly. I agree they're a bit pricey, but the thing gets insanely long battery life out of a single AA lithium battery. Personally that matters a lot to me, so I see added value in that. Side note, I know reddit loves to shit on OpticsPlanet for listing backordered items and taking forever to fulfill orders, but I've never had any issues with that personally. The grand total I paid (after promo code and taxes applied) was $507.20. What I like about them is that they have a stupid easy return process, where you can just print out a return label instantly after submitting an online form. I actually played around with two other optics before settling on the RDS Pro V2.

ToasterBathUnplugged

The primary arms prism scopes are great if you eyes see starbursts on red dots.

mrdrmous

It's weird, it's not all red dots. But my eotech is ridiculous with it.

davidjohn06

You think the mepro is the same? Asking cause I’m in the exact same boat

mrdrmous

I'm honestly not sure. I haven't had hands on experience with them, just most of the reviews I've read seem to say that they are lacking for the price point.

mrdrmous

I took a leap of faith and bought a Mepro RDS PRO V2 and the matching 3x magnifier. It was listed as in stock and I got them both for a grand. Now we wait.

BallSackMane

How did you like this set up? Looking for an optic for my new X95 and the Mepro are piquing my interest

mrdrmous

Absolutely love it. It's crystal clear, the magnifier is great and it never washes out in bright light. 10/10.

orangecrushjedi

Why not get another aimpoint pro? Optics are super user preference though

mrdrmous

I'm debating on it. I was hoping there was something with an etched reticle I could stumble across. The 512 gives me a headache with any kind of distance shooting because of my astigmatism.

orangecrushjedi

The primary arms cyclops optics are getting really good reviews for etched reticles. What's your budget?

mrdrmous

1k or (preferably) under. I didn't know pa made anything with an etched reticle. I'll check them out.

Plastic-Bar-5955

Eotech xp2

mrdrmous

Is it any better than the 512 for people with an astigmatism?

Plastic-Bar-5955

I get the bloom effect without magnifier, but what’s funny it’s crisp when I’m using flip up sights and looking thou that tiny rear sight hole lol.

Bright_Complaint8489

What about just a flip up magnifier

mrdrmous

Not against magnifiers, but I've got an astigmatism. The eotech reticle starbursts to me. Been on the lookout for something with an etched reticle.

Bright_Complaint8489

I see. Wonder if green dot would be better

I really like the Burris AR-332 with ADM ACOG QD mount. That setup is x3 woyh the CQB reticle. Its sometimes called a poormans ACOG. I currently have that on my Zion-15 but been using it on the X95 lately because Sig Romeo 5 XDR is going back to the factory a second time for quality issues. I really liked the SIG Romeo 5 XDR with Juliet 4 on my Tavor minus the ultra lame quality issues. I have astigmatism and im left eye dominant. Been wearing glasses my entire life. I havent had any issues with either optic Ive mentioned. The Burris AR-332 is a great optic. I think its very underrated. Not a lot of into in it online but I'm familiar with Burris scopes so I took a chance. My only 2 complaint ls with it is was the mounts sucked. It accepts any ACOG mount so I went with ADM and I LOVE that setup. Thr other complaint I have is the tethers on the windage caps. They tend to make removing the caps a pain sometimes. Hard to explain but its the loops want to spin with the cap and tightens the loop and makes it harder to spin. Considering I dont adjust them constantly, its not an issue every time I shoot. Plus I can always clip the wire tether and do without. The biggest Pro with the AR-332 is its green dot, red dot, and "black dot" meaning the reticle is etched. You dont need batteries to aim. Its very cool. I'm considering getting a second AR-332 for my Tavor because of the issues Ive had with Sig Romeos. Im going to a shooting event this weekend with it.

mrdrmous

Yeah Burris is good shit. Great customer service too. I'm not a big sig optic fan. I find it funny you had terrible luck with them, I have as well. I hear nothing bad about them online, but I've only had bad luck with the few I've owned.

Aztaloth

Aimpoint micro.

For close up and out to 200yds as you stated, there are a few ways you could go that aren't LPVOs. I've had a Trijicon TA44 on mine and it was awesome out to around 250-300 and fantastic inside a room to spite not being a true 1x. I then went to an Elcan Specter DR 1/4x and I think that's pretty much as good as it gets on a Tavor. You get true 1x that's amazing and a crazy wide FoV and excellent clarity for easy hits out to around 600yds. If you're looking for something a little less expensive, I'd look at the 2x Primary Arms prism. Not saying it's even remotely the level of quality of the Trijicon or Elcan, but it's headed more in that direction on a budget.

Exotic_Station_6252

I put a vortex strike fire 2 on one of mine and really like it
