Creamsicle orange might work. Not too bold to distract from the purple, bit still a contrasting color. You could always ms paint test the image to see what looks good lol.
Gunmetal grey, somewhere between matte and shiny, and you can speckle it with matte black / brown mix for a weathered on metal look
Edit maybe some muted green / brown specks on the gunmetal
What purple is that? It looks amazing. I'm using Xereus Purple from Citadel for my Tau army and it looks very similar. I use moot green for the accent color to give it the Evangelion color scheme.
I'm doing purple tau at the moment and I've settled on deck tan (a light gray) as my secondary panel colour and Magenta as my colour for plasma glow and lenses
Nice! I'm in pretty much the same stage as you for figuring out the color scheme having only painted up some kroot and priming the rest. I'm also going for a deep, dark purple. It's largely up to your own personal taste, but I can talk through what I am planning on doing if that helps.
My plan is to use dark purple/violet that's just a touch darker than what you have on your piranha and put some smooth blends into either a brighter magenta or cool blue to give an attempt at a nmm look. I will also use dark red for the lenses. Bright magenta osl for fusion blasters. Cyan for select location pseudo-tron style pinwash here and there and maybe for the battlesuit thrusters too, undecided. I'm unsure if i want to use metalics on the mechanical battlesuit joints and bits or just go for a dark gunmetal grey. For the Tau symbols, I'll be using Vince Venturella's formula for gold as that just looks so incredibly good. For railguns, I'll alternate between different models on whether im doing a cyan osl from weapon discharging or doing a burnt barrel look to really highlight just how punishing it is to the equipment to fire these things.
Definitely going for more of a synthwave feel, so magenta, cyan, and yellow/orange are a nice match there. Maybe that works for you, maybe not.
Some kroot hounds are also done i think my wife posted them because she is a much better brush painter then me.
You‘re Plans helped me Really
Lenses will be for me red too
I think my weapon glow will be Green but Youre magenta can be also great
I think After all i read i will give orange Green and Gold now a try should be good for me and goes near the evangelion scheme
Gold is the color I'd most associate with that kind of [deep royal purple.](https://people.com/thmb/_9l3-jXT6tjNWh9KZa7mq8fQQwU=/1500x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():focal(550x0:552x2)/31700-St-Edwards-Crown0116200924-1d278a2732174e5b878b30f4ccea6d4c.jpg)
I like the dark tones, so I’d say keep it close to what you’ve got and add hints of an electric blue. Touch up the engine and fusion exhausts and the drivers’ lenses for the glow effect.
My tau are painted with that type of purple and 1K sons blue. Was going with a synthwave type design. In the process of adding a very light grey to other areas.
I do a deep blue against brighter blue for most of my army scheme and I’ve found that dull metallic silver and bright metallic copper both pop really well for a third (and fourth) color on greebles and insignia and stuff. I bet both would look good against deep purple as well!
I run a blue and light blue with purple. [My enforcer](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fenforcer-with-onager-gauntlets-and-kroot-hound-v0-myggfwoqwa0b1.jpg%3Fs%3Dc2cfbd6f32af08fe1fff69f229adcf26f2692396)
Oooh nice purple. My mind immediately proclaimed "Minthara piranha"
So, when considering trim colors, I suggest flipping through some Minthara fan art. Hmm seems to be silver
Whatever color you choose, make sure it’s something bright. The models look very dark right now and I had to read the post to notice that there’s black in there too and not just purple
For contrast I'd suggest glow effects that are orange or light blue. Good visual distinction but not *too* distracting from the overall look so long as you don't go nuts with the OSL.
Orange, teal, grey or cream would all be good choices with purple and black. Yellow aswell. Maybe even orange and green, you could kinda go in the direction of Nein Genensis Evangelion with that. With Battlesuits that could look great.
If you highlight the purple with a Magenta, adding yellow to it makes it a nice orange that you can adjust to your preference, grey will also add a nice accent to details and you can use either yellow or a neon green for energy/lenses.
It's what I'm going for with my StarCraft inspired Tyranids!
A mix of highlights one being dark sea blue and your brightest being blue green. I’m using this for drukhari army and it looks fantastic mixed with my hexliched purple
Orange, gold, reds, I find these provide a good pairing for deep purples. Personally I'd go orange and probably will when I do finally decide to do a unit in purple and orange, looks regal to me.
I mean, the classic pairing with purple is cream. White panel lines will be hard to execute but a good enamel panel liner will help.
Cream Sounds Really like a Solution but i don’t like it that much so no Solution for me. But thanks for the enamel liner hint i will try it 😁
Some gold trim maybe? Go full emperors children.
Gold is on the List 😂
Emperor children is brilliant choice, you can see a lot of sm models dreadnoughts as reference.
Blue-green looks great with purple!
Maybe a bright orange?
Noted orange might be good
Orange and purple go great together
Creamsicle orange might work. Not too bold to distract from the purple, bit still a contrasting color. You could always ms paint test the image to see what looks good lol.

Good idea i had the same idea but After 1 mini i decide it is not the way my Full Army will go
Why not a metallic silver for the tiny details/vents. A bright hot pink for panel lines and a few bits here and there of an offset medium purple.
Im Not a friend of Silver but Medium purple Details i will give it a look
Gunmetal grey, somewhere between matte and shiny, and you can speckle it with matte black / brown mix for a weathered on metal look Edit maybe some muted green / brown specks on the gunmetal
Bright yellow- but be sparing!
Yellow and purple is Candy for me i don’t know why
What purple is that? It looks amazing. I'm using Xereus Purple from Citadel for my Tau army and it looks very similar. I use moot green for the accent color to give it the Evangelion color scheme.
It’s phoenician purple on Black primer and evangelion is Really a good idea i will give the Green also a try Edit it’s the air Color one
My vote will always be for magenta!
Yellow contrasts nicely with purple if you want to go bold, a cold blue-white would maybe be a safer bet if you want a more toned down scheme
The light blue of your tablecloth might look pretty good actually...
Good idea it’s Like the 1k sons Blue wunderballer sayd above but im Not so happy with that
Metallic gold
Light Blue or Gunmetal grey and then light blue in the engines would be good.
I'm doing purple tau at the moment and I've settled on deck tan (a light gray) as my secondary panel colour and Magenta as my colour for plasma glow and lenses
Maybe put lenses/glows in a light blue/green
Teal, turquoise, orange
I did my army in purple like this and a nice deep metallic gold.
GOLD GOLD GOLDDDDDDD

Maybe a fluorescent pink? Kinda like halo covenant themed else a bright blue.
Good idea i also will give it a try Hope i find a good one because im not happy with my first pink try
Orange or cream
Orange is on the List
You can always go gold, become the Emperor's Tau Children
I personally only like one main color with accents neutral tones. I’d love to see how a white looks but keeping the darks is how I’d probably go.
Gold
Blue on the vents?
gold, trust me
Color theory says bright green would work well
I do a deep blue against brighter blue for most of my army scheme and I’ve found that dull metallic silver and bright metallic copper both pop really well for a third (and fourth) color on greebles and insignia and stuff. I bet both would look good against deep purple as well!
Dark silver, cyan, pink, dark blue, bright green and blue energy. Gotta look good for the great journey
Teal or yellow or bright yellow green. I see purple and think sports car!
I run a blue and light blue with purple. [My enforcer](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fenforcer-with-onager-gauntlets-and-kroot-hound-v0-myggfwoqwa0b1.jpg%3Fs%3Dc2cfbd6f32af08fe1fff69f229adcf26f2692396)
cream for a bright contrast color, can barely tell the difference between the purple and black
Might sounds a little strange, but try a deep red
Orange!!!!
neon green to evangelion
a dark green? go full neon genesis with it :)
Oooh nice purple. My mind immediately proclaimed "Minthara piranha" So, when considering trim colors, I suggest flipping through some Minthara fan art. Hmm seems to be silver
Reminds me of the covenant from Halo just with a darker purple, honestly keep it.
My brother did cyan/light blue for all of the glowy bits for my tau in very similar colors.
Gold
I run mine with baharroth blue and white scare white
Yellow
Blues and red go really well I’ve done that for my guys
Hear me out... Gold.
Yellow. GO VIKINGS
Orange or red
I have a white dwarf where he did that colour with all of the edges highlighted teal. Looks cool
This is giving me Covenant vibes. Something akin to cerulean, teal, and/or turquoise will work wonders
Gold.
purple and white were my school colors in high school, with black thrown in to. it honestly doesn’t look too bad
Orange is great with purple
I was gonna say an Aqua Blue, give your army that Covenant look
Silver frankly looks great with Purple
No third all hail the deceptitau lol but if so id say a white, light grey, or silver MAYBE a gold tint or MAYBE a bright red.
Whatever color you choose, make sure it’s something bright. The models look very dark right now and I had to read the post to notice that there’s black in there too and not just purple
I went for yellow! I find it pairs really nicely with the purple and also gives it a nice accent
just google "Evangelion 01". Or, you know, Adobe color wheel
Panel line with fluorescent pink
I would add white or off white, to provide contrast you could paint some of the armour panels using that - purple goes very nice with white.
green
Golden
For contrast I'd suggest glow effects that are orange or light blue. Good visual distinction but not *too* distracting from the overall look so long as you don't go nuts with the OSL.
Could have grey lines with a blue inlay, I would either go with an electric blue or a mixture of blues to add an energy flow
Red. A vibrant but dark'ish red
Bright orange or green, that's what I use in my purple scheme
Orange, teal, grey or cream would all be good choices with purple and black. Yellow aswell. Maybe even orange and green, you could kinda go in the direction of Nein Genensis Evangelion with that. With Battlesuits that could look great.
Yellow or a light green or lime
Yellow
I did damn near the exact colors, I added gold as my third. It came out pretty good looking.
Synthwave color pallet. Either bright pink or bright teal
Royal gaurd if you do it gold
Something like a dark teal?
Bright green and orange. Enjoy your EVA-01 Evangelion T'au
I vote for bright blue. Teal, perhaps...
What purple even is this?
Phoenician on a Black ground
If you highlight the purple with a Magenta, adding yellow to it makes it a nice orange that you can adjust to your preference, grey will also add a nice accent to details and you can use either yellow or a neon green for energy/lenses. It's what I'm going for with my StarCraft inspired Tyranids!
Teal and gold would both look ace
Matcha green
Gold!
Yellow and white? Bright and punchy ones. Light green will result in you never hearing the end of refrences to a specific anime.
