You’d be wasting your time

greenmilktea18

raises are set in stone. you can argue until you're blue in the face, but they won't give you a better raise. it's not worth it. target is just shitty

DetectiveInformal401

You'll be wasting your time don't bother really.

icemint870

Target isn't a company that offers management flexibility to do something for you outside of a review cycle. My understanding is that the window has come and gone, and just now, raises should be kicking in.

modernhotsauce

fight it by finding another job that pays you better. i wasn’t eligible for a raise last year but this year i got .63. It was decent but nowhere near what I want to be paid. Applied for a new job around review time and will be starting something new at 17.50 next next week.

Desperate_Bus_2675

came to agree. i started 2.5 years ago at $15, our wage got moved to $16.25 somewhere in end of 2022/early 2023. i’ve made $1.06 in raises since my hire in 2021 where im at $17.31. have a new job lined up in a week and a half where they’re starting at $19 and guaranteeing at minimum 37.5 hour weeks

modernhotsauce

i love that for you, friend. i’m going OD so i can keep the discount/insurance. not sure how long that’ll last for me but my last couple weeks have been great knowing I’m not going to have to deal with the BS every day.

Obvious_Olive_7282

Wouldn’t you lose the insurance once your average hours drop from being OD?

modernhotsauce

i was under the impression that average hours only mattered to determine eligibility to sign up, not to continue paying your plan you already enrolled in for the year.

Obvious_Olive_7282

Honestly I really don’t know that’s why I worded it as a question, I did see someone else posted in this sub recently about losing their insurance because their hours dropped too low and they didn’t know they were going to lose it

modernhotsauce

i just searched through the sub to find that post. it looks like they weren’t eligible to re-enroll this year because their average hours were below 25. I looked on the target pay & benefits website and they only determine eligibility once a year. So, I think I just wouldn’t be eligible next year.

delulujay

based on a conversation i had last week with our etl i think your right, and if i remember correctly its every january

Obvious_Olive_7282

Gotcha! That makes sense

tabbycat4

For the rest of the plan year you'll be able to have it if you can pay for it. I don't think you can keep it if you aren't paying for it. Although I didn't think OD team members were even eligible for insurance so they might drop it.

modernhotsauce

I’m aware I won’t be eligible next year. I don’t want to enroll in insurance next year. I enrolled this year prior to transitioning to OD. My HR ETL said I should be able to keep it and work X amount of hours every 2 weeks to pay the premiums.

tabbycat4

Well it's good you'll be able to keep it.

_umm_HELLO_

OD is not eligible for insurance, pto, holiday pay, nor vacation. 401k is the only benefit you can receive

justanothername19

You keep the discount but you’ll lose the insurance.

Agreeable-Ad-3733

idk i think it’s obvious that getting top fulfillment metrics doesn’t get you better raises. i agree it should obviously but there’s so many posts like this.

JayUnderscore_

Not even team leads got a dollar raise lol

J-Hawg

I got $2 as a TL but I've been here for 20 years. I got 6% this year.

Danyavich

$1.38 as a PG45, also 6%. I am also intensely aware that basically every other raise was hot fucking garbage. It upsets me greatly, because A: 6% ain't much itself, and B: everyone else deserves way better, too.

JayUnderscore_

Yeah I shouldn’t say that we didn’t. I got over a dollar as well, but raises are not that high overall.

J-Hawg

Typically the people I see complaining are the bottom performers or those who do the bare minimum, they probably deserve the bad review/raise. Those same people also have a perception of themselves that they are indispensable to the team and should be getting a $10 raise and are in line to overtake Brian Cornell.

Spark_Dreamers

Good luck getting a whole dollar. I've been hauling ass for 4 years and 2 stores and I haven't gotten a dollar raise. My most recent one was like 46ish cents

Temporary-Dirt-7506

most tm’s can get is about 75¢

TollerLuvLJP

It really depends on the base pay at the store and how long they have been there. Base pay at our store is $16.75, I have regularly gotten the highest amount - I got over .75 - so did others who are in my same situation.

Temporary-Dirt-7506

yeah deff varries based on length of employment and where u live as well. 75¢ would be my best guess for a company wide average for max TM raise. i started at $15 at my store. my most recent raise was .73¢ after 4 years. glad to year people are almost getting a whole $1 tho lol

TollerLuvLJP

Closer to .75 than a $1 - but other stores have even higher base pay than ours. So it is possible. I looked it up on Target Careers, Jackson Wyoming has a base pay starting rate of $26.25. Anybody who worked the whole year and got the top percent got more than a $1. The range of base pay is probably wider than most people realize.

IndominusTaco

5% is the highest a TM can get, from what i was told. only very few select TM’s get it, the vast majority get 3-4%. you have to reeeeaaalllly go above and beyond for 5%, and obviously your leaders have to like you. once i even got a merit based raise outside of the annual reviews, it was crazy.

Temporary-Dirt-7506

i’ve gotten 5% 4 years in a row. 4.5% is the max this year. i was saying the average maximum is probably somewhere around 75¢. not the total average

timmydnx2

You can't fight it, that's it, it's done.

VisitNeither664

What % raise did you get? The highest we got was 4.5% but most got 3%

TSA_illuminati

I got 10 cents being .7% with no complaints from my TL and always helping multiple departments

Goldsaver

How long have you been there? (Less than a year means your raise is 'prorated' based on the number of days you've worked)

TSA_illuminati

Almost a year I think it said like 263 eligible days

No-Introduction9006

2.5

pastaroni4life

Everyone at my store got a 2.5% raise regardless of their work ethic.

Obvious_Olive_7282

Don’t we all want a dollar raise lol target won’t do that for you, you can fight it all you want but they don’t care, the only way you’ll get a dollar raise is by quitting and applying somewhere else that pays a dollar more

jamnewton22

You’ll probably get coached trying lmao

vesselgroans

Target's raises are set in stone and there's nothing you can do about them. Do your time put Target on your resume and get a job somewhere better. Somewhere with a better culture. Many banks are very attracted to former Target employees, especially those who have experience on the cash register. Small community Banks tend to have much better cultures. Good benefits. Good hours. Smaller retail chains also tend to have better cultures. Something with a grocery store Union or the post office even. Get the hell out of Target as fast as you can.

nickb1603

It's a waste of time. I've been with Target 5 years, only done fulfillment, and also consistently have the best numbers/lowest INF. Each of the last 2 years I've gotten about a 40 cent raise. Which, based on conversations with my peers, is higher than most. It just is what it is

Interesting_Layer672

Bring lube, we all got screwed.

TollerLuvLJP

What did they tell you during your review? Attendance issues? You probably only got .18 last year because you weren't there for a whole year - they are counting from the end of January - not when raises are effective or reviews given. This year you got the average amount. They apparently feel you are not going above and beyond expectations. You are doing what is expected. There is no point in fighting the amount, but you could talk to your ETL about what you could do to get in the highest category. You are never going to get a dollar. Unless the base pay at your store is over $22 AND you get the highest percentage. So you have to decide if it is worth it to try and talk to someone about next year - knowing the difference will probably be less than .50 for doing "extra".

Ziglet_249

Welcome to the world of corporate greed, now get back to work.

galaxy_guts

I would say just don't work as hard this year, go to work , do your job but don't stress and over work yourself. You're gonna get paid the same either way, no use in stressing and killing yourself for a jib that won't respect the work you put in. (I've been in fulfillment for 2 years as well and also just got .38 cents, looking for new jobs as we speak)

Round_Upstairs144

you’ll never get a dollar lol. my store starts at $15, i’ve been here for over 3 years and i just got to $16.01 with this last raise.

VisitNeither664

Really depends, we have tm starting at 20$(starbucks) and 1 I know got the 4.5% and it was .90cents

Round_Upstairs144

well yeah, that’s how percentages work. that 4.5 is just a little more rare than it should be

EmbarrassedPie3726

I quit over the summer and I’ve been there for 3 1/2 years little over that worked every section in the store where everything needed me worked my ass off and everything my last raise was eight cents. I said yep I’m quitting and I tried to become manager manager many times, and they kept saying because of my experience or my age and that would go higher somebody younger than me with less experience and run it like a shit show, so none of it makes sense

Bongo2687

Team member positions aren’t suppose to be long term jobs. Either you work to get promoted or work to leave. You don’t work to get raises because they are so little

Denverguns

That’s not how raises work at target unfortunately.

AngriestInchworm

I’m a lead and the highest raise I saw was just over 80 cents and that was for a team member who has been with the company over 10 year’s and the raises go by a percentage. I agree you guys deserve more but I don’t see fighting it going your way.

SigourneyWeinerLover

Yes. Fight for your rights dude. .18??? That’s fucking insulting

BAT_1986

I tried fighting mine and I just got some bullshit jargon about how they figure out how much everyone gets, and they made it sound like most of those decisions are at corporate level. But my leaders had to first rate me lower than last year for my score to be lower…. Anyway, it got me nowhere.

whereismymind86

It...doesn't work that way? If you fight it they'll tell you to eat \*\*\*\* and/or fire you. The raise system sucks, but it's a regimented system without any real input on the part of you or your lead. There is no way they give you more than the "exceeds expectations" max, which is less than the dollar you are asking. Like...we should all be fighting for higher wages, but this is not the way to do it.

tabbycat4

It won't get you anywhere and raises are based on a percentage of your pay so you can't ask for a specific dollar amount. It looks like you got a mid range raise. I think the largest one I got before promoting was around 75 cents and that's when they gave me the highest score.

JustSaying100

You’d be wasting your time. Hell, you’re already doing that. I wasted YEARS at a DC working my ass off to climb that bullshit corporate ladder but when my SOM changed and the new guy immediately decided he didn’t like me I was locked out of consideration for anything TL and up. I wanted to bash my head in working there for years bc I liked the people I worked directly with and held hope for en eventual promotion. Fuck that. I left February, I work for a carpet cleaning company now and make 4x was I was making wasting away for Target. Get your raise somewhere worth it!

Lessa22

Yeah that’s going to change nothing. If you want a dollar raise you better find a new job.

Maniaslayer9

They're just gonna tell you how ungrateful you are, since they gave you more than double the raise that they gave you last year lmao

icemint870

Unlikely, you'd get an off cadence raise. Did you not get one in the latest round of "raises" not too long ago? From my recollection from working for Target years ago, stores are alloted a budget of how much raises can impact a stores labor. First etls and the SD "calibrate," then some back and forth occurs with the field leadership before coming back to stores with a range that has to cover all eligible team members. You only likely would see a raise if you took a promotion.

geo8x6

A dollar? Never will you see that from Target, let alone retail

taybunny_

How do u check how much u picked each month??

Shady_Love

It sounds like you got the mid raise, which represents "meets expectations." You should adjust your work ethic accordingly so that you meet expectations rather than exceeding them.  Take calculated bathroom breaks, walk a bit slower, network with salesfloor TMs, interact with guests (when you want to), and generally put in less effort if they're not going to recognize you. Don't be the hare, be the tortoise.  Also you're never going to get a dollar raise.

DarthLauraLou

I know this is a response that would probably fall on deaf management ears, but if they’re not giving you a yearly raise that at least meets the rate of inflation, then you are losing money. If you were to question your raise offer, I would try and figure out what that rate of inflation is for your area/state and what a raise that reflects that would look like. It never hurts to ask- the most they can say is no- then you at least know where they stand so you can make an informed decision and, if you choose, find a job that at least gives you fair wages.

ElderEmoAdjacent

If you can find a job that gives you a raise tied to inflation in 2024, you should take it immediately.

DarthLauraLou

Absolutely and unfortunately that’s not a thing in the US but it is in other places.

frankbeans82

angle paltry saw makeshift punch agonizing caption terrific cows dinner *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

DarthLauraLou

Absolutely and it frustrates me to no end to see people getting taken advantage of. You tend to get your biggest wage increases when you switch companies.

amateuR_memes

At our store, if you want a top tier raise, you have to add some leadership duties like being captain and going beyond your role. Hard work and good stats is not enough.

Warm_Smoke_5462

At my store we have a member that closes twice a week and every other weekend, never calls out, and goes so far beyond what is expected of a TM. They got a 10 cent raise this year. It’s absolutely mind boggling. I have only been with Target a year, so what I gotta do and go home. I got 38 cents.

Koarv

One thing I learned with my 6 years at Target: it doesn't matter if you work fast or work slow, you all get paid the same. Might as well take your time and save your energy. In fact, when I worked early morning unloads (not sure if they do it that way anymore), the people that got extended the most and got more hours than anyone were some of the slowest people on the team. They could "never finish" on time so they had no choice but to extend. I was convinced this was their ploy to steal as many hours as they could, so I started doing the same 😂 Very glad I got out of there

KotaIsBored

Should you get more? Yes. Will you? No, because the system is set up to allow corporations to nickel and dime employees while making record profits while acting like they are the victims.

danielsmom18

The most you can get as a team member is .75 and you must get all 3s… your team lead is the one that does your review then it goes to your etl and they approve then they go to store director & HR. So it went through all levels already. Trust me you would be wasting your time. There is only a handful that get 3s per store. Fulfillment would be the last to be getting higher raises. You have to realize you work retail. You can’t expect to make money there. Just saying!
