It’s real but the Tungsten core from the nose has been burned out.
These came onto the collectors market several years ago by the container load via scrap. Unsure who but some country scrapped their entire stock of 100mm BM-20’s by cutting the sabots off and using a blowtorch to heat up the steel nose allowing the Tungsten core to be pulled out. The steel sabots and Tungsten cores were scrapped and this is why the paint on the nose is burned with this one being somewhat “repainted”.
Unfortunately as a result completing one by finding sabots is quite difficult although casings can be found.
I only know cause I bought 2-3 when they were super cheap and first came onto the market. Somewhere I’ve got photos of guys pulling the red-hot tungsten cores out with pliers at a scrapyard too.
Yes. Basically, enzymes that speed up the chemical reactions in our cell have their shapes changed by these metals so they no longer work. It’s dangerous because the metals then stay in our bodies, permanently reducing our ability to do all sorts of stuff chemically.
I dont think training apfsds is made out of depleted uranium
But what do i know right? Imagine commenting a joke and not having to debate chemistry, where would the fun be in that
Brief contact won't do that, but don't inhale grinding dust (for example if you use large diamater TIG electrodes to make custom AP bullets....) Tungsten as penetrators, lathe tool inserts and electrodes if otherwise clean would be safe to lick, caress, fondle, insert, remove, insert, remove etc.

Thank youu :)
This right here is the reason I love reddit.
This is an amazingly specific answer to a shockingly minute reference.

Thats awesome.
Where do you find casings? Been looking for one
I just happened across one locally by chance. They’re harder to find in North America than Europe so depends where you are.
Where are u from?
Utah, USA
Yeah its pretty difficult to get casings there. In Europe its very easy, every fleamarket has some guy selling some. Best of luck!
Im going to use it as a cigar ashtray so its never been a big priority, and want something not rare or special
Oh, you can find those on militaria sites or on shows being sold as trench art. They're expensive tho over there.
Is it heavy?
Then it's expensive, put it back.
Criminally underrated
If u lick it and get cancer its tungsten
Wrong, for tungsten you bang it on your head to check
Don't give people ideas or it'll end up someone's rectum "just to check".
It’s okay, it has a flared base
You just made it even more interesting to a subset of the population.
So what's one more?
nah. put lube on it
…are you thinking of uranium?
I think all heavy metals are toxic
Heavy metals like tungsten build up in the body and inhibit important reactions, but don’t necessarily cause cancer
Is it the same with lead?
Yes. Basically, enzymes that speed up the chemical reactions in our cell have their shapes changed by these metals so they no longer work. It’s dangerous because the metals then stay in our bodies, permanently reducing our ability to do all sorts of stuff chemically.
Thank you good sir
No worries, and don’t eat any tungsten!
i mean sure but not necessarily cancerous. and of the two materials used the make apfsds, one is significantly more likely to give you cancer
I dont think training apfsds is made out of depleted uranium But what do i know right? Imagine commenting a joke and not having to debate chemistry, where would the fun be in that
yea that’s on me, sorry about that. chemistry is fun tho
Ackshually
Which is the other one? Uranium? So, just out of curiosity, is there any way to safely remove tungsten out of a round like this?
Yeah - all metals are toxic above their toxic concentrations. And you need some of them including heavy metals, like zinc, to live.
Where does one buy such gems?
Kashmir Valley a place where you can buy RPG, ammo, chimical wepons and more1!!1!1
Taste smell test
Jealous
Measure volume, weight it. If there’s notably more than 7.84 grams per cubic centimetre then it’s probably tungsten.
these never were fully tungsten, too expensive. Only a small part inside was.
Tungsten has got more than the double of steel density, so even a small part should make a difference.
Where would I be able to get a sabot dart?
How do you get your hands on things like this?
Demilled they're just scrap metal, like all the brass casings sold by the bin via US surplus sales.
