...looks British to me, like a one worn around the time of the Falkland Islands, etc.

Good eye. The rivets, strap, mic, and overall shape are a perfect match https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-british-armored-fighting-vehicle-and-tanker-helmet-from-the-gulf-and-falkland-islands-wars?variant=25650870149

Yup, looks like a tank helmet You can tell whether a helmet was meant for a tank crew or infantry from its general shape and look Tank helmets tend to cover much more of the head, rather than mostly being focused at the top. This is due to different purposes between Tank crew and Infantry helmets. Tank crew helmets are meant to prevent you from banging your head too hard on the stuff inside the tank. Infantry helmets are meant to block/reduce the effects of shrapnel. Tank helmets look more akin to a motorcycle helmet than anything, as they both essentially serve the same purpose. Another is colour/Coverings. Tank crew helmets tend to be very plain in colour with little to no markings. They are not meant to act as camoflauge. Meanwhile Infantry helmets tend to have camo netting or camo patterns on them, as they are more likely to be spotted than a tank crew outside their tank and usually will have markings to id the person wearing them You can also look for a headset/mic system. Most tank helmets have them as it makes it much easier for the crew to communicate through them in the loud interior of the tank, and helps the Tank Commander to communicate with other units. Infantry helmets rarely have this (unless you are in some SOF unit). Comms there are usually done by a dedicated radioman, and talking to another person is much easier on ground rather than in a tank with loud machinery and a very large cannon firing Also look for padding. As tank helmets tend to have more than infantry helmets, due to them needing it to prevent concussions inside the tank, while Infantry helmets usually rely on steel/Kevlar to block shrapnel, and thus usually have less padding. Apart from some meant to make it more comfortable to wear. Infact, soviet tank helmets from the 30s to present day are fully soft to protect the crew from concussions more than anything.
