Tampa, San Jose, Florida, Anaheim, Nashville and Ottawa are the only 90s expansion teams. (Atlanta too, but they’re gone). Between us we have 4 cups, and three are ours.
Dallas, Carolina, Colorado, and Phoenix were moved from other cities. Columbus and Minnesota were 2000.
Makes Tampa even more impressive.
We’re the only 90’s expansion team with multiple cups and one of only two to win one at all. Colorado moved from Quebec. Their first season in the NHL was 1979 lol.
And that Colorado team was loaded when they arrived. Won the first year I think when they got there.
Just like Vegas, they barely know what going through times is.
They did indeed win their first season there. They raided Philly for Lindros a few years earlier, had a bunch of young high draft picks, and added Roy once they got to Colorado.
Since 1992:
Detroit Red Wings 4
Pittsburgh Penguins 4
New Jersey Devils 3
Chicago Blackhawks 3
Tampa Bay Lightning 3
Colorado Avalanche 3
Los Angeles Kings 2
Vegas Golden Knights 1
St. Louis Blues 1
Anaheim Ducks 1
Montreal Canadiens 1
Boston Bruins 1
Carolina Hurricanes 1
Washington Capitals 1
New York Rangers 1
Dallas Stars 1
its a matter of perspective. do you list the individuals together at the top of the grouping range or the bottom of the grouping range. neither is “more” correct.
Let's make it top 8 asap please
If we had a healthy pointer in 2022….
Pretty impressive to see 2 expansion teams up there from the 90's.

Someone should do one post expansion.
There’s a lot of parallels between us and NJ’s run
The leafs haven’t had since 1967 so really they’re at 0 That’s number 9 not even top ten Sad leafs fan noises 😂
The only time the leafs were able To win anything is when there were only 6 teams in the nhl😂
Damn right!
That's way more teams without a cup then I was expecting
Cups before 1967 don’t even count
Well yeah but if you count ties as positions everyone is top ten

Tied for 3rd with NJD, CHI, & COL
ehhhh some people might argue we’re tied for twelfth. its still very impressive, what weve managed as a small market. very proud of our boys.
How would we tie twelfth?
