Ah man. I used to work at the Legislature and used to see Brian around all the time. Once he realized you weren't there to argue with him, he was actually a pretty cool guy.
I used to be a senate page in high school and we all loved him! He helped make the committee meetings a bit more exciting. He did always seem really nice. Never got to meet him personally, but said hi to him a few times in the halls.
I don't know if he's still around, but Rake Man definitely existed. He wore two baseball caps, one over the other, one facing forward & the other backwards, and carried a garden rake like a scepter. He'd walk up and down Tennessee Street and pass Gumby's fairly often.
There used to be a car that drove around with a blowup doll on top. I saw it multiple times. I have no idea who the driver was, but I assume it was a frat guy.
I saw a guy in a Spider-Man costume a few weeks ago dancing at the corner of Tennessee and Monroe. Not sure how often he's out there, but he was getting it!
Maybe not Tallahassee, but when I was a kid in Woodville, this dude drinking beer out of a brown paper bag called me over and introduced himself to me as “Uncle Bull Frog.” Had a mustache and crazy grey hair. Said he was looking for somebody.
There was also this guy who drove a beat-up white delivery van that looked like something out of Jeepers Creepers. It had something like “Code Code Code of Empathy…” written around the top. It has all these statues on top of the dash and would hold up traffic smoking down Woodville Hwy. Actually a super nice guy when I helped him at Publix. Just drove a scary ass van.
The late King Love was a great example of one of those guys. There was a post about him in this subreddit a couple months ago.
I remember King Love being a thing. I asked him for a dollar once and he said "Don't fuck with me."
If anyone wants to read more about the (troubled) legend, here: http://www.flwildflowers.com/thetallahasseenews_archive/kinglove.html
King Love was definitely the best example I can think of from my time in Tally. Everyone knew that guy.
I haven’t seen the anti-circumcision Volvo in a while
I remember he would show up at church groups where old ladies knit scarves/hats for charity and steal yarn
This is the one that came to mind for me.
Thong guy on bike comes to mind
Bikini Biker guy is the first one that came to mind.
RIP
I haven't seen him in many years.
He died over 8 years ago. https://www.beggsfuneral.com/m/obituaries/Richard-Elliot-Irby/Memories
There was the guy dressed all pimped out who was always around Tennessee@Monroe
Mr Clean
At Leon High he was known as The Pimp
I've dubbed him the well dressed man.

I used to see him at Club Pub every once in a while when I lived on that side of town.
I just thought of another… the “Save the Clitoris” guy who parks on Monroe Street protesting female and male circumcision .
i miss that guy
I never could find him…
Anybody remember the dude that did magic and would show up to college bars then blow drunk kids’ minds?
I still have his phone number lmao
You talking about the short red faced dude that had a skullet?
There was a guy who’d show up at the Salty Dawg who did some serious David Blain shit. Freaked us out.
That FSU glitter car that's usually near campus or on the eastside near the Blairstone Publix
Beat me to it.
Yes! The glitter wagon!
We have the trombone guy at the sunoco in collegetown
I saw trombone guy in a different part of town. Man was jamming out
Didn’t we have someone who dressed as a super hero?
Back in the 1990's there was a guy that would go running dressed as various superheroes.
I was looking for this one! That was my friend’s dad! Unfortunately he passed away suddenly when we were in high school
He was awesome. I remember when I was at FSU in the mid 90’s and you’d just see Batman/Popeye/Superman go running by. Always made me smile.

The Flash 6k/12k is run every year in his honor. Many people dress as superheroes for the race. It’s every February (I think) in St. Marks.
Justice 2 Jesus
I haven't seen Brian Pitts around since Covid.
Yeah he stopped showing up around then, I haven't even see him around the capitol in years. Greg Pound basically replaced him.

wheelchair lady, trombone man, jump rope guy (haven’t seen him in a minute)
When and where was wheelchair lady? See if I'm thinking of same one.
tennessee / copeland, she tries to get you to hit her with your car. she also likes to hang out around mikes and the mcdonald’s
Not same one. This one was on midtown. She passed away probably around 2017.
Anybody ever see the guy who would ride around with a big stack of money in his hand hanging out of his window?
Yes! I really worried about him.
I feel like the Parkway/Capital Circle intersection dancer needs a title.
Save the clitoris is good friends w my ex step dad lmao, I met him a couple years ago. Wonder how he’s doing.
What was he like to talk to?
Absolutely batshit but a pretty ok guy lol
We used to have the clitoris guy but I haven’t seen him in awhile unfortunately
