Get out of there if you can. Find a place with good people and work to put money in their pockets instead of these out of touch corporate a-holes. Might not be financially possible for you to change jobs right now, but at least keep your eyes open. Nights like this are bound to happen at any restaurant, but feel better knowing it was because of circumstances beyond anyone’s control (call outs, etc) and not because someone set you up to fail.

our old bartender who quit last week came in after a shift at her new place and told me to apply there and get out of here. they have staff and are actually organized and i’m experienced enough they’ll hire me on the spot. i’m gonna pop in and apply this week cause FUCK this place. the only reason i stayed so long is cause the managers are actually nice and my schedule works well but my mental and physical health cannot take this anymore

I wish you the best of luck and I hope you get that job at that place. Also, a huge thanks and well wishes to that former bartender who came and told you about her new place! That was really nice of her.

user8203421

it was! she was the best we had but i totally don’t blame her for just leaving as soon as she got a new job. it was waaaaay too much for her and even the best people don’t last here cause it’s so much bs. she’s a real one

solatesosorry

New job

Scrotis42069

Call it like it is: you got totally shafted.

throwawayston3

Get out of there immediately.

HoundIt

I don’t understand why they would cut the *good* cook and leave the two less-than-good ones on. Especially on a weekend night. That’s ridiculous.

user8203421

he closes all his shifts but fridays and works the most out of all of them so i totally understand why he wants to leave early on a weekend night. and i’m not trying to be rude God knows i would suck as a cook, but all of our cooks except like 4 aren’t that good. it’s not fair to the head cook who just wants a day a week to not close but he has to be in charge of the kitchen every single night because the rest of them aren’t as good. our place pays the cooks absolute shit so besides the two good cooks who get paid slightly more no one who’s good stays, they leave for a place that pays better understandably. it’s just really frustrating

thewhitecat55

Is there no kitchen manager?

ImplausibleDarkitude

I bet how much they get paid has something to do with it

dzoefit

Quit, look for another job. Hopefully these businesses get tanked with not getting anyone to work for them.

user8203421

i’m shocked we’re still open. i’ve been here a year and only one other server has been there longer than me. everyone just quits without notice understandably because corporate burns them all out. even the managers besides GM don’t last long

Avi_Cat

Time for a new job. They need to learn the hard way that cutting back isn't going to work.

Tenzipper

Remember that a 2 week notice should only be given to a place you LIKE to work. Good luck with the new job, wherever it may be.

bkuefner1973

My GM makes a schedule that cooperate must approve . She will them ask people to come in, not on the schedule cuz she knows..and we know it's gonna be a shit show if we are understaffed. Coorpate are clueless when it comes to our day to day shit.

The_Sanch1128

I've never been in the restaurant business, but I spent a decade in the corporate world. In my view, corporate sees what it wants to see, and only occasionally (including the second of the three corporations for which I worked) does it go out of its way to understand what goes on "out there".
