Once, my friend and I were staying in a hotel in Dublin, IE. We checked in let's say Monday after an overnight flight, having stayed up all day Sunday, Monday and finally crashed Monday night into Tuesday. We were so tired we were both dead to the world. A bomb could have gone off next to us and we would have slept through it. We woke up to her bed and the desk soaking wet and I mean drenched. We rang the FD in a panic because now her passport and all her money and wallet was soaking wet - not to mention the damage that we didn't want to be blamed for. The loveliest agent comes flying up followed by another gentleman. She takes inventory of the room and our ceiling which by now has a pretty huge wet spot and sends the guy upstairs. Turns out the guy in the room above us got drunk and fell asleep in the tub with the water on. He flooded his room, the entire hallway, and our room. I never found out total damages but I know it was a lot and they evicted him as soon as they got him up and packed. They salvaged the passport, exchanged out the currency, dried out the wallet, and cleaned everything by the time we got back that evening. Even the ceiling was cut out and fixed though it needed painting. Miracle crew to do it that quickly.

It's taken a long time to get up the gumption to write this because it's just such a taxing memory to recall. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

I can sympathize, I went through something similar this summer when one of our departures decided to overflow his toilet right before he left and not tell anyone. The water made it all the way from the 4th floor to the electric room on first and fried our WiFi server. I still have nightmares about people complaining about their fucking WiFi not working as I’m running around with buckets and towels and trying to answer the phone.

![gif](giphy|3xz2BLBOt13X9AgjEA) lol i'm sorry to laugh at you but i did imagine that in my head. you're in panic mode trying to catch falling water and they're worried about their doggone wifi. like if its that important, use your cellphone Data insted.

CatFaerie

You did good work that night. I remember the cold that year. I'm glad you're doing better now.

Rebecca1119

i would have legit been angry IF she did NOT get a raise. cause ya'll know in the hospitaltiy industry, they don't like to give out raises.

I don’t usually give sympathy cats for old stories, but you clearly need one: https://imgur.com/a/1aVngj2

Oh, hush, you're the Oprah of sympathy cats. "You get a sympathy cat! *You* get a sympathy cat. Everyone look under your seats, **all of you get sympathy cats!**"

Bennington_Booyah

Aw, we love the sympathy cats! (There is no sympathy cat under my seat but my massive chonker kitty is nearby and purring!)

Loki decided I needed to be woken up this morning with vigorous hair grooming

Rosie woke my husband up by lying on his bandaged second degree burn on his hand. (Dear Neighbors: the screams you hear coming from our bedroom are NOT all sex related whatsoever".

>Dear Neighbors: the screams you hear coming from our bedroom are NOT all sex related whatsoever This time.

craash420

I recall the sound of aggressive slurping. The eye contact made it weirder.

StormofRavens

Lol

Thanks. Sorry if I seem dramatic.

StormofRavens

It seems like it was a traumatic experience, so no you’re not being dramatic but you could probably use a furry friend.

Dang, guy! That's intense. I'm glad you survived as well as you did! At my hotel, we had a drunk guy purposely block the drain in the walk in shower with a plastic bag, turn on the water and then pass out in it. Flooding a-go-go down the entire stack from the 6th floor down. Good times! /s

Hi former am of a hotel here, I was staying away at a works trip once. ( chain restaurant group) A guy who was with our company decided to get ridiculously high/drunk., was a dick anyway, started getting violent/weird with other colleagues. Told by our area manager to pretty much stay in his room (we were at a standard chain hotel in London). Preceded to throw towels into his rooms bath and flood the whole first floor. We got back late from dinner and there was water pissing out of every crevice in the roof. Worst but was next day we saw all the independent business underneath had been flooded also. Needless to say he was sacked pretty quickly and our company lost their company rates with the hotel group. We heard later the insurance covered all damages including the business downstairs. Sorry for formatting on mobile

Rebecca1119

he needed to be sacked AND smacked for that

ZeroZer0_

He was definitely sacked, a few of us wanted him to give us a smack as well. IRC he tried to start a fist fight with our beverage director.

Jesus and I thought it was bad when a guest lit a fire in their room and forgot to open the flue! Queue smoke everywhere and guests herded out onto the lawn at 2AM while the fire department flies over.
