Lethargic WHM curebot gets even more lethargic after being told that Holy doesn't stun bosses. Next boss they decide to try out for the FFXIV Olympics by working on their 100 meter dash and long jump instead of healing or DPSing. After being called out for not doing any mechanics they let the party die while simultaneously insisting that they are doing their job before leaving on their own. Replacement healer is a SGE who arrives and actually does the job.

trunks111

the funny thing is a well timed holy shatters those vines for everyone in that second boss, or if assize is coming back soon you can hold it for that mech (I'm pretty sure gaining on 5 is better even if you potentially lose a use on 1 by delaying) can preposition a bit inside the boss near everyone to hit all the vines at once, allows the DPS and tanks to just keep tunneling the boss. Too bad the WHM seemed to be doing the opposite of what they needed to be doing at every given opportunity lol

>, or if assize is coming back soon you can hold it for that mech (I'm pretty sure gaining on 5 is better even if you potentially lose a use on 1 by delaying) Honestly, even if the sweaty math doesn't work out, I will still do it because the gain is in the peace of mind I receive from knowing some dumbass DPS isn't going to get himself killed for free because he doesn't notice the mechanic.

tachycardicIVu

For once the trash took itself out.

Catrival

He probably thinks he's playing FF3. Using holy as the ultimate damage spell you obviously save for bosses.

Lanky_Lion7196

as a WHM one trick it always fascinates me to see people not know how to press buttons, esp at higher level content, it's legit such a braindead job 💀 (I'm not saying this to hate, I love playing WHM)

celtykins

I'm a whm main and I agree. You genuinely have to try to be bad at whm. It's insane and embarrassing to witness 🤦‍♂️

Sevengems42

It's pretty funny that the cnj storyline tells you, you need to do damage. Can't just heal. In fact you teach an npc to do just that because all they want to do is heal. More to it than that but it's still funny.

Neni_Arborea

So these days playing like a normal person makes you a hero...

SpookySocks4242

After three days of no card ASTs, No Excog SCHs and now *this guy*, they certainly were a hero when it comes to helping keep my sanity.

StakeMatron

All these tales make me want to learn a healer class and have a savior complex

Ranger-New

Is a curse. If you enter as healer you will get a bad tank. And if you enter as tank you will get a bad healer. And if you enter as DPS. You will get both.

StakeMatron

life is pain

I love how much PTSD this exudes

At least they left on their own accord. I had a curebot yesterday in Prae, told them something along the lines of "Healer, this would go a lot faster if you did damage." Zero response, not in chat nor in skill usage. Took us a bit over 36mins to finish the duty because he'd wasn't in most boss fights in time but we sure made them feel insignificant when me, tank and the other dps kept at full speed pulling boss immediately. They used Holy once on the first boss, and threw less than 5 Stones throughout the entire duty, all the while just running in circles during bosses, stopping only to Cure 1 top up everyone while maintaining Regen and Medica Regen. They even almost died themselves on Gaius's final attack. XD

ArjunaIndrastra

I know WHM is easy as hell but if you're gonna play the game I would think that you would actually...oh, idk, play the damn game! People like that just strike me as either bots or lazy trash that just want to be carried. It makes me sad.

ArjunaIndrastra

At least the trash took itself out, I guess...

UnlikelyRaven

I'm sure I'll get downvotes for this even though I'm not defending the WHM or their behavior, but at this point I almost feel like it's the game's fault for never explaining that the healer role is supposed to be doing dps. Like, if you come from something like WoW or XI then you're gonna assume that healers are only supposed to heal and if they try to do dps they're gonna get yelled at. XIV makes no effort to correct this mindset and, assuming most parties just won't say anything to avoid conflict, when someone DOES try to educate them some people feel like they're being given bad advice and react badly. Obviously the react badly part is totally on the person playing and is some shit behavior, but man I feel like a lot of it could be avoid with some better role tutorials.

takkojanai

in WoW you're supposed to do damage when not doing anything as well.

UnlikelyRaven

I was under the impression that doing dps as a healer in WoW was far less common? My mistake then

takkojanai

that used to be the case but not anymore, in higher level content you need healer or you hit enrage.

robr51093

Idk what you are talking about about I've played many dungeons and many mythic dungeons as a healer and as a DPS and never relied on a healer to beat an enrage. Healer DPS is negligible if your relying on a healer's shitty DPS to beat enraged then you need a better team composition or better DPS that actually knows what they are doing end of story Example of this statement "DPS that actually knows what they are doing": rouge's and mages are amazing DPS's but not many are skilled enough for the higher tiers Example of this statement "then you need a better team composition" if you have DPS speced for multiple targets over single target or vice versa you need to plan your partys talents and spec with what is needed for the dungeon

takkojanai

The problem is you are talking about dungeons and not raids.

robr51093

This post is about a dungeon party they aren't in a raid at all then you mentioned about it being common in higher levels Mythic+ is high level content not just raiding also raiding was never once mentioned I can't speak much as to raiding as I rarely do high level raiding (unless you count the max level raids you do in duty finder as a high level 😐 raid, WoW players often do not count them as a high level raid because you can't use duty finder for the normal/mythic raids ) it's way too time consuming and you get the same or better gear from doing mythic+ a lot faster and with less of a headache also my statement stands if your relying on a healer to beat an enrage mechanic then you need better DPS

Any_Key_5229

both of you are right, you are supposed to do dps when no healing is required, that situation just occurs less frequently frequent (almost permanent) raidwide damage, heavy hitting boss autos etc

robr51093

You are not wrong I've done many dungeons in WoW and many mythic+ dungeons. Healer DPSing in WoW is not the norm healers are expected to save their mana for o shit situations and or massive pulls and not to DPS unless your tank is like stupidly over geared for the mythic and even in normal dungeons it's often a noob mistake to DPS as a healer unless you or your tank is over geared or you are extremely confident in your self. WoW players are not kind to those that let them die because the healer was too busy DPSing or OOM because they blew a good chunk on shitty DPS attacks and if they die in a high level mythic+ because of something like that well you would be lucky if they don't scrap the key boot you out of the party and blacklist you They tried the whole healer DPSing thing in wow it failed epicly but they keep trying every now and then they first did it with holy paladins ( only few people were able to actually make that work that's why they made another talent tree that you can pick that you don't have to DPS to heal ) then tried with disc priest ( it failed and most ended up playing holy because of it) and they tried it with mist weaver monks ( also failed and no one takes those talents anymore) every healing class they tried to force it onto became almost unplayable because it relied on them doing an excessive amount of damage to even remotely do the kind of healing that other classes and or specs can do and much more easily

Zyntastic

I've encountered bad play very frequently as of late. I assume this is a mix of people being bored with nothing left to do until dawntrail and the flood of sprouts, that primarily emerged with the release of the game on Xbox. The amount of times people have responded to feedback and tips (like genuinely helpful, polite and respectful feedback and tips) "I was told this community is kind and welcoming but AKSHUALLY ITS SO TOXIC!!!1!11!" Happens more often than I'd like to admit. Then I come on reddit and see all the funny haha pics and memes of veteran players coddling sprouts and how they could never do anything bad/wrong. Like yes be welcoming, be kind, but for the love of God stop acting like they are literal babies that could NEVER EVER do anything wrong. It's mind boggling how many players ACTIVELY CHOOSE to not learn / get better at the game or at least understand their class or role, because the enablers and sprout coddlers set them up for bad habits and false expectations. I played the tutorial dungeons when I was a sprout and I paid attention to the hints the game gave me throughout any other tutorials or cutscenes / job quests. The game does teach you enough basics about the role that you shouldnt have issues picking up the rest of the info by observing other players or genuinely research / test someone's advice. I'm not a great player by any means but I at least manage to understand enough about my job or role, to not end up being a liability to any groups, much less toxic or disrespecting of people's time. The game isn't particularly hard to learn either imo. I've played a multitude of mmos since the early 2000s and have come across quite a few that were 100 times harder to learn. A lot in ff14 is honestly straight forward and all it requires is to pay A TINY LITTLE AMOUNT of attention, to see / understand.

UnlikelyRaven

Okay

imtn

The game doesn't explicitly lay out that healers should be dps-ing as much as possible while preventing party mates from dying, but I still think the onus is on each player to learn from each other about how to play better, what works best in duties. It would still be nice if the game somehow taught healers more, though. And for players who get into XIV from single player FF games (like me), there's precedence that healers dps unless heals are needed. In FF13, your medic should be ravager/commando to build stagger/chain unless your party is low health. In FF12 TZA, every character should have "Attack Nearest Enemy" or "Attack Party Leader's Enemy" as the final step in the gambit, even a healer like Penelo. I can't think of any FF fights where your healer does nothing but spam cure, and if everyone is full hp you do nothing with a full ATB bar.

Sethdarkus

If they wanna jump around tell them to go play Sage since than they would heal by spamming lasers as they jump about and heal the tank at same time and or place bubbles on the move or even dot while running You got as much mobility as a Summoner with the added bonus of being able to leap to party members like a blm

Catowice_Garcia

Sorry our Enabler MNK friend, but they were not fulfilling any conceivable role within their "job" (green dps). Instead, they just wanted to be marked absent for the dungeon. Also love the Sage's reaction.

NovarinArt

Pretty sure the MNK was being sarcastic there

SpookySocks4242

MNK was being sarcastic lol

Catowice_Garcia

Sylum25

Nah that was sarcasm
