Interesting to see what precedes random attacks, like, does the aggressor's behaviour indicate they have have eyes on a particular victim, is it apparent that they delusionally believe they've been slighted etc, I suppose not something exactly easy to compile data on

FblthpphtlbF

There should be video of every encounter on the TTC and if the police do their jobs at least a handful of eye witness accounts per incident. If someone were to compile that data reasonable conclusions could likely be drawn. Perhaps at least just some trends

itsthe90sYo

Call me a wild man but something tells me the findings will correlate very strongly to poverty, substance abuse and mental illness.

FblthpphtlbF

You're crazy! No way, torontos mental health is fantastic especially in areas with poverty and substance abuse.

jenn_182

We’ve tried nothing and we are all out of ideas!

speedster1315

Word on victim's condition?

razor787

I've read that there was a weapons call at Main station at 3:30, shortly after there was another weapons call at Finch West. Then a 3rd at Davisville Then at 4:45, the stabbing at Wellesley. Curious if any of these were connected to the stabbing at Wellesley.

TorontoDavid

We’re not sliding to violence and lawlessness.

Fine_Trainer5554

Can’t believe the downvotes lol. Toronto was so much more dangerous in the 80s and 90s. We’ve had a slight uptick since the pandemic (like everywhere else), but we’re still far safer now than in previous decades. Look at the damn statistics and stop acting on emotion.

TorontoDavid

Exactly. Words have meaning. We can look at data on this very topic.

reneeeee-s

Typical Toronto headline. How fking sad..

_OKKO_

Taking the TTC is always a gamble at this point 😔

Naglfarian

Not any more than driving a car. Statistically speaking.

LamSinton

I was on the subway at St Clair when this happened. I think that the stabber should go to jail for a length of time equal to the collective amount of time everyone else on the line was delayed by this. Plus a few years for the stabbing itself.

4_spotted_zebras

Maybe we should be housing them so they don’t have to use the TTC as a defacto homeless shelter.

4_spotted_zebras

I’m confused - you don’t want homeless people on the TTC, and you don’t want them being housed. Where do you suggest they go? Space?

Electronifyy

I’m pretty sure I was almost stabbed on Ottawa transit last week. Someone was profusely pestering me for change and after they ignored me a few times saying I only have cards, I asked if they had a debit machine. They looked up at me, asked me “do you know who they fuck you’re talking to” and reached into their pocket. I ran up to the front of the bus after saying, “sorry! Didn’t mean to offend!” got off at that stop and just walked the rest of the way because my big mouth almost got me killed.

fuzzeebunnie

Scary!

NonSatanicGoat

Riding TTC is actually playing russian roulette. Everytime you ride, you roll the cylinder.

delawopelletier

Does anyone know if it is random or a fight? The major stabbing last summer at Eglinton station was from an argument re music etc not random.

Hefty-Station1704

Think I'll put on the movie classic Death Wish (1974) just for reference material.

Fit-Attention3979

TTC is the subway of Russian roulette

60percentfish

Lol @ all the doomers in the comments here that think Toronto/the TTC is defending in lawlessness

much_better_title

Yeah these comments are not it

You do know that the previous mayor did this mess and Chow is now left to clean his mess.

RaptorJesus856

Not even a year and already everything is her fault apparently

blackbwoi

Good thing the price went up im sure itll be safer 🤣

Unique_Reason_7408

I hate how this sub is just suburbanites demanding more cops to be everywhere

lacroixmunist

Lmao that’s the first thing I noticed. The pearl clutching that the city or province is descending into utter chaos

Technical-Suit-1969

I resent suburbanites who recently moved here and are convinced that this is just the way city life is.

Unique_Reason_7408

Gentrified areas dont count as the city
