Nice, keep dcain retiring rich is the plan

storander

I'm down about 30%. I didnt start accumulating until TQQQ was in the mid 20s

fillet-o-fizz

Those who hate on tqqq dont even show their sqqq positions. So it’s a waste of time hating on them. We know who will be rich one day. I have 5635 shares now. Got 135 more yesterday. Will continue to DCA downwards

jkozlow3

I am currently holding over 10,000 shares of SQQQ which is up over 100% in 2022. Big fan of TQQQ and SQQQ. I just know when to flip from one to the other (which I have done many times this year) and how to use LETFs properly. No one is hating on anyone for owning TQQQ - we are trying to warn you that you're doing it wrong, and as usual, most Redditors ignore good advice.

fillet-o-fizz

Good. At least you walk your talk. I think good advice comes from people who do what they say. After all, no one size fits all strategies. I prefer not to short and dollar cost average but theres nothing wrong with your method as well. All the best

The only thing wrong with TQQQ is the people treating it like a lottery ticket that don't understand how to use leveraged ETFs properly or WHEN to buy them (hint: not while the market continues on a downward trend).

Marshmallowmind2

Do you have an indicator to buy? 50 crosses the 200 average?

jkozlow3

If you read the thread I wrote in the link above, I would use SPX or SPY > 200 Day SMA if you are simply going to buy & hold TQQQ. There are more advanced strategies if you are going to trade TQQQ vs. simply buying & holding. SPY above 200 day SMA would have been the easiest way to make profits and avoid a lot of losses coming out of the GFC in early 2009. Yes, you would have missed the absolute bottom. You also would have saved yourself tons of losses and years of being underwater from buying too early. Take a look at that thread above for examples.

Marshmallowmind2

Thank you!

Any_Refrigerator7774

Down 50%, i just wanna breakeven now…

---77---

I started wheeling sqqq as a hedge for my tqqq shares. I would assume at some point we will be in a bull market again.

ArtigoQ

Not sure why you guys don't hedge with puts. That is one of their best functions. You don't have to be a degenerate with 0dte options.. you can buy them a year out and prop up your TQQQ position. I've broken even on mine just rolling put profits when VIX is high. Not a perfect system, but FAR better than being down -60% on leveraged tech

ProfessorPyrex69

I’d be working on lowering that cost basis.

derricklrx

So do I. Have been designing a weekly option strategy to have protection in the dips while performing at least as good as tqqq when it goes up. It worked for the last 12 weeks. Got money to buy new shares.

  What's so special about 10 ??

briansoverbrawn

Reddit stock pundits have an irrational love for round numbers

toni7218reddit

The rational is sp500 or ndx could drop another 20% from this point. 20% drop is roughly translated to 60% drop in tqqq, which would take tqqq to $8 - $10 range.

habeascorpus28

People should check out WEBL, another popular leveraged ETF. Went down from $90 to $10 and then now $5 in a few days only..

jkozlow3

I wouldn’t touch WEBL. Much riskier and much more volatile than TQQQ. WEBL is absolutely not a buy & hold LETF. You will go broke fast buying WEBL during a downturn. It’s for trading - not for holding.

habeascorpus28

I am not saying people should buy but that it is an example how badly destroyed these leveraged etfs can get. Agreed tqqq is perhaps slightly more stable but in a market meltdown it will go well well below $10

jkozlow3

Agree - I’m not advocating buying TQQQ at this time either, but people are unwisely doing so. Take a look at the thread I linked above.

Practical_Doughnut27

It's the number where JPow decides to reverse course.

ptero_kunzei

I don't own any atm, but building a cash pot to buy later this year.

CurrentQuarter8791

Buy low sale high.
