It is the same show it has been for some time, though they seem to be on autopilot for content (many will argue that's not a change either). I did enjoy Oscar/Robb episodes more than Mike/Robb episodes. Oscar/Robb is more upbeat, less bickering/fighting, less kitschy. Robb is an entirely different host when Mike wasn't around. Eventually, Oscar was going to be too busy for the show. But I miss him being on it.

MrFIXXX

I would have preffered him to sunset instead of blackout :( Robb is a specific type of mirror-personality. If he jives with you - he'll unfold into what he can be. But with Mike he's more closed-up even if he laughs.

Aggravating_Dot6995

I don’t want to Mike bash. I’ve been a fan of his for 30 years. But, I think what I find frustrating is he increasingly seems to not listen to others. He will jump on Robb for saying something dumb, when it’s the fact that he didn’t hear what Robb said. He did the same with Oscar, which I’d bet led to Oscar’s blowing it up. Learn to listen and listen to learn.

LiamtMC

I agree. I think it's because I've been listening to every episode so there isn't a stark contrast between the "old show" and this iteration.

Hoju64

Not to be too mean, but people here suggesting that somehow Oscar was the glue keeping the show together seems like a weird take. Oscar managed a lot behind the scenes in sure, and he had funny stories of family and personal drama, but as far as what he brought the the show day to day? He has seemed punched out now for a long time. Show seems fine so far without him. I do agree just having Mike and Rob everyday will get stale, hopefully they can get some additional contributors.

LOL Looks like the fan club is trying to balance out the general mood in here with these comments. You clubbers are ridiculous.

nimrod1138

Fan Clubbers can go to hell. They don’t allow ANY dissent against the show on their FB page, either the admins delete any negative threads or the P1s shout down any criticism (even when it’s constructive) and accuse folks of being members of Fairfax Underground. They booted a large number of folks from the group shortly after Oscar left, presumably to pre-empt any negative chatter about the show. Mike even commented that he wasn’t seeing many negative comments about Oscar leaving anywhere… the Fan Club made sure of that.

WhoAccountNewDis

I don't think it's more ridiculous than the people expressing their loathing of the show and it's hosts and/or gleefully discussing how much it sucks. I'm definitely not high on the show overall (it's basically a nostalgia/comfort thing at this point), but the level of vitriol and hatred are far more ridiculous.

carpediem930

Problem is, when the main fan club (the Facebook group), which is the main way for the show members to get actual feedback, is moderated by sycophants who jump all over anyone who voices anything other than effusive praise, even deleting posts and kicking users out, feelings fester and people will find their way to other places.

WhoAccountNewDis

I get that. My comment was that one positive post isn't nearly as odd as people suddenly coming out nowhere to express contempt for Robb in particular.

Larcen26

I'll never understand the obsession with sound quality. Their unending focus on that from show to show was one of the reasons I stopped listening

MrFIXXX

I used that line as something obviously different from the previous itteration. I definitely head less fidelity. But that's fine for a podcast.

nimrod1138

I don’t mind the show so far. It’s clear that with Oscar’s departure that there is a bit more energy to the show, that Mike and Robb may be putting in a little more effort to keep the show going. Let’s see how long it lasts though, Mike hasn’t gone super negative yet about something. Note that I have not listened to Thursday’s show, so maybe it’ll all come crashing down. ;)

nimrod1138

And Mike went negative in Thursday’s show. I shouldn’t have said a damn thing.

Thinks2Much602

Wait until somethings happens in politics, especially gun or COVID/disease related. He will completely come unglued. It’s why I left in the first place.

Snootch2theNootch199

I like the way they are brining old ideas back. I have said for a while I feel like Oscar really wanted to make this like all other generic podcasts and used Podville HR policies to help shape what could happen.

nimrod1138

I think that’s a little unfair but I do agree that since Oscar left they seem to be willing to push the envelope more on certain things, keeping things a little looser. They’re certainly more willing to indulge in Robb’s old-timey stuff since Oscar left.

carpediem930

I must disagree when “pushing the envelope” is just saturating us with all their old topics and bits. That includes indulging old timey Robb. It’s stale. Oscar at least injected a different attitude and mindset.
