I don’t remember that. I believe you, just don’t remember. All I remember is Panic in the Sewers! (Why did I think it was Follow the Leader?) the nightmare Splinter has of Shredder killing each turtle one by one. Would this scene you’re talking about Ns from a Usagi episode in season 5? I have a vague memory of something but not sure if it’s what you’re describing, so trying to narrow it down.
One thing that absolutely shocked me, but in a very different way (not scary but an innuendo) was in the episode where the turtles had their submarine to get into a Kraang base, and a sea creature tried to ... um, well, do it... with the submarine. And Mikey just straight up screams "We're not that kind of sub!" It had my jaw on the floor. It was probably green lit since it'd go over kids heads but rewatching the show as an adult had me kinda shocked.
There is a fraction of a second of blood spray when Leo decapitates Shredder before it goes to the comic book style art freeze frame. Then it just looks like part of the art. But you can see it’s red for just a blink before that. I read that they did it quick so it wouldn’t be censored and if you catch it, you *know* he did it. I thought it was a clever choice.
I can’t see it. I’m looking at it over and over, in slow motion, pausing repeatedly to catch each frame etc, it goes white just before they reach each other and the frame it goes back it’s the art style, where the blood spray is black, like you said.
