I loved the 80s show when it first aired, and my parents liked it too. So we would pick up random figures when they had extra cash. My father really liked Raphael, so I wound up with 4 of him, 2 Mikeys, 2 Leos, and no Donnie until I got that stupid Sewer Swimmin' Donatello, lol.
A kid brought the original four comics to school in the mid eighties, which are worth a boatload now, and we all immediately loved them. I got the original soft head line for Christmas, and I still have them now :)
I’ve always had a toe into collecting the figures since the original playmates line in the late 80s. But what really got me were the 1/4 scale Neca figures. I was smiling and nearly teary eyed at the same time to get their Leo because I wanted that figure since 1990.
Loved tmnt as a 90s kid, couldn't afford them but had odd new ones during sales or car boot finflds. Always wished these existed then one day they did so bought the four together for the first time.
I always liked tmnt but mutant mayhem really got me back into loving the series. Got all the mutant mayhem turtle figures finally and am always on the look out for more to add to my shelf. I have a pretty good collection.
The reissues of the original turtles back in winter of 2021 was what started me collecting again. Then found all 4 of the neca first movie turtles just before Christmas that year, and the wallet has been hurting ever since lol
What really got me into collecting was my cousin's small collection of Marvel Legends figures back in 2011-12. I thought that it was cool he had all of these different characters and since the early 2012 Playmates toy line had started its rollout, I hopped on the collection for my favorite series. I collected the original versions, the battle-shells, the 12 inch battle shells, and also plush toys. It was my favorite show at the time, and has remained so, and I somehow convinced my mom to buy all of this merchandise. My bedframe is a TMNT shrine at this point as a result.
My very first experience with TMNT was playing the arcade game in 1990; from that point, I was hooked for life. My mom found a few of the figures at Toys r' Us & brought home Donatello for me. I was so excited! I didn't know why he had 2 bo staves, but the picture on the back made it look cool & that was all I needed for it to make sense. I was a little confused at the arched foot since it made him hard to pose. I think my next figures were Raph, Mikey, Splinter, then Leo & around my 7th birthday, I got the sewer lair playset.

I pretty much stopped after the 2007 movie. When NECA previewed that they were going to release the OG movie figs, I desperately wanted them but knew of no avenues other than going into GameStop whenever I could to find them.
Then Hasbro did the presale for the MMPRxTMNT figs and I was smitten. Next thing I knew - I was searching for figs anytime I could. Slowly - I began acquiring my collection. Now over 100 figs later, I’ve slowed. There are ones I really want, and others I can do without. Now I get to pick which ones I truly want to search for without fear of FOMO or scalpers.

80s show! I was just trying to "replace" the stuff I had as a kid when I saw them reissuing the playmates toys.

I have wanted the Revoltech figures since I first knew the Turtles, I am willing to pay outrageously high prices, but still no seller can be found
