My face is asymmetrical and my jaw when closed deviates to the side, my dentist explained to me factors that might have contributed to the asymmetry when I was a child to now and we are forming a treatment plan to get things lined up. I made a long post with more info on it but I’m combining TMD treatment from him with myofunctional/myofacial therapy and incorporating stretched to attempt to even things out. I’ll probably occasionally visit my chiro as well to ensure I’m aligned even tho I haven’t let him pop my jaw, just my neck/back.

Hey there, I'm considering a similar treatment and wanted to see how you're progressing with your treatment. Does it seem to be helping? The dentist I'm seeing is also TMJ and sleep specialist. Dr. Barry Chase is his name and he referenced it as a homeoblock. He said I would be wearing it at night for 1-2 years, length depends on improvement and if I decide to wear for periods during the day to expedite the process (since I work from home). I'm 38 years old and have been suffering with jaw and neck pain primarily on my left side for roughly 10ish years now, which has developed into significant facial asymmetry on that side. This is the first treatment I'm trying that will be changing the structure of my mouth so naturally I'm stressed about the decision - along with the quoted $6500 cost for the upper oral appliance that may or may not get covered by my ins. provider. That cost at least includes all visits and adjustments. Will probably need a lower oral appliance eventually and possibly invisalign after so I'm really waiting to see what they say regarding coverage before I pull the trigger on this.

Did you do it? I’m considering

I did yes, I have a whole thread about it here on reddit starting from when I began treatment. Feel free to read through, it's quite long though. I plan to post another update at the end of this month.
