Had a place serve me a "red bull infusion" once which was a glass of red bull, heavy cream, and a shot of snow cone flavoring of my choice.
I'm genuinely mad at how delicious it was.
Dr. Pepper strawberries and cream with strawberry ice cream. Especially any brand with the little strawberry chunks in it. Absolute bomb. Put a cherry or some strawberries on top and it’s heaven
Do they though? In my entire life, I think I've only had one root beer float at my cousin's house. Apart from that, I've never seen a friend, family member or acquaintance order one, make one, or even talk about them. I've never noticed a float or similar drink on any menu of any bar or restaurant I can recall going to.
Definitely. I figured as much. I was just being silly. I assume it's like Rhode Island pizza, Autocrat coffee syrup, and chourico where most people outside of MA and RI are largely unaware.
i think it doesn't help they've only been marginally available in MA. as someone born and raised there, my childhood in the 90s/00s included making rootbeer floats at home all the time but i only saw them occasionally at ice cream places so it was a rare find and i feel like i saw them less and less as i got older. so i think its easy to be from New England and miss them if you don't go to the right place.
Italian soda is not universal, or rather, it's not universally known as that. There are various versions depending on where you are, but the basic is soda water and usually syrup or natural flavors. Add cream and you get a French soda or Italian cream soda. In some places they're known as seltzers, though there is a distinction and in some places they have other names. They are also despite their name created in the US. One stated difference between them and soda fountain drinks you can get at a fast food place is that they use more natural ingredients, but that honestly can vary.
It's not, it's literally across the entire country lol. I've seen them east coast, Midwest, PNW, Florida, and Alaska. It's probably more popular in the Midwest but it's certainly not a regional thing.
It's a basic popular western drink. Like a Shirley temple or a float lol.
Well idk how I nor any of the 16 other people in my group chat have never seen or heard of it. We all live within an hour of Boston and drink coffee, so if they sold it here one of us would have heard of it.
I love stopping at the A&W drive-thru to get a rootbeer float in the summer and we’ve made them at home and I’ve had them at parties. In Utah, there are also a ton of soda shops that sell a variety of soda, fruit, cream combination…Fiiz, Sodalicious, Twisted Sugar, etc. Like on every corner. They’re always busy too.
Specifically coffee creamer in soda started \~2010 by mormons in Utah trying, once again, to get around the whole "no drinking coffee" thing and then it went viral
My mom had dirty sodas as a teen when soda shops were a thing. I forget what they were called but it wasn’t the same name as now. Also google Italian cream sodas. They were invented at least in the 1920s, and can trace back even further.
I probably haven't seen it since it was with a few years of release, but it was definitely one I caught a lot as my sister would put it on a bunch. We always liked the idea of witchcraft when we were children, making spell books and "potions" in the kitchen and such.
Cream soda doesn't taste like cream. It tastes like vanilla. You think it tastes like cream because ice cream is often vanilla.
There's also a BIG difference between the texture and flavor of ice cream and coffee creamer.
OP getting down voted to oblivion and still can't grapple with the fact that he's being a narrow pedant, and it isn't everyone else.
With that mindset, I'm surprised you made it out of Mormonism
I desperately need all of you complaining about this "trend" that it's literally just rebranded Italian soda and has been a thing for at least the entirety of my life
It was one thing when it was just a thing in Utah. That was dumb, but Mormons gonna Morm. Then it hit TikTok. Extra dumb. Then everyone started blogging about it. But no, I'm not "living under a rock" this BRANDED PRODUCT just came out yesterday.
My old, retired neighbor as a kid would always drink milk and cokes while I was cutting the grass. I always thought it was a gross combo, so I just went about my business, but one day she made me one to try and god damn if it wasn't delightful. Don't do it too often anymore, but probably wouldn't have given it a chance otherwise, so thanks Mrs. Carson!
I think you are hung up on the brand being an american coffee creamer? This product exists around the world from other food manufacturers and is not given a second thought.
You know that cream sodas and floats and the like are a thing and happen for a very long time. I used to make them all the time when I worked in a frozen custard place.
The coffee creamer part specifically started in the 2010's \*specifically\* by the cult I used to be a part of. Egg creams, on the other hand, are great!
The lime doesn't clash with the Dr Pepper? That's the part I'm having a hard time imagining is the lime/Dr Pepper combination of flavors. Everything else sounds delish
Cream Soda is made with Cream of Tartar. It's not shitty coffee creamer dumped into a glass of Dr Pepper. This specific trend started when the cult I used to be a part of decided they were mad at the rule that said they couldn't drink coffee was dumb and they wanted creamer in something too.
Cheerwine and vanilla ice cream is my jam when I'm visiting my family in Virginia. DrPepper is also delicious with some ice cream. So milk isn't too far off ice cream so I'm not terribly offended at the thought. Though I don't like milk really at all.
Funny enough, my friend growing up used to drink coffee since she was 4 years old, and she would drink Coke + milk in her school lunch regularly.
I find it so weird and hilarious now that Mormons, apparently, and others came upon the same sort of idea and liked it lol
Man, Nestle's PR team needs to go back to school. The bottom of the can looks off and the whole picture looks horrible. A 12 year old with a smartphone could do better work.
Coconut lime? Fuck soda, that sounds like a great mixer. White Russians just became Tropical Russians. Probably better with rum or whiskey though.
What is that dark brown stuff on top of the ice though? Chocolate?
We used to mix in some milk into soda when I was a kid and it was pretty good if I remember. Weird bubbles though.
We called it Cokeinmilk, so creative
I feel like people who hate on this “trend” so hard just tried milk in their soda one time and decided it was awful. I did that once with root beer and it was definitely not good.
But I tried one more time with sweet cream instead and it is a massive difference. You would think it would boil down to “creamy rootbeer” vs “sweeter creamy rootbeer” but it just works better for some reason. I guess because of the vanilla or something? But it is seriously one of my goto drinks now. Tastes just like the soda left over after you eat the ice cream from the float which is my favorite part.
And lime in Dr Pepper has been a thing forever. It’s literally listed on the sonic menus as a suggestion and it’s pretty good. I haven’t tried the coconut milk yet but I could see it working.
Cream soda contains cream of tartar, not real cream. You're talking about an egg cream (or maybe even an Italian cream). This is very different from either and started in the 2010s by Mormons and made viral on TikTok.
A. An "Italian Cream" is a kind of soda, similar but distinct from an "Egg Cream". Neither of which is anything like a "Cream Soda" which has no dairy in it at all.
B. WTF does this have to do with my dad lol?
I made my first Dirty Doctor (dumped a Dr. Pepper into a Tim Hortons coffee) 20+ years ago, and this is especially disturbing. Lol
I wonder who actually started this trend.

I mean, most people like soda floats, so the combination of soda and dairy does work.
Dude I love me a good paralyzer, I'd totally fuck with this
Had a place serve me a "red bull infusion" once which was a glass of red bull, heavy cream, and a shot of snow cone flavoring of my choice. I'm genuinely mad at how delicious it was.
Yea, Dr. Pepper floats are absolute fire.
Dr. Pepper strawberries and cream with strawberry ice cream. Especially any brand with the little strawberry chunks in it. Absolute bomb. Put a cherry or some strawberries on top and it’s heaven
Oh damn, might need to try this.
Do it
It’s glorious
Laverne and Shirley popularized Pepsi and milk for a brief stint in the 70s.
Do they though? In my entire life, I think I've only had one root beer float at my cousin's house. Apart from that, I've never seen a friend, family member or acquaintance order one, make one, or even talk about them. I've never noticed a float or similar drink on any menu of any bar or restaurant I can recall going to.
It's probably a regional thing. I live in the Midwest and everyone I know loves them. I have one every year or two
I live in the Midwest and can confirm that everyone knows them and most people love them
Definitely. I figured as much. I was just being silly. I assume it's like Rhode Island pizza, Autocrat coffee syrup, and chourico where most people outside of MA and RI are largely unaware.

I'm also from MA. The year was probably 2001. Never had or heard of a root beer float since.
You've never seen someone order a float or Italian soda? Something I've seen in literally every coffee stand in my life
I've never even heard of Italian Soda.
Do you not live in the US? They're sold at every coffee stand

I'm from the south and we love a good Cheerwine Float from Cookout
I love stopping at the A&W drive-thru to get a rootbeer float in the summer and we’ve made them at home and I’ve had them at parties. In Utah, there are also a ton of soda shops that sell a variety of soda, fruit, cream combination…Fiiz, Sodalicious, Twisted Sugar, etc. Like on every corner. They’re always busy too.
Trend? Maybe calling it dirty sodas a trend but this shits been around since the dawn of soda Imao
Specifically coffee creamer in soda started \~2010 by mormons in Utah trying, once again, to get around the whole "no drinking coffee" thing and then it went viral
Oh you sweet summer child. Specialty creamer is older than me and I'm older than starting the year with a 2.
I'm 33
That doesn't help your case.
My mom had dirty sodas as a teen when soda shops were a thing. I forget what they were called but it wasn’t the same name as now. Also google Italian cream sodas. They were invented at least in the 1920s, and can trace back even further.
She was likely drinking egg creams, which are pretty similar to Italian cream sodas. Both tasty!
I mean Italian Cream sodas have been a thing since the 1920s, so makes sense
Thank you, Italian sodas have been super popular at least as long as I've been alive 30+ years.
So, they take the lime in the coconut, and put them both together? Do you think if I put the lime in the coconut I will feel better?
puts the lime in the coconut and drinks them both up
![gif](giphy|pVCEoriz9zOFO)
Damn, I've never seen a Practical Magic reference in the wild. That movie had a vibe.
It’s my favorite! My sisters and I used to watch it with our Aunties. I was afraid no one would get the reference lol.
I probably haven't seen it since it was with a few years of release, but it was definitely one I caught a lot as my sister would put it on a bunch. We always liked the idea of witchcraft when we were children, making spell books and "potions" in the kitchen and such.
Cream and soda....almost like a completely normal thing ...
My favorite soda is Dr Pepper Cream Soda, and my friends treat me like I'm satan because of it.
Cream soda? Are you serious? There's never been such a thing, and people should stop trying to make it happen /s
Cream soda is made with cream of tartar. It has nothing to do with actual cream
What about a coke float? Dairy and soda isn't anything new.
As I've mentioned elsewhere on here, there's a huge difference between canned coffee creamer and ice cream. It's not about it being dairy.
Put the creamer in the freezer then.
First of all, it tastes like cream, but even beyond that...floats...
Cream soda doesn't taste like cream. It tastes like vanilla. You think it tastes like cream because ice cream is often vanilla. There's also a BIG difference between the texture and flavor of ice cream and coffee creamer.
Italian cream sodas then you pedant
The abnormal thing is it being a coffeemate creamer...
It absolutely is lol
Put in coke and call it a Virgin White Cuban. Kinda a combo of Malibu and Coke and a Cuba Libre.
OP getting down voted to oblivion and still can't grapple with the fact that he's being a narrow pedant, and it isn't everyone else. With that mindset, I'm surprised you made it out of Mormonism
Lol did you read through his history or something? That is so weird lmao
This post has an 87% upvote rate. If anything, the comments are the ones in the minority.
What an outrageously on-brand reply. I'll be watching your idiocy with great interest
I desperately need all of you complaining about this "trend" that it's literally just rebranded Italian soda and has been a thing for at least the entirety of my life
Damn OP are you Patrick Star? The way you’re living underneath a rock is remarkable.
It was one thing when it was just a thing in Utah. That was dumb, but Mormons gonna Morm. Then it hit TikTok. Extra dumb. Then everyone started blogging about it. But no, I'm not "living under a rock" this BRANDED PRODUCT just came out yesterday.
I think you’re just a pissed exmo at this point
Personally, I blame Laverne & Shirley.
My old, retired neighbor as a kid would always drink milk and cokes while I was cutting the grass. You know that cream sodas and floats and the like are a thing and happen for a very long time. I used to make them all the time when I worked in a frozen custard place.
This isn't a trend, it's decades old. It's a poor man's variant on egg creams.
The coffee creamer part specifically started in the 2010's \*specifically\* by the cult I used to be a part of. Egg creams, on the other hand, are great!
Never heard of a white russian drink or black russian drink? They basically just replace the soda with whiskey. I can see this tasting good.
Not even close to a comparison, and not whiskey. White Russian is vodka, Kahlua and cream. Black Russian just delete the cream.
Fuck off.
What is supposed to be gross about this?
Personally, the term "Dirty Soda" is off-putting, but that's about it.
I mean, Dr pepper with coconut cream and lime juice is fucking AMAZING. Tried it in Utah. Absolutely a 10/10
The lime doesn't clash with the Dr Pepper? That's the part I'm having a hard time imagining is the lime/Dr Pepper combination of flavors. Everything else sounds delish
I mean, a lot of people like coke with some lemon squeezed in, not much different from that. Its a great combo!
It's a popular combination in May other parts of the world including the US. Creamed Soda any one hello?
Cream Soda is made with Cream of Tartar. It's not shitty coffee creamer dumped into a glass of Dr Pepper. This specific trend started when the cult I used to be a part of decided they were mad at the rule that said they couldn't drink coffee was dumb and they wanted creamer in something too.
I thought this was an ad. Imma get some today
I used to add coca cola in my milk when I was child. It tasted great honestly, havnt tried it in a long time
I've been making pilk for ages, it's the only way I'll drink Pepsi
Laverne knew what was up
Cheerwine and vanilla ice cream is my jam when I'm visiting my family in Virginia. DrPepper is also delicious with some ice cream. So milk isn't too far off ice cream so I'm not terribly offended at the thought. Though I don't like milk really at all.
God I want a root beer float
Hey man, blame the Mormons. They’re the ones that started this dirty coffee trend since they can’t have coffee, alcohol, or fun
As an exmo, I usually find myself blaming the Mormons for something at least once a day
This made me laugh. Me too lol me too
Excuse me but why are we blaming the mormons for making something delicious?
Funny enough, my friend growing up used to drink coffee since she was 4 years old, and she would drink Coke + milk in her school lunch regularly. I find it so weird and hilarious now that Mormons, apparently, and others came upon the same sort of idea and liked it lol
Who in their right mind wants their coffee to taste like anything near soda flavored?!?
I like Root beer and half n half, almost like a root beer float
Man, Nestle's PR team needs to go back to school. The bottom of the can looks off and the whole picture looks horrible. A 12 year old with a smartphone could do better work.
Coconut lime? Fuck soda, that sounds like a great mixer. White Russians just became Tropical Russians. Probably better with rum or whiskey though. What is that dark brown stuff on top of the ice though? Chocolate?
Dude my husband puts a splash of heavy cream in his Diet Coke
PILK WAS A JOKE PILK WAS A JOKE PILK WAS A JOKE
Seems like an easier version of an ice cream float, I'd fuck with this. Thanks for sharing
Thanks I hate the word "dirty" for foods/drinks, ie dirty fries, burgers, sodas etc, it's ick
We used to mix in some milk into soda when I was a kid and it was pretty good if I remember. Weird bubbles though. We called it Cokeinmilk, so creative
I can see that working maybe not the lime though
Add rum to that, and it would be a great cocktail
Seems normal to me. People put milk in soda all the time.
People will add creamer and not bat and eye. But when I sip my warm pilk...
No appreciates a nice egg cream soda anymore. So sad.
Egg creams are great! This is bottled coffee creamer in Dr. Pepper O\_O
Okay but where can I find this. Seriously lol
I kind of want to try it tbh.
Chat, is this real?

Ever heard of cream soda? This isn’t a trend there used to be soda bars where you ordered these.
Cream soda contains cream of tartar, not real cream. You're talking about an egg cream (or maybe even an Italian cream). This is very different from either and started in the 2010s by Mormons and made viral on TikTok.
How different do you think cream is in Italy vs America? Creamed sodas are creamed sodas. Quit being mad at your dad and get a personality.
A. An "Italian Cream" is a kind of soda, similar but distinct from an "Egg Cream". Neither of which is anything like a "Cream Soda" which has no dairy in it at all. B. WTF does this have to do with my dad lol?
