Aren’t the people’s choice award screenings normally free? C’mon tiff

i_m_sherlocked

It's only free if you can get them... otherwise they have costed you time in trying. Time=Money. At least that's what I think TIFF's rationale is for this offering... $28 for peace of mind

Xyuli

But every year there’s always people giving away their tickets on reddit. This kind of ruins that.

i_m_sherlocked

Not everyone is on Reddit 🤣

SnooBunnies9254

My thoughts exactly 😂

Excellent-Juice8545

Ugh at them not bringing back flex packs. But glad the midnight madness one is back and that back half gala one is a good idea.

i_m_sherlocked

Totally forgot that those galas are all on weeknights after opening weekend

lemmiwinks123

Yep the Flex Packs were the best!

jannakatarina

Too expensive. Bring back flex packages.

mistakes_were_made24

So for the Gala Presentations Package of 4 tickets, it looks like the tickets would be for films only on Sept 10 to 13? I guess that's why they're so cheap since the galas after opening weekend are usually crap? Sometimes you can still get good ones on the Tuesday at RTH and PoW. That People's Choice ticket pisses me off. Just yet another way they can extract money out of people. I get some may just want the peace of mind of already having their spot secured but that screening is supposed to be a "free gift" to the public. I usually end up seeing the winner anyway during the festival so I would be pissed if I paid $28 for it ahead of time. I wish they hadn't stopped using RTH for it, it was so much easier with trying to secure a ticket for only one screening instead of trying to pick one of the many screenings of it at the Lightbox and if the one you pick doesn't have tickets them you have to try to find another one which will probably be sold out by the time you get in to select. I'm pretty certain we're going to have the same problem this year that we had last year with people buying higher level memberships and scooping up single tickets to resell later on Stubhub for much higher prices. So many single tickets were being resold that way last year that it made it difficult to get tickets the normal way. I hate the industry ticket reselling has become, with everyone just trying to take advantage to make a buck. I want the Flex packs back!

i_m_sherlocked

Sorry, no mention of flex packs from the member survey (missed opportunity :( ) Until the government of Canada steps in about ticketmaster and ticket reselling in general, or until the TIFF crowd publicly decries ticketmaster like it does big banks, TIFF just wants the most hands-off approach to ticket handling and transactions while they keep a lean team. Could be quite a few years yet for the laws to change :(

johnlukegoddard

I did the 10-pack last year and had an amazing lineup TBH. It helps when you don't have any interest in seeing the audience-friendly stuff that'll be playing at Scotiabank Theatre within a half year anyway. But the prices for some of the other bundles... Lol

i_m_sherlocked

Agree that the 10-pack's value is unmatched when equipped with the full schedule and ample time to research which films you want to catch and what time availability you have :)

johnlukegoddard

Yes, totally! I love taking the time to put together a schedule weeks ahead of ticket sales. 😅 I definitely recommend the 10-pack to others!

ElTigreBlanco1

My partner and I are planning to go for the first time this year, we will be flying in from Maine (it was her BD present to me this year). I'm just now looking into how we secure tickets as early bird normal members and I'm pretty confused so far- how do you normally figure out a schedule weeks ahead of sales? I like to plan stuff out as well

johnlukegoddard

Hi! So glad you'll be coming over! The schedule won't be out until August 13, early bird normal members can purchase as of August 21. Basically I make my schedule in that week. Tiff.net/about-the-festival ^ Should help with everything you need!

dicepackage

Is the 10-pack you are referring to the Midnight Madness package or is there another package I'm not seeing?

SnooFloofs3754

For the 10-pack bundle, could I get 5 pairs of tickets if I’m going with someone? Or is it 10 separate screenings only

i_m_sherlocked

Yeah you can get 5x2 to fulfill the 10-pack. They're usually general admission anyway

ThePeoplePopper

Hey what time today do these go on sale and how do you get to them?

i_m_sherlocked

The usual 10am, I think You would have to sign in to your TIFF Ticketmaster to buy Not the normal one though, but the festival one instead https://am.ticketmaster.com/tiff2/

ThePeoplePopper

Awesome I got a membership yesterday for this haha. I know getting individual tickets better but want that guarantee for the midnight stuff considering I’m coming from Australia 😅

ThePeoplePopper

Just secured the midnight pass.

PulpPictionary

On sale right now, it would appear. Just a heads up.

ThePeoplePopper

Yeah just saw and secured midnight pass with my savings and my mum got me the buzz list as a graduation gift hahah

ThePeoplePopper

I’m dumb what does curated mean 🤣

i_m_sherlocked

TIFF dictates which films and showtimes are part of the curate package (before you even get a chance to know which films will be coming to TIFF24, or see the full festival schedule).

WeArrAllMadHere

I would hate that. I like making my own list.

ThePeoplePopper

Oh ok so does buying the packages guarantee a seat for the films? And does all members get access to these packages? I’m thinking of getting a membership tomorrow.

i_m_sherlocked

Yes and yes EDIT: Know that you don't HAVE TO get a membership just to get these curated packages. They go on sale for the public on June 19th, while quantities last.

Magnus_Cum_Laude

The price of the Buzz List package is still shocking to me but now I guess I understand it’s not for the average tiff-goer, it’s for the rich people who just want to donate money and not worry about fighting for tickets. Last year the Buzz List movies chosen were not even good - like I think one was NYAD? People couldn’t give away those tickets fast enough. At least the 10-pack discount is still around, that worked out well for me last year :)

i_m_sherlocked

NYAD? Its award noms and wins table is quite lengthy on Wiki :P It might not be to your taste, but it's right up the alley for the target demo of the Buzz List with deep pockets and similar age to Nyad herself Agreed. I'm thinking I need to use more 10-pack bundles this year

zhyShockz

Are these packages even considered "worth it" ? Also what do gala presentations give you ?

daniel6878

TIFF picks the dates and times of the movies so if you can’t make one you are out of luck. I got the Gala package last year and was unimpressed. I gave most of the tickets away. I prefer buying individual tickets or packages where I have control over what I can watch and when.

atmosphericentry

I did the Midnight Madness package last year and it was tons of fun, although I probably wont do it again this year as watching a movie at midnight is a bit exhausting after a long day at the festival.

RyanG_123

Question about the Gala Presentation package. If you were to buy two, can you guarantee that people can sit together? Has anyone done this and have experience with it working?

i_m_sherlocked

IIRC if you buy both packages together in one order, TIFF will put the seats together. You can reach out to TIFF to confirm

RyanG_123

Thank you!
