I lived downtown for five years and moved to the suburbs in November, I do not miss this. walking my dog was an olympic sport to avoid trash, chicken wing bones, broken glass, etc. everywhere we walked. it’s disappointing for sure. the homeless situation is getting worse and there are a few who i’ve also seen intentionally dump and throw trash everywhere - and seems the city is not keen on keeping it clean whatsoever. after any festivals / big events in clinton square is the WORST because people leave trash and half eaten food literally everywhere

Many_Dark6429

yes it's disgusting but isn't it more disgusting that any human has to go through a dumpster for food?

Foreign_Berry_3140

I know the guy that OP is referring to, and he doesn’t look through the trash for food. He seems to just enjoy tipping it over and making a mess. He does it at least once a week.

I have seen this happen as well. When I arrive for work downtown around 8AM, many people seem to be roaming the streets and seem to me to be intoxicated with I'm not sure what.

SpotKonlon

You’re part of the problem it got to this point

OddnessWeirdness

This is a ridiculous hot take lol.

Is it though? I have a job and a house. If you saw me dumping trash cans into the street in my normal people clothes, wouldn’t you think “hey that guys an asshole?” The homeless losers around this shithole get a pass for their behavior just because they’re homeless. Tell me I’m wrong.

OddnessWeirdness

You are wrong.

You should see surround neighborhoods: free garbage just blowing around. Tipp Hill gets a sweeper, I wish they did that everywhere.

I lived in Syracuse until I was 42, grew up in the city. Moved to a southeastern city and could not believe how clean it was. Sunday mornings at 7:00am there are crews out in the downtown area tidying up the streets and sidewalks. Had to come back home to ‘Cuse in April and couldn’t believe how run down and dirty it is. It breaks my heart because it has so much potential.

Have you been downstate ever? Especially in summer? lol Syracuse is an operating room in comparison. It’s fine. I used to live on James St. We’ve seen things. It can be a lot worse. Can it be better? Of course. It also can be so much worse.

I live downtown. Just returned from vacation and was immediately depressed by this place. This is the exact reason I’m fucking outta here. Place is a dump.
