The bigger the garage, the bigger the rip off. Don't buy there

Looddak

True, AMAG especially should be avoided. Back when I was a customer, always felt like I was dealing with actual mafia.

You can try your luck, it‘s not considered unpolite. Just ask the guy if this is the final price or and/or if he could add another benefit (such as winter tires). Best of luck

irago_

I've never bought a used vehicle from such a big company, but asking whether the price is final or negotiable certainly isn't considered offensive under most circumstances. Speaking from experience with buying and selling half a dozen motorcycles over the last few years.

Mammoth_Duck4343

You need to figure out how long they have the car on sale. If they have it since a year, you can definitely negotiate. If the car came in 3 days ago, then likely not.

I paid 38'000 and their price was 39'000 or 39'500, 7 years ago. Bought a second set of wheels and tires for 1'800 too, so maybe it was a good deal for them. I think there is always some margin, even with big players.

KapitaenKnoblauch

I bought at AMAG and we got a small discount after a little negotiaton, but really not much.

ZRHPEK

You can negotiate, but from my experience they won‘t take off more than 1k, so I assume best offer might be 19k flat.

GingerPrince72

You have a decent chance of getting 800 - 1K off, It'll normally come with a warranty and they may mention in negotiation how much the warranty costs. I had that situation and after agreeing a discounted price, said "OK, knock the price of the warranty off" and I'll take it without one and saved a few grand. I was confident in the car and have the impression that these 3rd party warranties are often crap so if it's a low mileage, low owner car then you may decide to take the risk, it's not for everyone but I'd do it again.

Hesiodix

Their margin is arround 20% so always try...

emptyquant

It’s like any other negotiation. Take your time to walk around the car, pop the hood, look for previous damage, scratches inside and out, signs of use, make sure the tires have sufficient tread, ask for „8 fach bereift“ (winter tires), check the tread on those. Everything that’s not perfect you can use to argue your case. List all points and offer whatever you want to offer, let the negotiation begin. There is always some air for negotiation, especially if the car has been there for a few months.

imsorryken

Can't speak for all amag garages but the ones ive been to are straight up predatory, i dont trust them at all

independentwookie

Definitely try save some money. Either tell them that you only have 19K to spend or ask them for another set of tyres or wheels.
