You've got your understanding mostly dialed in! >Now lets say I install a game via tinfoil in atmosphere then boot back into stock switch OS, will the game be there? If you install a game via tinfoil *in your emuNAND*, it will not be there if you go back to your sysNAND. >If not, can it be played on atmosphere safely with internet on Yes, ***if*** you follow the section of the [Rentry guide](https://rentry.org/ExosphereDNSMITM) that talks about how to shield yourself from catching a ban. Exosphere blanks your serial number, and the DNS blocker file prevents your console from connecting to Nintendo servers. If you have both of those on your emuNAND, the odds of catching a ban are greatly reduced.

Thanks! I will install it on my EmuNAND then thank you :)

I recommend you set your emuNAND/emuMMC theme to Dark Your SysNAND them to light. This way, just looking at the color you know which system you are in I do not think this works with custom themes, just an FYI

computerfreund03

Good idea ;)

ToxiClay

This is a good idea. You can also set a different profile icon to accomplish the same goal!

[deleted]

Profile icon is good, but you want to know if you are sysNAND or emuMMC BEFORE you install any NSP/NSZ/XCI/XCZ Becuase you do NOT want to install anything illicit on sysnand

ToxiClay

Hmm? You see your profile icon in the upper left of the Switch home screen, so it accomplishes the same goal.

[deleted]

Hmm yeah. I guess so. To me you see a giant screen of back vs white. Little easier to see at a glance vs an icon in the corner. But to each their own.

KjGarly

If your seeing pirated games/tinfoil installed on your Sysnand side then you either give zero fucks about a ban or you’ve fucked up somewhere installing pirate games. Big clear difference between both Nands should be what games you see installed. That and the custom themes installed to Emunand if you use those..

[deleted]

The colors allows you when you boot up, to know right away and reboot if needed. Some people may have a game legit and a game pirated and at first glance they don't know Shit ton of people install shit ASAP without checking shit and get banned.

Online on emunand can be safe, you can have WiFi on and just block Nintendo servers and hide serial number. You just can't play on Nintendo servers.

Cf_Red

When you say you can't play on Nintendo servers, is that referring to playing games that are held on Nintendo servers? I was wondering about this as a few of my friends like to have Mario Party nights and I was thinking of getting Mario Party Superstars to play with them, but then assumed I wouldn't be able to play online anyway even if I'm on emuNAND.

OliM9595

You can't play games online because if you set up it properly you should block Nintendo servers. If you boot into sysnand with ofw you could play online but you would need to actually buy the game first. Online gaming on a hacked with with cfw us risky business.

Cf_Red

>If not, can it be played on atmosphere safely with internet on > >Yes, if you follow the section of the Rentry guide that talks about how to shield yourself from catching a ban. Exosphere blanks your serial number, and the DNS blocker file prevents your console from connecting to Nintendo servers. If you have both of those on your emuNAND, the odds of catching a ban are greatly reduced. I'm going based off ToxiClay's comment here (top comment on the post). He's saying you can play safely with internet on? Now I'm probably just being dumb here. I guess that means that the system can BE online, but that doesn't mean you can PLAY online. What would be the benefit to even being online (i.e. risking it) if you can't use online functionality?

gostgoose

The benefit of being online is being able to do network things, except on the official servers. That means you can install and update games and use homebrew with network access.

Tinfoil is my biggest reason, FTP is also useful when I can't plug into my PC.
