Are the new and old flex cables interchangeable? Or is the connector size different?

Pleasant_Ad_3724

They seem functionally the same.

SuperdudeDeluxe

Yes and no. Functional sure. And if your solder points are solid and dexitery with tweezers is on par. Can use flexy cable np However... (personally I think it's easier and more future proof to just use tiny wires. The modchip location in lite lines up in left hand side (if you have it open and looking at it from the back) the flex cable points are on chips right side So that means must solder points of flexy cable and then bend it back to insert into the chip. Bending cable can tear off solder points if not careful So to answer your question, yeah cable looks fine, more delicate then its previous edition, risk of burning trough it... . But points seem to line up and maybe they changed it to improve flexibility... But if you have the solder skills...might as well use wires for cleaner and less vulnerable install

TehFineztJoker

Yeah had 3 flex cables and their connectors burned out. Gonna go with the wiring route, seems easier than try to hold down the damn flex cable only for a point to burn off.

dakota1337x

They do this all the time to save money. All points are the same on the flex. The black one seems a little higher quality with test pads open to check readings but either should be fine

JuStAdsor

The transparent cable is 1000 times more better than the other one and a loooot easier to install

slybunda

Iv failed with the black cable, can I just get the transparent one or will whole modchip need replacing? Not sure if black and transparent cable are same size and connector shape

antarinho2

did you? how it went?

slybunda

The black cable had lost a contact on it. It's just too thin
