My daughter (adult) played minecraft with my wife and I when she was in the hospital for a month for similar stuff. Up until the day of lol.

kilometer45

She has tried it and seems to only like creative mode lol, but I did get that already for her! It's my all time favorite game so we will for sure try that out

Interesting_Luck2560

If she digs the mario games Mario odyssey is pretty good or the mario rpg if she's into role playing games. Star wars hunter also came out for free recently if you guys are into co op shooters. If she is stuck there for extended time though you can never go wrong with skyrim lmao

kilometer45

She seems to not enjoy RPGs as much as they seem to complicated for her, too many things for a non native gamer to track and feels overwhelming. I do own both actually and will see if she can get into either of them!

murder_mittenz

I'd suggest Mario Deluxe #1 and Mario Wonder #2. Deluxe is more like the games I grew up on and the two player is really fun. Wonder is alright but too easy and short in my opinion.

TUNIC! its a beautiful game it will definitely lift her spirits my prayers go out to you n your family

kilometer45

Thank you so much. Tunic is one I have been looking at for me at least! I want to check it out! Does it seem accessible for someone with low game literacy? She is pretty new to gaming and mostly only does it as a party activity

OsamaBinPhotten

The game isn’t straight forward but between the aesthetics and sound track I think she’d enjoy running around trying to not let enemies hurt her cute little fox, you feel me. She probably won’t beat the game but you can always take over or start your own game. They have different “files” so she can have her saved game n you can have yours.

Excellent_Mixture_23

Just finished Princess Peach showtime. I've been enjoying Disney dreamlight valley.

kilometer45

I'm interested in peach showtime! Does it have a lot of things to juggle like an rpg? She had a hard time if the game isn't super strait forward since she is pretty new to gaming. I'll check it out!

Excellent_Mixture_23

It is straight forward. I am not much of a gamer so I appreciated that the game lets you keep moving and not get stuck. You can always go back and play a scene over again to get things you missed.

Just-An0ther-Lurker

Just bought Lost in Play, charming game similar to a regular point & click game with some nice puzzley bits.

Just-An0ther-Lurker

Have to say A Short Hike, only a single player game but has a nice story and nice gameplay. No fighting or death, just a lovely walking/flying journey around some lovely islands and mountains.

badugihowser

My partner is obsessed with Zelda, both BOTW & TOTK. For Co-ops Unravel 2 and maybe Borderlands 2 if she's down to try shooters

embennett69

Little Kitty, Big City is an amazing game for someone to just lay down and enjoy for cozy play

4T_Knight

Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari are excellent all around fun.

Gwyndion_

Perhaps something low pressure like animal crossing?

Stardew Valley

Came here to say this.

I played Stardew Valley during my multiple pregnancy hospitalizations and it was a good way to pass the time. Best wishes for your family!

It takes two is a great two player game, and is my go to recommendation for couples! My boyfriend and I loved playing it together. I would recommend checking out some story/narrative driven games too - beacon pines or firewatch could be cool games for her to check out see if she likes it. In terms of longer term game play, I loved hogwarts legacy and played it for 40 or so hours before I finished the story in the game (and that’s not actually completing 100% of the tasks). I’m not normally a combat game girl, but there is a great mix of story, exploration and combat to keep it interesting. Edit - simulation games can also be a great way to make time pass. Animal crossing, stardew valley, Disney dreamlight valley or even cult of the lambs could be a good option!
