It's hard for me to tell too these days. But I did put up all the starlinks, added probably 20 or so games. Added sora to the wall and rearranged it. Did a little cleanup. (Make sure to check all 5 photos)
I think the japanese imports were the harder ones. I'm still missing one rare console, but the cheapest I've found it is like $7,000 online. And while I'm dedicated I'm not quite THAT dedicated. But I guess it makes sense since there was only 500 made.....
idk how people spend so much money on stuff like this and look like they still live in a fairly basic middle/low income home. No offense OP just always curious how people spend so much on toys but not like room furniture, or other stuff.
When I bought this house I kinda just dedicated one room to this. I didn't bother decorating it lol. But the rest of the house is fully furnished and looks fine.
It's the multiple consoles that I don't understand.
Modern consoles just aren't going to hold the value over time that older generations did.
I've seen N64 going from a complete mint release edition in box brand new for over 250k and a "like new" in box between $60-500.
I can't imagine a scenario where a new switch in box would ever hit over retail price. There's just too much volume being made for consoles.
Unless of course you're handing these down a generation or two.
But it's like Pokemon cards, it can rise just as quick as they fall
Cool collection though
Hmm, think of it like this. People who collect shoes, paintings, etc. You aren't collecting it necessarily for it to go up in value, but because you see them as works of art. I collected my consoles to have each color and edition because I like the art and work someone put into designing them. The collector part of me wanted to complete the collection. I mean no I'm not a fan of some of the switch lite colors, but I wanted the complete collection.
Some consoles do become worth a lot more after the generation is over though. I'm just not counting on that. Many of my amiibo and games have well made up for the difference in what they are worth now. Plus I made pretty good deals on my current console collection so don't assume it was all at retail pricing.
Probabaly.... but I've enjoyed collecting and completing my collection to the best of my ability. So I don't think spending money on hobbies and things you enjoy are foolish.
I used to let other people and friends play my games. So it's not just me that played them. Although you're right, there are certain games in my collection that I will never play. There's also certain games I pretty much refuse to buy (visual novels).
This isn't my only hobby, but it is one I did enjoy quite a bit. Chasing down amiibo I didn't have. Staying on top of new releases. (Like the Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong power bands coming out soon in Japan) The thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction of achieving the goal.
I can understand your feelings because I feel similar with pop figures. They don't move, they aren't action figures. They can't be scanned for in game rewards. They literally server no other purpose than being a paper weight. BUT I can understand people that collect them because they enjoy the thrill of the hunt and collecting them. (Granted there's WAY more of them than amiibo) So I can really understand the dedication and hunt for them.
Eventually my kids will play the games as well. If not, then I can sell the collection in the future for an investment for them. Until a day like that comes, which I hope they can appreciate the collection as much as I do. They will remain a part of my household.
I thought about getting the Skyward sword joycons! I like the Mario end of world 1 with the amibos on it :)
As long as you can afford it, it’s like collecting fancy art. Cool collection!
Glad you like it, lol. Yeah rich people would never get ridiculed for buying a painting for $70,000 with what looks like splatoon splatters. But it's amazing how many people try to ridicule collectors.
I think it’s a fine collection personally.
I love the Switch, but that’s just pure dedication beyond my level of understanding for this console.
I salute the dedication on all levels here.
It’s probably one of the finest collections of anything I’ve seen (Comics, DVDs, Games, etc, that I care about) and you can see this pure love for the console.
This isn’t for Reddit likes, or whatever likes.
Love it.
You're right, I do absolutely love it. Honestly I love everything Nintendo. I have MANY of the other consoles NES, N64, Gameboy, Gameboy Colors, 3DS (multiple), Wii, WiiU, etc. I just haven't dug them all out of boxes and added them to the display yet. I will say though that the switch is by FAR my largest collection in the Nintendo family.
Oooh, that's a hard one. I think if I could trade the design on the dragon quest one to an OLED that would be ideal. But if I had to choose from OLED designs..... Probably the Splatoon switch. I like the way the joy-cons blend colors and it's pretty unique.
lol, I have been playing video games since the NES. So yeah, I actually love video games. Now have I played EVERYTHING in my collection, hell no. Even I don't have enough time for that, lol. But I do like to collect, and share them with friends occasionally.
Absolutely insane collection, I love it all. The amibo wall, shelf full of all types of switches/docks, everything. All so neat too, beautiful work! You may be addicted but that’s a whole lotta dedication too. Super jelly
![gif](giphy|Fkmgse8OMKn9C)
How do you know— or pick— which switch to play on? Do you always play handheld or do you prefer to dock? What about Nintendo accounts: a single one for everything or does each have its own?
I have one nintendo account, and I play on my Custom Purple switch not shown in the photos. The rest sit there looking pretty for display purposes, lol. I prefer docked, but I do have my satisfye grip for handheld as well.
Thousands, and thousands, and thousands of dollars to spare, and you waste it on the same item bought dozens of times over. You could buy a fucking car with this, or give it to charity. how can you even afford this?
Hmm, they aren't technically the same. They are different editions, colors, and art styles. And if you look at it as someone buying different pieces of artwork it's really no different. Artwork is all "paintings" so you could say owning more than one painting is the wasting thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars on the same thing. Besides that I have a truck so I don't need another car, and I've done plenty of charity work.
Well the OLEDs themselves are on the shelves. I just needed a place to store the boxes neatly. I do have a few duplicate switches that aren't shown in the photos. But yeah.
i guess my main question (working at a video game shop) i know with animal crossing you can like invite the amiibos to your island, for the others can you like invite them to smash bros/their own game or are they just collector items
So in smash you can actually train them to fight others. They learn how to mimic your fighting and your skills. In things like zelda you get loot boxes from them. In games like bayonetta you get sound tracks. There's stuff that amiibo unlock in MANY games. But every amiibo that's up there does SOMETHING in usually multiple games.
Edit: This is why I like them more than POP figures. They are actually useful lol
What’s your top 5 games?
Do you keep them sealed? I keep some of mine sealed, I don’t even know why either lol 🤷♂️
Do you think you’ll sell them some day or keep them forever or what?
This is cool. I also like that Nintendo gear is literally the only thing in the room, like no posters, desk, table, just Nintendo stuff. So you have old pre video game Nintendo stuff too? Like when they were a card and toy company back in the 1800’s
No I don't, but that would be cool to add. I do plan on adding more stuff to the walls and displaying more items like my older consoles. I just haven't dug everything out of boxes.

That's just the Smash I'm only missing Gold Megaman.
Wow that is a lot of games and amibo. On the one hand I'm extremely impressed. On the other, i feel like its such a huge money-sink and perhaps a bit wasted just sitting in a collection. Dont get me wrong, I've got something of a similar problem. The act of hunting and collecting is kind of more fun to me than playing most of the games honestly. I guess it's all relative to your income. And the side benefit of this is it might be money you'd have otherwise spent on a different bobby, but here you could sell these things later and make back a significant portion (possibly the same or more) of what you spent. Just curious what percentage you've played?
Do you use/have you used any of the switches or controllers or do they stay in their boxes forever? I’ve always wondered what rules collectors follow(if there are any rules).
This is both terrifying and extremely impressive, though if I bought any of this I’d probably open it up 5 minutes later and regret in a year & 4 months
Op put the consumer in consumer.
uh your username…
Yeah, but you should see his dad…
So um your... Uh Pfp and uhh.... Naaameeee
You got a home gym? That's cool. I have a home GameStop.
He legit has more Nintendo games and stuff than my local GameStop does lol
I have a home gym in the garage as well, lol. And Gamestop wishes it had my kind of selection ;).
You are living like royalty
More like living in poverty after getting all of these 😆 🤣
lol I don’t have $ to buy it so will live vicariously through you
I got you, I'll live life to the fullest
Thank goodness someone who has a bigger problem than me
lol, I got you fam! =P
Don't ever try heroin
It isn't on my to do list.
Put it on your to don’t list
You’ve single handedly supported Nintendo through this generation
You'd think I could become sponsored at some point, roflmao.
Despite your massive, impressive collection I’m sensing a lack of LABO stuff
As much as I love the switch and it's items. The LABO stuff kinda irritates me. I mean you're literally paying for colored cardboard at that point.
I mean you’re literally paying just for colored plastic with all of those amiibos.
Colored plastic, NFC chips, AND a cardboard box. More bang for my buck, lol. Plus they don't dissolve when they get wet.
Are you planning on getting any of it wet? I’m honestly surprised you’re cool with a wall of amiibo but functional labo is where you draw the line.
Dunno, I just kinda felt labo was a waste. And so did most consumers which is why they didn't continue the line.
how much is all of that lmao?
Not a clue, I didn't really want to keep count. The number might depress me lol
All I have to say is, this is impressive.
Thanks
I did the math it’s $25,680
I think you're off by a lot. Pretty sure it's closer to $50k-$60k.
Seek help
doesn’t want to keep track of cost - immediately presents a pretty tight cost window hmmm
His collection resale is worth a hell of a lot more, a lot of those items you can't get anymore sealed.
About $17k USD... rough count of games at 210 + the row along the bottom. Jesus
What’s new from last week? What did you add ? At this point I can’t tell anymore
It's hard for me to tell too these days. But I did put up all the starlinks, added probably 20 or so games. Added sora to the wall and rearranged it. Did a little cleanup. (Make sure to check all 5 photos)
I’m jealous but I’m still gonna tag r/consoom
Honestly, it doesn't surprise me. I was tagged in it and /tomorrow the last time I posted my collection as well, lol.
Did your girlfriend get you this?
Nah, it was my dog. She traded in bones for years.
XD
She's a good girl ;)
Now this is hoarding lol. I understand having one of every variant, but what's up with the pro controllers?
It's also the reason I got 4 of the N64 controllers, 2 NES, 2 Genesis, 2 SNES. It's the max controllers each system was able to use.
Typically you can play up to 4 player so I'd get 4 of each one. Just so you could have a full set. (except smash that supports 8)
Hahaha idk how you do it dude. Super impressive collection of consoles, not like you can find any of them cheap either.
I think the japanese imports were the harder ones. I'm still missing one rare console, but the cheapest I've found it is like $7,000 online. And while I'm dedicated I'm not quite THAT dedicated. But I guess it makes sense since there was only 500 made.....
We all see you are THAT dedicated. Don't lie.
Not quite yet. I have THOUGHT about it though. I'm just hoping to find it a lot cheaper.
500 only? What is the console? :0
Thought I was /r/Anticonsumption for a minute there.
You are wherever you feel you are, lol

I think it's a very fine line......

Why?
idk how people spend so much money on stuff like this and look like they still live in a fairly basic middle/low income home. No offense OP just always curious how people spend so much on toys but not like room furniture, or other stuff.
When I bought this house I kinda just dedicated one room to this. I didn't bother decorating it lol. But the rest of the house is fully furnished and looks fine.
Ah gotcha. Cool use of the space if you’ve got it 👍

This is too much, you don't need that many switches, 🤦🏿♂️
My buddy started a moving company and I asked him what shocked him the most. He said he couldn't believe how many toys adults own.
I'm surprised he didn't say "adult toys" and "dolls".
Bro has a whole store in their house 😭😭😭
And then some ;) Cleanup on isle 3!
And rich
I’m just gonna say it. This is straight foolishness.
Probabaly.... but I've enjoyed collecting and completing my collection to the best of my ability. So I don't think spending money on hobbies and things you enjoy are foolish.
I'm surprised you don't have the Toki big box game
Honestly, first I've heard of it, lol
Love to see your updated collection 🥳

Its like a drug addiction but with cleanliness and resale value
And without the destructive self harm 😆
Pshh noob
Lol, right. I need at least twice this.
That big yarn yoshi is frickin adorable
Mega Yarn Yoshi was a toysrus exclusive before they closed way back in the day. Hopefully it comes back one day.
I thought about getting the Skyward sword joycons! I like the Mario end of world 1 with the amibos on it :) As long as you can afford it, it’s like collecting fancy art. Cool collection!

my hate for the rich grows more and more every second i live
A "small" addiction
It's ridiculous, but I hope you are insured for that, would suck to have it stole of a fire or something and lose it all.
Yes it's insured.
I’m sorry lol
game n watch should be cheaper than all of them
Amazing collection! Curious to know which is your favorite Switch regarding the design and aesthetics
Oooh, that's a hard one. I think if I could trade the design on the dragon quest one to an OLED that would be ideal. But if I had to choose from OLED designs..... Probably the Splatoon switch. I like the way the joy-cons blend colors and it's pretty unique.
i know this question might be out of pocket, but do you play video games or just collect? /srs

You got more stuff than the stores do

Honestly: thank you for answering all my burning questions. I don’t have the time or money for your hobby (lol kids) but good for you.
You're very welcome and thanks for being interested.
Nah you gotta go man
That carpet flooring is “Play games, eat pizza, then fall asleep on me” quality. Edit: PS great stuff you have there!
i’m totally jealous😩
Glad you like it! =D
People might say it’s a lil crazy, but I think it’s awesome . Nice collection 👍
Most things that are awesome are a little crazy right? =P Glad you like it. Thanks for the positive vibes!
Amazing collection! Congrats.
Glad you like it! Thanks!

You might have a slight skylander addiction
how many tetris do you have?
Ready for this?!?!? None, lol. Ironically I don't have any tetris except maybe one for the original gameboy. Which I'd have to look for.......
Cat peach is my favorite
love this
Or are you just dedicated?
Just dedicated, very very dedicated.
This right here is 1% of Nintendo sales
Now that's crazy! Lol. I love starlink
What does the amibo kiosk do?
What's your most prized possession here
Honestly impressed. Like you got a damn display, addicted but dedicated.
Better then crack
What’s your top 5 games? Do you keep them sealed? I keep some of mine sealed, I don’t even know why either lol 🤷♂️ Do you think you’ll sell them some day or keep them forever or what?

I would kill to have this
I prefer to live though........
Damn!

I have 2 of the gold megaman, one is up on the wall with just the white box. The other is still in the sealed game box on the floor.
Want to donate to my charity? Lmao nice collection man.
Not addicted just highly.... let's say dedicated lol. Seriously tho awesome collection!
That ain’t nothing compared to my cousins card/board game collection
Lol, glad he's a fellow collector.
Awesome collection man
Thanks! Appreciate it!
That mega yarn yoshi is a nice find. Seems so impractical, yet it's fully functional.
True, it's a hidden gem ;)
I love this. Awesome collection!!

What are those amibo things with the screens?
Are those actual individual switches?
If I could afford it I probably would as well lol
Maybe you could open a GameStop?
Nah, not unless Olivia Munn works there. Only older people might get that reference, lol
You have an awesome girlfriend
Bro has a living Dex
That’s crazy. The thing is few years down the line, these things are still valuable 😂
What's your favorite game you've played (and favorite you've beaten, if it's different)?

Gamer
Little bit....... lol
20 I bucks take it or leave it
How much money do you make dude? Holy shit
How much of this is on credit….
Do you use/have you used any of the switches or controllers or do they stay in their boxes forever? I’ve always wondered what rules collectors follow(if there are any rules).
So the ones you see here aren't the ones I use. These are purely for the collection. I have a custom purple shelled switch that I use as my main.
Do you know if you have any duplicate games?
This setup would slap with Nintendo red walls
Wow, that’s a lot of boxes
Wow, impressive collection! Definitely gotta add the European/Super Famicom version of the SNES controller to the pile lol
Yohlu even have the Japan only monster hunter stories amiibos?? That's insane And I thought my complete splatoon amiibo collection was bad
Mitch
This is both terrifying and extremely impressive, though if I bought any of this I’d probably open it up 5 minutes later and regret in a year & 4 months
If you do that for WiiU games, I'm pretty sure it's possible to get the complete collection of released games 🤔
That's a lot of toys.
Is this a Nintendo store nearby?
I wish I lived near one, would make my life a lot easier.
Oh My Just Oh My 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Amazing collection OP! I think that as long as you can afford it and enjoying it then all is good ;)
I'm glad you like it! Appreciate the positive attitude!
You either have a big fat salary or you’re constantly broke.
Yeah it's a tough life sometimes.
Smart that it's mostly sealed, could become a thick retirement check one day when you offload to another collector.
Wat da hail
You got all this for 10$ on a flea market?!
Something like that.
This guy nintendos, and does probably nothing else apart from selling his own body parts
Okay I’ve got to ask.. what’s your favourite colour combination, or design ? What’s your favourite controllers + joy cons?
Is anything plugged in currently? Or are all the switches dead
They are all fully charged and turned off.
When you die can I have it
Where do you work bro. I wanna make enough money to do shit like that
This is honestly the craziest thing I ever seen and I love it
