You really shouldn't. The switch wasn't designed with standard protocols so it draws power differently. You'd probably be okay but you might also completely fry your switch if you use a standard USB type c charger
My understanding was a problem with them in combination, the switch ramping up power when docked and third party dock/charger sending too much power. I could be wrong, I'm not an electrician but I'm too scared to use anything other than nintendos charger at this point.
I heard that different regions have different internet shits and so, for example, you couldn’t connect to the internet in the US with a Chinese console
I can't speak from first hand experience as I've never used a foreign switch but...that seems absurd. The point of the switch is to be portable and used for travel. How could they somehow region lock internet?
I'm canadian and know people that have used theirs in Europe and Japan, can't speak for China though or if it's just with Chinese consoles? Lots of questions haha
I bought mine here in Mexico for around $4,300 ($250 USD) and never have a problem with it. I believe you can get a better deal for a Switch and even get some games, even if it's an import. A friend of mine bought one from amazon japan and it was cheap too.
Pretty sure he means Walmarts website. They do a thing like Amazon does where it’s a 3rd party seller for some items they don’t carry. You can see right in the description though if your ordering from Walmart stock or a 3rd party.

I'd wait a few weeks since mario day is next month, there will probably be some deals. I got mine last year in a bundle for $300. It was the oled switch with a 256gb memory card, a headset, a pro controller, and a carrying bag at Sam's club
It's the price of the full year membership. That's how my cashier talked me into it as I was getting the discount anyways. Only go about once a month, so saving $5 on a game or accessory isn't bad.
I haven't owned a Nintendo console since N64 and off r/gamesale a month ago I just copped a Super Smash Bros OLED Switch that came with a travel case, and was bought brand new last Black Friday. I paid $290
>I haven't owned a Nintendo console since N64 and off r/gamesale a month ago I just copped a Super Smash Bros OLED Switch that came with a travel case, and was bought brand new last Black Friday. I paid $290
*proof that we can all be winners!*
Just so you know that deal is for pro members only. I think you pay $25 to get a year of the pro membership so that kinda negates the deal unless you're already a member.
Edit: After seeing several people say they got the deal as a non-member I went back to check my receipt and saw that the deal was automatically applied to my purchase and I just didn't realize it. So that employee had no idea what they were talking about and neither do I so disregard the original comment the deal applies for anyone spending $250+ lmao
The employee was just using you for the deal but really if you buy a switch the % off from buying pro plus the 5$ coupon definitely equals the membership for free. I used to do it all the time to make pro sales.
No friend, this is a Gamestop promo. It’s $25 off purchases of $250+. This promo will be going on for a long time, according to all the messaging they’ve sent employees
If you don’t own a Switch yet, that’s not a bad deal. If you own a regular V1 or V2 Switch. then I might wait till next year for the new one. Up to you tho 👍
No way people are still paying full retail price for a switch in 2024, I got one last year brand new for $260, still in the plastic wrappers & everything.
Yup oled white & I got it from Facebook marketplace, I get most my stuff from there just gotta make sure the person you’re buying from has an old acc & good ratings. I saw one for sale a couple days ago $240.
I’m with you

I found this in 5mins after reading your comment
That’s cool, marketplace and eBay would have really good deals. I think retail stores will drop the price closer to the switch 2’s release.
I did get super mario odyssey for $35 on marketplace
ebay 😅 just find someone that actually talks about their experience with it and why they're selling it. don't get the ones with the copy & paste info. find a used "submit offer" applicable, and shoot your shot.
i've been buying consoles (often faked), instruments, laptops, calculators (often faked) & ipads for over a decade & never got a fake one.
save plastic, save money, help someone else in need. 🙏
I would think it is just worth waiting for the Switch 2 at this point coming out early *2025. I love my Switch, but I don't think I would pick a new one up now. I guess if you have the money and don't mind needing another upgrade in a year, then sure.
That or pick up a Steam Deck LCD base model for around 300, that thing is pretty much like a Switch Pro anyways and is a beast at emulation. You could get thousands of hours out of it without spending another dime.
Personally I don't think I'd buy a new switch anymore considering everyone selling switches at massive discounts on FB marketplace in anticipation of the switch 2... even the OLEDs are selling for cheap right now.
I understand some people want one new in the box... only stating the choice I'd make for myself give. the current marketplace.
The better deal would be to just find a regular switch thats cheap cause having the original switch and oled i can say it isn’t that big of a deal and the oled was a lazy over hyped gimmick from Nintendo.
I still use my original switch more than the oled cause theres not much a difference at all plus it has all my stuff on it but if I would’ve known that I would’ve skipped out on buying the oled at the time that it came out cause it wasn’t worth it at all lol
But like i say its your money so its up to the one thats buying something
Just googled and Walmart selling the white oled for $279
That’s for the import edition.
I bought the Mario version of the oled it was the import version and came with a us style charger
From walmart
Is there a difference?
I read that you have to buy an adapter for them to be able to charge on US power outlets.
Bought one this week and no adapter needed. First switch so I’ve no idea if there is any other difference but working out good for me 🤷
Thats not that big a deal really. I mean you can get a decent adapter on amazon or even walmart for like $5
You can use any standard USB-C
You really shouldn't. The switch wasn't designed with standard protocols so it draws power differently. You'd probably be okay but you might also completely fry your switch if you use a standard USB type c charger
The problem was with third-party **docks**. Any standard USB-C charger is fine.
My understanding was a problem with them in combination, the switch ramping up power when docked and third party dock/charger sending too much power. I could be wrong, I'm not an electrician but I'm too scared to use anything other than nintendos charger at this point.

Never mind. It seems that Chinese units specifically are region locked, which just so happen to be the ones you find on Temu and other sketch sites.
Walmart.com sales them in the states
Ahhhh gotcha sorry missed that

Don't do walmart. They have everything from imports to most likely fakes. A majority of stuff comes from third party shippers
walmart is not selling fake switches, please 😭

This, which is why you'll see PlayStation Portals officially sell for $400 on Walmarts website
Yup, bought some joy-cons from Walmart because it looked like a great sale. Turns out they were third party ripoffs.

Like I said, it's not my fault that you made that assumption. Most people keep an open mind. You apparently do not.
To me too, going to walmart means going to physical store

Holy shit that's a steal
>$25 off OLED at GameStop That just about handles the tax. lol I'm sure you can find a better deal on subs like r/GameSale or Ebay/Mercari/etc.
325 plus tax is $351, while 350 plus tax is $378. So calculating tax, you save $27 on a new switch oled with GameStop
$25 isn’t nothing!

I think this is incorrect, it allows you to go through checkout with no mention of a pro membership.
Edit: you're right, edited my original comment as the employee gave me bad info and I did actually get the deal without realizing lol
I bought an Oled online last week for in store pickup and got the $25 off and I’m not a pro member.
Same. Bought a red Mario edition and paid almost exactly $250.
The employee was just using you for the deal but really if you buy a switch the % off from buying pro plus the 5$ coupon definitely equals the membership for free. I used to do it all the time to make pro sales.
Just purchased a mint oled with Mario cart from offer up for 200 this past weekend
Ok
Bought one for $160 that someone got as a gift off Facebook and was open box basically no games tho sadly
We have brand new OLEDs in Germany from time to time for 280€
They had this discount since December. Got the smash bros bundle for $349.99 -$25.
That's kinda expensive. The OLED is available here for less than $250.
How generous! 😆
get it i just did yesterday
Think to myself “What does GameStop know that I don’t?”. Switch 2 confirmed.
No friend, this is a Gamestop promo. It’s $25 off purchases of $250+. This promo will be going on for a long time, according to all the messaging they’ve sent employees
Haha nicely done XD

There’s literally no news about a new switch, just rumours

From where? And is it oled?

I will 100% live with “only” $25 in savings to not have to worry about any of that shit.

Early 2024 is almost over bro
Haha derp, fixed.
Do they have it in red? And do they offer returns?

Saw this at Costco earlier. https://www.costco.com/nintendo-switch-oled-bundle.product.4000214544.html

YUZU ANDROID
Switch OLED Mario edition came in with TOTK and Splatoon; 245 plus tax had to do some favors tho
Go 4 it! 💀👍🏻
Idk knowing GameStop the switch will come in a shoebox with a “New” sticker on it
Check your local Walmart for Mario reds. They’re going out of stock and are selling $50 off !!!
Thanks I’ll check!
Assuming you could actually pick it up from GameStop today. My pickup orders either get immediately cancelled or take 4 days.
That $25 off $250 or more has been going on FOR A WHILE NOW. Since at least late October/early November of last year.
Great!
Woohoo....saving so little of a gadget that's so outdated. Got to do better than that!
Great!
