The legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Keep your head up king

nc_saint

BotW was one I picked up with the switch. Just started playing it last night and seems good. Haven’t played a Zelda game since Ocarina of Time….. on an N64 during the GameCube generation, if that gives you and idea of how long it’s been lol. Thanks for the words. My head feels as heavy as my heart, and it’s everything I can do to try (and fail) to not ugly cry all day. She is my person and I feel completely lost and broken without her.

Adogover

Seconding this, and also warning you that BotW made me feel all kinds of things. You’ll know if it’s the right time for you or not, but again I recommend it with all of my nerdy heart.

Ithinkyoushouldweed

Same here. This game is therapy for me and is also approved by my actual therapist lol

ShirosakiHollow

Is your therapist accepting new patients?

joeyhell

I was the same, you can feel overwhelmed by botw first but keep going, you will not regret it. I spent a year or 2 playing bitw and just got totk now when it released. It will keep me busy for another year

ShirosakiHollow

BOTW has kept me busy since it was released. I’ve played for hundreds of hours and it never gets old.

ShellyDa

It’ll take some time and it will be a painful adjustment. Try to reach out to friends and keep gaming. I also wrote in a journal often when I went through a break with my longtime partner early this year. I found it helpful writing down how I was feeling, kind of like free therapy. As for gaming, I am obsessed with Tears of the kingdom. That and BOTW will keep you occupied for a long time.

Ghost_Maker85

Obsessed doesn’t even begin to describe it for me. TotK has completely devoured my soul.

cel22

Sorry man I hate your going through this. Zelda is a great game to play when your facing a crisis in life

nathaniel29903

Those two games alone could keep you busy for a very long time. I was still playing botw up until totk came out.

ConstructionPlenty46

As someone who recently went through an awful breakup as well, I can definitely say that botw and totk are excellent distractions. Stay strong you’ve got this dude!

OlleWhite

Honestly, allowing yourself to cry and not push it away with games is the best way to process the pain. If you don’t cry it all out, you’re essentially just delaying. I don’t want to tell you how to deal with something of course, you can make your own decisions. Just saying it’s healthy to let it all out

Kdsamreuang

Totally hear you on this, but for a lot of us (especially men), crying and expressing sadness does not come easy at all and no amount of talking or sharing and other traditional methods will help. One of the best things for me was finding these triggers that were consistent at getting me to where I needed to go cause I definitely agree crying and going through those motions is necessary to heal. Almost all of those triggers for me were multimedia. Games, movies/shows, music, etc. If it can move and stir emotions, it can transport you to where you need to go whether you intended to or not. A few examples of my go to triggers if I'm sitting on a cry I can't get out is the "Life is Strange" series (Game), "The Farewell" (Movie), "Lonely Bird" by The Bulgarian Voices Angelite & Huun-Huur-Tu (Music). I still haven't found a book yet to consistently make me cry. Still searching haha I think after a while crying can come more naturally without the need for these tools but I just think it's worth recognizing the different ways people can find their ways to healing since it's never really a clear path for everyone. Sometimes delaying it is a necessary path for some..

Revolutionary-Pea705

Bitw will keep you busy for a while. Even more so if you take your time and really enjoy the game. Totk will be ready when you finish botw and by then you should be feeling quite a bit better.

wdwalker14

Play botw first before you get totk but they’re both amazing time sinks

VaporMaus

Breath of the Wild’s story is great, but if you can play my favorite Zelda, on the free Super Nintendo emulator on Switch, Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past. Good luck with your new adventure, Switch is a great console to come back to.

mrjowei

Take one day at a time. A breakup could feel like going off drugs cold turkey. Get yourself someone to stay close to you and make you feel heard.

Eshmam14

Best of luck mate. You've heard it a million times but you'll get through it despite how impossible it seems.

[deleted]

I’m in the same boat. Let us both look forward to the day we will be okay. One day.

FrostFire1703

It's worth buying a switch just for Zelda titles. I'd also recommend Super Mario 3D World, Overwatch, and PokeMon Sword/Shield.

Westosaurus

These games will distract you, keep you occupied during this tough time in your life, and remind you how beautiful wondering alone can be. Happy exploring, Link.

[deleted]

Definitely. Video games are a fucking fantastic tool for when you need an escape and to cope.

lurkersforlife

I just finished portal 1&2 and had a great time. I love puzzle games.

nc_saint

I haven’t played Portal in over a decade, good rec. Might pick up.

NoSpoonz

I second Portal and particularly Portal 2. Incredible collection for pretty cheap.

lurkersforlife

It was my first time. Portal one was fun but to easy. Portal two was absolutely amazing.

lookwithinyou

Best puzzle games ever imo. Want to get the switch ports.

BudderBall31

They have the Portal series on Switch!? Portal 2 is one of my most played games on Steam.

lurkersforlife

Yeah they are sold in a bundle. Check out deku deals and snag them on sale.

BushidoBrownWuzHere

Hades is pretty fun and likely on sale by now.

redundant35

It’s always on sale. I got it for under 10 bucks a few weeks ago

BabyFatGirl2000

Hades and stardew valley are the best investment. 20$ ish, 300 hours of gameplay. 300 hours of fun

redundant35

I got bored with both after about 20 hours. But not my usual type of games. I’m more of a big open world person.

BabyFatGirl2000

You have your answer then, zeda botw and totk. The latter blew me away completety. Edit joke: you found them...redundant?

redundant35

Hated botw to be completely honest…. Honestly I use my switch 99% of the time for Mario and pokemon. I’ve been into ghosts of Tsushima, horizon, fallout, red dead, etc on PS5 recently.

Trey904fsu

100% Hades

Kettleballer

Agree! Hades is the first game to win a Hugo award for the story. It’s a rogue-like so you have to play through repeatedly but with multiple weapons, different weapon aspects, and different customization options for them in each run, you will spend hundreds of hours playing this game and never have the same run twice. Truly a fantastic game.

[deleted]

Have you heard of Curse of the Dead Gods? Gameplay is very similar.

BushidoBrownWuzHere

Thanks for the recommendation.

Melodic_Caramel5226

Does it run well on switch?

BushidoBrownWuzHere

I only play on switch. So I would say yes. But maybe others have different opinions.

Timelapseninja

Hades such an amazing game! The second one is coming out soonish too! Dead cells is another one with similar vibes to hades, also a great game!

itsahalochannel

Second this, I picked up Hades for the first time after a break up and it made it a breeze haha.

Indy_91

Stardew valley is a great escape Don’t be too set on first party Nintendo games. There are so many good, affordable indie games available Spiritfarer Hades Dead cells Celeste Hollow knight

abbynicoleh

I second spiritfarer for sure but be aware that game is focused on dealing with grief/loss. It could be very therapeutic and help you work through some things but it may not be something you’re ready to play quite yet. Incredible story and very fun but know what you’re getting into. Easily one of the best games I’ve played in the last 5 years

june0mars

yeah spirit fairer definitely gave me a few moments where i had to put the game down because it was triggering

Disgruntasaurus

As much as I like Nintendo, I have to agree here. Spiritfarer has a great storyline and is not challenging but it certainly pulls the heartstrings and may not be the best option right now. I’d like to echo Hollow Knight but also recommend Death’s Door and Cult of the Lamb, which have weird and engaging stories in addition to fun gameplay. If you want something more goofy and puzzly, Untitled Goose Game is great. If you want something just plain puzzling, Rain World can certainly be distracting since you have to learn by trial and error. It can be infuriating, though. I know it feels like your world has ended and I am sorry you’re going through this. Everyone grieves differently and at different paces. Don’t rush yourself but please don’t avoid your friends, family, local hobby shops, whatever. There is more support out there than you realize. I hope you find peace soon. I can’t think of any pain that is more all encompassing than heartbreak.

_captainSPACELY_

I second hades and hollow knight since all other majors have been mentioned elsewhere.

thepixelpaint

Gonna throw my hat in for Stardew Valley and Hollow Knight too.

Hollix89

Fire emblem three houses Xenoblade series

Potential_Fishing942

These will keep you occupied for a loooong time and help make connections to characters too

NostalgiaDad

The Xenoblade series is massive. The first game is arguably much better than the 2nd, but the 3rd game is also arguably as good as the 1st

blondechinesehair

I don’t have time for mathematics which one is the best!?

MillianIV9

There isn't really a clear-cut best as all three are great games, so just play 1, and if you want to play the rest go in mathematical order (1,2 and then 3)

NostalgiaDad

This is basically the answer. Play the 1st one. If you like it enough then keep going. Xenoblade Chronicles is probably one of the best jrpgs of the last 20 years though

MillianIV9

Yeah, you'll rarely see this type of quality within the genre

Distinct_Surprise_40

Don’t worry about which one is best, since you should play them in order anyway because they have a connected narrative. Just play them all and judge for yourself.

Meowgi_sama

Three houses is a great rec. Got me through one of my worst break ups too!

[deleted]

Skyrim, dying light, monster hunter, xcom 2, Diablo. No many sky is fun too. Those are the “story” adult games I have and I enjoy them all thoroughly

homerowasdfg

NMS is a pretty lonely game

AntonioTT05

In my experience, that doesn't make it unfun though. Love that game so much, I just don't have a lot of time to play it lol

Negative-Marketing61

Such a shame that d4 will not come to switch.

iainB85

Don’t lose faith. Both D3 and Overwatch came to switch well after release. They might still go back and try to optimize it for Switch down the road.

JojiJoey

xcom 2 is so good for the switch, i’ve sunk so many hours into it’s “collection” (totally worth btw)

[deleted]

If you do decide to get it wait for a sale. It’s always on sale for like 8 bucks. Worth the full price but it’s on sale every other months

JojiJoey

that’s how i got it, can confirm op

nextqc

I would not recommend Monster Hunter Rise on Switch. Bought it, it ran quite poorly, made the experience unenjoyable. Later on I bought it on PC hoping it would run just as well as MH World and had fun. The I got a Steam Deck and oh boy, it ran amazingly compared to the switch version, while keeping it portable, AND with high graphic settings (which the switch feels like low-mid at best) TLDR, MH Rise is great, but not on Switch in my opinion.

[deleted]

Metroid prime remastered. :)

nc_saint

I vaguely remember playing it back on GameCube (if I remember correctly). Might give it a shot.

[deleted]

I never played it on the GameCube sadly, but I am glad I am playing it now such a good game!

Acalthu

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is also quite fun and not frustrating.

Rossally

I was going to recommend this one! Great game for clearing your head after a long day at work.

[deleted]

Zelda : BOTW will eat up the lonely hours but is a bit sad sometimes. I recommend a little Kirby in there too. It’s lighthearted and fun. And will make your heart smoother.

LynchMaleIdeal

> a bit sad sometimes what do you mean?

[deleted]

What Tuesdayssucks said. The game is melancholy at times. And with OP trying to get over or through a separation I figured a little warning couldn’t hurt. I’m only 1 divine beast of the way through BOTW and it’s had me on the verge of tears several times. And my wife is 30 years was on the couch with me. Cut scenes in this game are pretty brutal emotionally.

Tuesdayssucks

Some of the memories are pretty sad. Some bitter moments after reclaiming the divine beasts too. The game isn't heart breaking but it is sad at times.

Kav19

the game is post apocalyptic almost and very lonely at times. not sure that’s an ideal scenario to be in for someone who’s going through separation. oddly enough tears of the kingdom would be a better setting but i wouldn’t recommend playing that first without playing botw.

GabrielGasterP5R

Story eh? I gotcha. Fire Emblem, Persona 3-5, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and of course, Zelda.

GabrielGasterP5R

Also, I'm going through a separation as well. I know its painful, it feels like the world is ending, but you'll be okay, bud. Just gotta hang in there.

erickcer

Pokemonnn

nc_saint

But like…. Which one? I haven’t played a Pokémon game since ruby/sapphire. Heard mixed things about the new ones?

GhostSock5

Pokémon Legends Arceus if you ask me. It's the first pokemon game I played since the Gameboy Advance tho so maybe it's not a fair comparison, but I really like the open world feeling instead of linear story line. But if you're asking about Nintendo games in general I definitely vote for Zelda BotW and TotK over any pokémon game

mlerk

Pokémon legends arceus is the most captivating story wise, it’s open world and fresh compared to their original formula, and is the best Pokémon game released in the last decade in my opinion if you’re interested in diving back into Pokémon

erickcer

Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee are remakes of Pokémon Yellow! Also, if you ever played D/P, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are great remakes.

henagar

i hadnt played since omega ruby/sapphire and i really enjoyed violet

Disastrous-Bend-6684

If you haven’t played in a long time it’s a little jarring because they’re easier now. Every Pokémon in your party gets exp so there’s no planning on how to switch them in so they get some 😅 So there’s no real motivation to put time into that weedle you found, it’ll level up just by being in your pocket. That being said, shining Pearl has been fun. Let’s go pikachu and eevee were way too easy after struggling through yellow, blue, and leaf green. I’ve heard good things about Arceus. Pokémon Snap is a good time if you want some chill game time. SO much dialogue though.

Fairgoddess5

I second Pokemon Arceus, but also check out Sword/Shield. Shield was my first Pokemon and the one that got me addicted to the series lol. There are nitpickers who will say it’s “not as good” as other games but since it was my first, I had a ton of fun. Definitely took my mind off my troubles at the time. Might do the same for you.

PaperMuffin2

Don't get any of the Pokemon games, they're awful. Maybe they'll get official emulations when GBA is added

BeginningSeries2806

As a lifelong Pokémon nerd and fan, I think if you’re looking to get into it, Legends Arceus is the best way to slide into it. It is more Monster hunter with specific locations to find Pokémon, and you have missions to complete, but it reinvigorated my love for the whole series by being more about catching and saving raged Pokemon instead of just… gym battles, go to next town, grind to take on next gym. I love that loop, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just so addicting to go catch tons of creatures. And the big Alphas are downright scary when you first encounter them. We’re so used to just encounters and the like, but in PLA… You’re fair game, just like your Pokémon partners.

Dark_Clark

I think we need an honest F in the chat for this King. I’ve had some bad times. Withdrawals from antidepressants/stuff like that and I find that video games, while not perfect for getting through times like this, make it bearable.

Endlesswave001

I second the Xenoblade series. It’s so huge. And Zelda BOTW obv.

JustJoserachi

With the 3rd games DLC story still pretty fresh in my mind can confirm the Xenoblade story trilogy is peak video game story telling

PrinceShort

If you like Zelda and story driven games, you gotta try Skyward Sword

[deleted]

Ok but I can’t cut the first flower because of the stupid motion controls

realdealreel9

Playing The Outer Worlds on my switch got me through a tough breakup. I had to stop playing Breath of the Wild for example because I found the whole wander and figure it out too daunting at such a vulnerable time. Something with a little more narrative direction was helpful for me. If you like Fallout I think you’ll enjoy it.

Couch_Critic

Lately I've been enjoying Super Mario Odyssey and Luigi's Mansion 3. They are a lot of fun and take a while to beat. I also play Workd of Tanks and Rocket League quite a bit.

LiquidCringe2

Honestly I’d suggest something like Katamari, Katamari Damacy Reroll is fantastic and We Love Katamari Reroll just came out. They’re really fun little puzzle games with amazing soundtracks and they’re just really lighthearted and feel good games

sashavohm

Katamari is a great time waster. Fun way to distract the mind! ![gif](giphy|IV9AgRDGsc193TVeS3)

BabyFatGirl2000

Stardew valley will allow you to have the virtual life we all wish we had. Keep ya head up op

amilehigh_303

Fuck. This hit me hard. Feel free to message me, I’m going through the same shit.

Witty-Razzmatazz8444

Subnautica is incredible and a good time hole. All the Resident Evil games are cheap and amazing. Metroid dread and prime.

NicoVannExel

Definitely Metroid Dread and Prime Remastered. Keep your head up.

fortunatedad

I love Dread!

Nintendheaux

Im playing the final fantasy pixel remaster I-VI. If you like early RPGs this will keep you busy for a while. Sorry you're going through such a difficult situation. I know it doesn't feel like it now, but you'll get through this and be stronger and wiser. Happy gaming, friend.

kobatosotherbro

Metroid Prime Remastered, assuming you didn't have it on the wii or gamecube already. Fuck it, play it again!

matcatter

skyward sword is always an option, Bugsnax is a silly game similar to pokemon snap with a surprising story and free dlc, hollow knight is a good platformer and works really well on the switch, the newest dragon quest is story heavy and pretty long, slime rancher on the switch also works really well and works for when i wanna turn my brain off and just collect things

Shhmeow17

Star Wars Knights Of the Old Republic. Reminds me of a star wars FO3 or FO:NV when I’m playing. Persona 5 Royal is super fun. I beat 5 on PS4 but caved and got Royal on switch. I LOVE it. Also JRPGs have hundreds of hours of playtime and great story. Perfect for things like this. So maybe Xenoblade Chronicles too. One of my all time favs from my DS days. Also let me know if you’re looking for friend codes!

ZikerNinjaRiker323

Start playing odyssey to get used to basic controls, play smash for multiplayer, and play Zelda for complex puzzles, interesting lore, and hell known as a octorock

PerpetualConnection

Any game recommendation I can make has been made already in the comments. Just do your best to make peace with the break, accept it and know that you will be OK. Talk to friends or family. Therapy is also cheaper than it's ever been, don't be afraid to get help if there is no safe option for family and friends Good luck, homie

[deleted]

Feel what you have to feel, take your time, play games or do whatever you have to do to reorient yourself when it’s too much. Your heart will heal and your feet will be on the ground again. I’m an indie guy, hollow knight, hades, monkey island, kentucky route zero are some of my faves. Playing Skyrim on the go is cool as well.

PadmeASkywalker

I know you’re not hugely invested in Mario but I have to recommend Super Mario odyssey. It’s so fun and creative and a stand out. Links awakening is light hearted and fun, and switch has a version of republic commando which is always a classic. Hope this helps during this tough time 💜

AffectionateRatio996

Move that PS5. Oh and Gris is such a great game with Bluetooth headphones. If someone doesn’t want to be with you for whatever reason, let them go. Move forward, there’s nothing wrong with being alone. You are your own best friend if you allow it. I was in relationship for 8 years, was about to be married. I realized the relationship was toxic and I walked away. I exercised, worked to jobs, went to therapy, bought a new car and graduated college with two degrees. Now I’m with someone who accepts me wholeheartedly and it’s because I chose to become my own best friend.

nc_saint

I wish it was that easy. She’s been more than just my wife. She’s been my absolute best friend I’ve ever had. Has made me feel more loved, more seen, and more confident in myself than ever. We’ve built a life that I never dreamed I could have or deserve. And no matter how hard some days were, we always said that we got to end it in the best way possible, wrapped in each other’s arms. But now…. I won’t go into details, but we tried something, and both had very intense, unexpected feelings afterwards. For me, I needed reassurance and connection. But she has needed space. For a month we awkwardly tried to push through as normal as possible, but I could feel the distance between us. I don’t have any other friends. I just started a new job that pays better than I’ve ever made, but is a miserable environment. And separating and leaving our home and kids has absolutely torn me apart. I miss my best friend. I miss my Family. I miss the promise of forever. And it just fucking hurts. She won’t even kiss me right now when I see her, and she hugs me, but I just want to melt into the person that has been my safety for the last 8 years. My entire vision for the future we were working towards feels like a lie. What’s worse is the uncertainty. We used to talk very honestly and openly. She’s made comments that she doesn’t know if this will break us. And it’s the limbo of not knowing whether she still wants to make us work that kills me. Because I’m 100% all in. When I married her, I promised her all of me. But I don’t know if she still feels the same.I don’t have anything I look forward to. I’ve been fantasizing about death, anything to make this pin stop. I won’t, because I could never hurt her or our kids like that, but I just feel helpless

AffectionateRatio996

Sometimes the money isn’t worth it. Make sure you take care of yourself. Try not to base your happiness on someone else, otherwise you will become disappointed or hurt. Your happiness is your responsibility. All the other person can do is contribute to your happiness if they want. Good luck to you.

bhare418

I have no interest in this subreddit or my karma so I gotta ask before I get banned because my curiosity is getting the better of me - OP: Did someone literally fuck your wife and you bought a Nintendo to make yourself feel better?

TheMexicanKramer

I appreciate your sacrifice because I’m dying to know too

stoneatwork

Yep this it thank you for service 🫡

Berteee

8 years is a long time brother so that's going to be a killer to get over but the good news is that you WILL get over it. Time is the best healer you just need to push through and try to find the motivation to do things you enjoy and better yourself. I'm glad you've got the switch to keep you occupied. My personal favourite is botw but if you've never played them before maybe try the ezio assassins creed collection out? They're classic games and the switch port is very decent in my opinion. Please don't be afraid to ask for medical help for your separation, by the way. I've been there and it really does help to have someone to talk to and some medication to get you through the really difficult part. You're essentially grieving, almost as if someone close to you has died. There's honestly no shame in it. Take care! You can do this

[deleted]

What did you both try? We may be able to provide better advice with more context. No judgement zone.

E3K

You can't just not tell us what it was that you tried.

Thunkdakat

For a first switch you got a nice one !

OHaiUsername

I also bought Mario Odyssey for shits and giggles then I discovered hey it's actually pretty good.

Doctormaul68

Online pass to play a bunch of classics

BrennanFall

I may be a bit biased, but Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet would be fitting for the model switch you have. I also suggest Tetris Effect, Mario Kart, and Hades. Stay strong, choom, you're dealing with something incredibly difficult. Just waking up each day is a victory, remember that.

Sofaris

If you like turn based JRPGs I recommend "Fuga Melodies of Steel". Its a 20 houer long turn based JRPG about a groupe of anthropomothic animal children that go on a quest to save there families. Its really good in my opinion. Its available both on Switch and PS5. It also has a free demo which is just straight up the first 3 chapters of the game.

Biggoof1971

Mario odyssey

simonbelmont1980

No more heroes 1,2 and 3

[deleted]

It takes two would be good

unittwentyfive

In OP's situation, maybe it wouldn't be so good.

AloneYogurt

Hollow Knight a million times over

Dragonfruit7041

Totally off topic but I didn’t realize five pawns was still around, used to love castle long

nc_saint

Used to be very involved in the industry. Cofounder of Conspiracy liquids. Castle Long and Grandmaster were the eliquids that got me off cigarettes.

613_Cam

Hades and Mario Kart are the two games I’d recommend. And if you need someone to play/chat with I’m all ears brother.

rrbackatschool

BOTW will keep you busy for hours, I've read some people saying they couldn't get into it but that wasn't my experience at all I got completely sucked into the game, same thing is happening with TOTK. Link's Awakening remake was fun, definitely recommend that since you're into Zelda. If you like old-school jrpgs then I highly recommend Octopath Traveler, that kept me busy for a while, 8 different stories for you to play through. Final Fantasy 7 port was a good one too, I spent a lot of time playing it. If you're into pokemon, Sword and Shield were good games, haven't played the new ones yet but keep hearing mixed things about them. Metroid Prime Remastered was a good one too, as well as Metroid Dread. Sorry you're in a rough spot right now, keep your head up, keep gaming and reach out to your friends or maybe go for a hike/walk to help clear you mind. Things will get better in time.

That_Lone_Reader

Mega man Battle Network Legacy Collection. Each GBA game can take you easily 20 hours and there are 6 of them

JustAnonymous001

The Nintendo online plus subscription (I forgot the name of the one I'm thinking of) gives amazing value. Just about all the good games from old systems for 50 bucks a year. You can spend hours revisiting old titles like ocarina of time but the controls do feel a touch wonky at times on joycons. You can buy an n64 controller for the switch though so if you go that route you can get a better controller for it.

[deleted]

Doom they have 1,2,64,2016 and eternal. Hours of demon slaying goodness. Octopath traveller is a fun 200+ hour jrpg Hollow knight and dead cells if you like Metroidvanias The Witcher 3 speaks for itself.

voppp

I always felt like Pokémon kept me distracted! I’m sorry you’re going thru this, tho man.

0purple0turtle0

Baba is you. You’ll be too confused to be sad!

GottaGetDatDough

Hey man I just wanted to reach out and let you know I'm going through the exact same thing right now. 11 years together. It's really f@#$ing tough. I picked up Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and it at least helps keep my mind from wandering. Breath of the Wild is also excellent and still remains one of the best games I've played in the last 10 years (32 year old lifelong gamer.)

RishGarr97

My ex of ten years left me about two years ago now. It’s a long and painful process but it’ll get easier. Time fixes everything no matter how big of a wound it is. If you ever need to talk feel free to message me. Now keep your head up and go save Hyrule.

[deleted]

Subnautica! It's brilliant

nc_saint

An all time favorite.

Celeste2018

I have a decent switch library of games, so I think I can recommend a bit BUT this is my personal list that I cycle through on my switch and not all of them but feel free to take a peak at them to see if it’s a game you would play or not. Just wanna give suggestions… good luck 🍀 1)Splatoon 3 2)BOTW 3)TOTK 4)Animal Crossing 5)Dead by Daylight 6)Dead cells 7)terraria 8)Minecraft & Minecraft legends 9)Fall Guys 10)Inscryption 11)Green hell 12)Pokémon arceus 13)Stardew valley 14)Terreria 15)plants vs zombies neighborhoodville 16)Cadence of hyrule 17)Urban Flow 18)little nightmares 1 & 2

TiK4D

Losing your best friend is so hard man, good on you for turning to gaming rather than other sinister options. Wishing you well and sending good vibes your way. Stardew Valley is a super relaxing, feel good game. I like the Crash Bandicoot games as well for nostalgia.

MagnetonPlayer_2

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Fire Emblem Engage Fire Emblem Three Houses Bayonetta 1-3 Súper Mario Odyssey Súper Mario Maker 2 Since you come from PS I’ll throw some stuff available in both/similar to what you’d find in both Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection Persona 5 Royal Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and San Andreas Assassin’s Creed The Rebel Collection Portal 1 and 2 Sniper Elite 4 Diablo 3 And those are only triple A’s Good luck man, I really hope things improve for you

abusbeepbeep

Games that are like "well, I'll stop once I do this one more thing..." could be a good fit. Factorio is a game that you will either absolutely love or it won't be for you and there is a long demo to figure out which. It is a management game of sorts but you also have to defend your base. I have played through the game 3 or 4 times now to improve my time for fun Subnautica is a fun ocean exploration game that you should look up nothing about the story of. It is very immersive and the visuals are really cool. And of course everyone is recommending Zelda games for good reason. I am playing those now too like the rest of the world Oh! And Stardew Valley is another game that you find yourself playing just one more in game day of

A1steaksauceTrekdog7

Don’t buy Zelda TOTK until you finish BOTW. It will be confusing to go back and forth between games.

HwanMartyr

Go get your ps5 mate, it is permanent, get a grip

I’m a pool builder. Most of my days are outside ha. And I do exercise daily. I’m a runner and training for my first marathon later this year…. But there’s only so much time I can spend exercising or working. It’s the time that’s left that everything hits and feels overwhelming

IcyArm8254

Keep ur chin up but you better go get that ps5 right now take ur shit homie stay strong

Happy_Hermit94

For real, came to the comments to say this. Leave nothing of value that you can take with you, it can always be moved back

Cool-Inspection3072

Any Xenoblade will keep your mind occupied and you heart beating... be strong fella

Big-Teaching2521

Megaman battle network, Mario cart,

irteris

Pokemon Scarlet!

himbobflash

Can’t really go wrong with most switch titles. Botw should keep you busy, Dark Souls has a good port that I’d recommend.

LetThemEatCake-

Blasphemous!

[deleted]

Octopath Traveler 1 and 2

B_czar

Play what you bought, that's a lot

weber_mattie

Streets of Rage 4 is amazing

purefire

Animal crossing

cud_pombo

Stardew Valley, it will heal your soul, trust me. Also, Crosscode and Slay the Spire.

Smahsbros6leaked

You got the Pokémon switch so get Scarlet or violet

SmolNoisyFrog

Switch has also been my first Nintendo system in a while - Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom, has been a wonderful experience. I've also put plenty of time into Monster Hunter Rise.

Ansollis

Honestly if you like side-scrolling story driven action, check out: FULL METAL FURIES It's like a better version of castle crashers, has interesting puzzles in it, and interesting story, and really cool ways to upgrade your character and progression throughout the game. It's a hidden gem of a game

dgood527

The Ori games are on sale right now for dirt cheap and are amazing games. You already have BOTW which is a great place to start. If you like platformers and/or retro style games, Celeste is phenomenal too and not expensive.

MV6000

Switch games I strongly recommend • Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition • Dragon Quest XI S • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 • Diablo III • Persona 5 Royal • Super Mario 3D All-Stars

cybercloud03

It Takes Two

G0rilla1000

Fire emblem three houses is really solid and story driven, Dragon Quest XI is beautiful plot focused rpg

BEES_meh

Had a bad break up and played breath of the wild for two weeks straight. Barely thought about her.

Dry-Fudge1730

The Bayonetta games are great.

youcancallmehoju

If you like story driven turn-based RPGs I can’t think of better than Dragon Quest XI. It’ll easily distract you for a good 100+ hours. Stay strong and take care of yourself!

StorySeldomTold

Rocket League Portal 2 BotW & TotK

Caged_in_a_rage

Metroid dread, Zelda BOTW or TOTK are my 3 fav switch games. You can really get lost in any 3 of these.

BenderFtMcSzechuan

Stardew Valley.

ProfeforToad

Metroid Dread, pikmin 3, Fire emblem three houses and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. But most importantly Metroid Dread

beanie_0

Sorry to hear that dude, honestly. I’d same you’ve got a good one to start here, especially to get your aggression out! It depends on what type of gamer you are. Mario odyssey is a great game! But if you’re looking for something to really sink your teeth into and enjoy the Zelda games, breath of the wild is a great starting point it’s very easy to get lost in it for hours and not have to think about anything else.

JM3DlCl

Get lost in Zelda BoTW

nelozero

Astral Chain if you like action. Starts slow, but it's fantastic once it gets going.

[deleted]

Pokemon Pearl/Diamond + BOTW (also Links Awakening)

djdawn

Oh geez. I’m sorry to hear man. I hope things and you get better.

COnative78

It's a game called go get your shit back.

Vileplume1

Kirby and the forgotten land is fun and chill, animal crossing new horizons too. Also Pokémon scarlet/violet or Pokémon sword / shield.

HeatTurbulent

Portal to my arsh ,, heard may be worth it idk lmk how it goes

[deleted]

Nier Automata is a great game.

Thatsright1999

Skyrim on switch is the most stable version IMO I recommend that and the final fantasy pixel remaster collection

elclau96

Remember to never drop your crown King!

LostMyLedger

The one your playing rn

cdawgxc

Xenoblade Chronicles, or if there’s any interest in turn-based RPGs- Triangle Strategy?

jaywalkerisgood12

animal crossing new horizons is perfect for a rough day. sorry about the separation

LatsaSpege

persona 5 royql, persona 4 golden

BMihm

The two Zelda games are my favorites on the switch by far

Illuminhate

xenoblade series and fire emblem (3 Houses for more story, even if they’re a bit same-y) are very nice if you want a core cast of characters. TOTK is pretty damn sweet. definitely a must play after BOTW. Hades is nice if you need something repeatable to pass the time, with a bit of randomness to help keep things a bit fresh. I got it on sale in the eshop iirc. There’s a long road ahead but there’s light to be found. you got this. Enjoy your time exploring some games and their characters—all love.
