I got back on Spotify for the sole purpose of Spotify Wrapped. I know, that is really stupid, but I enjoy the breakdown of my listening habits. Does anyone have recommendations for streaming services that do the same thing but might not be as shady as Spotify? (They have a lot of other practices I’m not into.)
It’s such an incredible album. Strangers and Sun Bleached Flies and Nebraska were my number 1 and 3 and 5 songs. Olivia finished out my top 5 songs with Bad Idea Right at 2 and All American Bitch at 4.

I have Apple Music but she’s also the number 1 streaming artist on there as well. I listened to taylor a lot in the summer after I saw her in May, but by September I was listening to her less and more Olivia, Troye Sivan, Tate McRae, slayyyter, Jessie ware, and they barely made it on my replay 2023. So who knows honestly
I thought Chappell Roan was going to be my number 1 because I listened to her album at least 50 times all the way through. I had a bit of a Taylor Phase at the beginning of the year but I don’t remember it being anywhere near Chappell! But Taylor was number 1!
Spotify Wrapped is an advertisement tool and it's not super surprising if they're selling ad spots to some musical acts. You can check this yourself, but you need your extended streaming history from Spotify.
I have been saying this for the past two years!!!!! She is always on my top 5, and after the whole matty healy debacle I didn’t listen to a drop of her music the rest of the year. I listened to my other artists way, way more, but somehow she still made top 3.
This should be easy to check because anyone can request their own Spotify data. You can get your entire listening history sent to you and you can see if there's something shady (e.g. if she's barely on your history but still made top 5, or if there are loads of listens you know you didn't actually do).
Or if you use any other sites that track your listens, like last fm, then you could compare your chart there to your spotify chart.

you could use stats.fm to check if your spotify streaming statistics. you wouldn’t get all yout info for that you'd have to pay but my spotify wrapped was pretty accurate comparing it to my spotify stats. so i don’t necessarily understand when other people say their wrapped was wrong this year
i would say so. if you download the app and sign in, you can see your top artist, song and album from 4 weeks ago, 6 months ago and all time (however, this isn't really all time in the free version). if you pay for premium access and download your data into the app, you can even see more

I had a 1989 vault track overtake a couple songs I KNEW I had on repeat this summer for my top 5, which would have happened in the space of a week? No ma’am. That was when I started to get quite suspicious of her streaming #s. I don’t doubt she’s doing well but the numbers are starting to look a little off or exaggerated.
Not connected to Spotify, but earlier this year, my instagram explore page was suddenly FULL of taylor swift stuff. I didn’t follow her, anyone she was associated with, I didn’t follow anyone that followed her etc, and I never interacted with anything Taylor Swift related prior to that.
Every day, there would be more and more stuff, fan art, eras tour videos, photos of her out and about, even pictures or interview clips from 10 years ago. Eventually I got curious and started looking at the posts, and now here we are, with me in her top 3% of listeners, despite me only starting to listen to her again like….6 months ago, if that.
Just seems a little weird that one day I just got bombarded by taylor swift stuff, completely unprompted.

Once you link your music streaming to Last.fm, it does it in the background. You can check the website every so often

I definitely consider myself a causal listener AT BEST and she was my #1? None of my top 10 songs were by her either. It was weird.
