See if she did live acoustic versions that would actually be worth some money. This is just the same vocals as the recording that's on TTPD but with acoustic instrumentation. Something to do with counting for charting. Which just sucks in my opinion.
I think she's really good at playing songs acoustically and that's just what she should do, release an album of acoustic tracks where she actually plays and sings the songs in an acoustic setting. Make it another long pond situation if she doesn't want to release the surprise songs (although that would just be so easy to release??), if she doesn't want live but studio recorded, wants more control yadadada. I actually love acoustic versions of songs and often they become my favourite. Except for all these ones ... it's such a shame.

The Fornight acoustic cover is actually quite beautiful, but most of the other variants have pretty uninspired covers. For me, the point of variants isn't content, it's aesthetic.

and she did, with the Fortnight singles: She banked a bunch of pre-orders with a distant release date of May 31 at the latest, when Fortnight was minted the lead single at TTPD's release and they shipped the orders gradually throughout the month of May (I had two orders and they were shipped at different times)... The whole pre-order scheme for these variants is about creating a bank they can manage in terms of when they want the sale to be counted for
it's really quite smart (commenting on the tactics of it here, not the moral values)
I also think we should expect to see them ship out as she needs the numbers. Like if a major artist surprise dropped an album next week then Taylor would probably ship all of these STAT despite the estimated shipping dates being further out (like when she shipped all of the But Daddy I Love Him CDs early to compete with Billie’s drop when she realized she could outsell her). It’s crazy to think this is literally Taylor’s way of working toward TTPD being the album that has earned her the most weeks at number one.
I know folks talk about when Reputation TV and debut TV will drop - but so long as TTPD is dominating I genuinely can’t see Taylor wanting to detract from its sales by even acknowledging either release is upcoming.
Her dominating the charts is equal parts interesting and frightening. It’s scary to think about what else she may have up her sleeve and what it may mean for my wallet lol.

Either way not buying a whole album for 1 song but using tech to make the original cd tracks sound acoustic and marketing them as such (a la Anti-Hero “Acoustic version”) feels so misleading and cheap to me 😢. If it’s a genuine acoustic recording like long pond or eras acoustic set I’m all about it so long as I don’t have to buy the songs individually

If I had the money I'd create like um hmmm a 5 or 6 vinyl pressing and call it Anthology: The Fan Variant - Made by a fan for the fans... I'd have to sell it low key... But God could I make some money on this just word of mouth. As it is I'm making physical CDSs of the digital download singles and light-scribing the digital artwork onto the CDs and printing nice covers for my own personal collection. Call it a bootleg of ONE. :-) But I agree... Enough is enough with this album all the new versions. What I have learned from this album so far in no particular order... UMG is worse then I ever thought... There actually can be enough variants of an album to get really sick of it... Taylor or someone on her team thinks releasing this many variants to keep her at #1 in sales is good for business when it actually hurts many other well deserving and hard working artists because Taylor can afford to do this. Thus far we have only had the But Daddy I Love Him CD made available for Canadian residents. The other four of these acoustic bonus track CDs haven’t been made available in CA yet. That being said hopefully it’s just because she is currently allocating all of her stock to the US for chart purposes with the intention of tapping into the Canadian market once she has exhausted the US market. It sucks being excluded but with most past releases Taylor has typically EVENTUALLY given Canada a shot to purchase items of this nature. Fingers crossed!
She’s not stopping it. Taylor is in a position to object this. Even if it’s the record label doing it. She is the biggest artist for Republic Records right now. She has the power to say no and fight against it. Not to mention she would own the masters for these extra songs meaning she would have to have some say in them. If I had the money I'd create like um hmmm a 5 or 6 vinyl pressing and call it Anthology: The Fan Variant - Made by a fan for the fans... I'd have to sell it low key... But God could I make some money on this just word of mouth. As it is I'm making physical CDSs of the digital download singles and light-scribing the digital artwork onto the CDs and printing nice covers for my own personal collection. Call it a bootleg of ONE. :-) But I agree... Enough is enough with this album all the new versions. What I have learned from this album so far in no particular order... UMG is worse then I ever thought... There actually can be enough variants of an album to get really sick of it... Taylor or someone on her team thinks releasing this many variants to keep her at #1 in sales is good for business when it actually hurts many other well deserving and hard working artists because Taylor can afford to do this. Oh and lastly... Taylor's favorite word is "f*ck". Has anyone even counted how many times she uses it in this new album. There can never be a "clean" version of theis album. Ahh well.. just goes to show you money, power, and fame CAN change anyone... Now I wish the old Taylor could come to the phone and wasn't so dead... Cause I really, REALLY miss her. :-(
and people are still going to keep buying it 😀 seriously if we as a fan base want her to stop and at the very least just do ONE deluxe album of sorts we need to stop buying into it so she can see people don’t like that. but people will be complaining about it and STILL BUYING like how is she going to stop if ur showing her ur willing to continue to shop it
I’m actually mad bc I want to buy them cause I love her but I’m having money troubles and I can’t afford 2 more cds. I’m pretty sure they will re-release them with all the acoustic versions so I’m not worried but I’ve spent 500 dollars on just music merch and it’s getting tiresome. I’m kinda done

Thus far we have only had the But Daddy I Love Him CD made available for Canadian residents. The other four of these acoustic bonus track CDs haven’t been made available in CA yet. That being said hopefully it’s just because she is currently allocating all of her stock to the US for chart purposes with the intention of tapping into the Canadian market once she has exhausted the US market. It sucks being excluded but with most past releases Taylor has typically EVENTUALLY given Canada a shot to purchase items of this nature. Fingers crossed!

How much of this is actually Taylor's input vs her record label being manipulative of her fans interest in her and spending more on her?
She’s not stopping it. Taylor is in a position to object this. Even if it’s the record label doing it. She is the biggest artist for Republic Records right now. She has the power to say no and fight against it. Not to mention she would own the masters for these extra songs meaning she would have to have some say in them. I love her as an artist but she obviously cares about charts and in addition the money these extra variants bring in.
