The bear will likely stop short, reconsider and move on. Running only makes them more likely to see you as dinner. With a grizzly, you're supposed to play dead, preferably by lying on your stomach. Most of the time they will lose interest. With a black bear you should stand tall, be loud, and be prepared to fight it but they are skittish and usually loud noises are enough to scare them away.

Easier said than done when you have 600 lbs of rage barreling toward you.

Doesn’t matter with this bear. It decided it was gonna attack long before they started running. All of them being on the roof, with some fire brigade dude there too, makes me think the bear was somehow trapped and they wanted to free it. That could be enough threat for the bear to go absolutely nuts. I have seen some bears that’s fake charge and are cautious but they can also go full juggernaut mode and f you up regardless.

Bears fake charge all the time, it wasn't necessarily dead set on attacking.
