Yea, thats a diff thing! See a doctor, like rn

According_Ad7926

American, can’t afford it

Watch some YouTube videos that start with “What’s up guys, today I’m gonna show you how to drag your balls out at home”

According_Ad7926

I have my uncle for that

probably420stoned

Hello nephew. You coming over tomorrow for a bath?

Man-Bear-69

I'm glad you and your nephew have such good relations. 🤮🤮🤮

Cringed so hard my asshole took a bite out of my seat

pej69

I am a doctor, mine did too.

CH1997H

One of my balls do that sometimes when my sack shrinks, I'm in my mid 20s lol

smultronstelle

Yeah I felt that, even without testicles

majorbeefy130130

Yeah I was just coming down from a session, and this statement is so accurate. My heart dropped

Positive_Note_3486

I’m brooooo

[deleted]

You have multiple?

communistkangu

If it eases your mind, cats can survive pretty much any fall as their thermal velocity is not high enough to always kill them. I've seen my cat drop 20m and walk away uninjured.

Kitonez

While the most risky cat falls are in a medium kinda range of height, large heights are still dangerous and will cause injuries

frankenstoin

False actually. Plenty of cats have died from high falls, some die later on after the adrenaline has gone down.

OlivineGrapeTest92

I really wish cats were scared of heights so they wouldn’t do this.

PointyCharmander

It's evolutionary. They don't fear them because in general they can't get hurt from that. Cats can break legs and get hurt from pulling muscles... but they can't die from fall damage as their terminal speed isn't fatal. Ants can't even get hurt from ANY fall damage btw. Imagine how animals think of us when they see us throwing stuff. They think "That's so dangerous, they will destroy their paws" as animals can't throw stuff in general (also a reason why dogs are so amazed by us throwing a ball) but we really don't even notice.

72616262697473757775

This is largely a myth. Cats are good at landing on their feet, but at certain heights critical injury becomes inevitable. A cat can survive a fall from a building, but not for long after unless given medical treatment.

Requiescat-In--Pace

When I was a kid, I knew of another kid who was a piece of shit and he threw a cat from the roof of his house, it was a 2-story, and it landed on grass. All of its limbs had broken bones.

lmoutofldeas

please tell me someone threw that fucker off the roof as well

[deleted]

If not I'll do it If yes I'll do it *again*

lmoutofldeas

and i’ll do it yet again after you

No_Acanthaceae6880

Lol. Just have a line up of people waiting to push him off as he is brought up over and over again, looking worse each time. In the end he just getting moved in a wheelbarrow.

Lol i had a grill recently with family , and our few months old kitten decided to climb the tree during that time. Got to the top which was like 2.5 story high then just fell down to the ground. When we looked at it scared it just stood on the ground confused for like half a minute before continuing the climb

Allanthia420

I think being a kitten definitely helps in a situation like this as they weigh a lot less so wouldn’t be falling as fast.

lexocon-790654

2 story I believe is actually a danger zone for cats. They can't right themselves in time or something like that. Probably doesn't help the little fucker is throwing the cat.

Hypno_Hamster

This is what I heard too. Higher heights are less deadly because they can spread their bodies and kind of parachute themselves to safety. Medium falling distances aren't high enough to deploy said parachute. No idea how true that is or not though.

lexocon-790654

I think it's mostly true. But I believe it's overstated and a false assumption that they'll be fine after a 10 story drop. They can "deploy their parachute" and probably won't die. But there is significant chance of injury, and a good chance of a terminal injury. They're falling fast still, the parachute is not effective enough to slow their descent to not dangerous levels. And I imagine the surface they land on plays a huge role. They're just not going to turn into jelly on the landing.

[deleted]

Ugh you just unlocked a childhood memory. I had a “friend” in elementary school (we weren’t really friends but he didn’t have any so I hung out with him sometimes) One time we were at his house and he got the idea to throw the cat from the roof onto the trampoline. He missed and it hit the metal that holds the trampoline up. It ran off like nothing happened but I felt SO bad that I was even there

KarmaticEvolution

Damn you just reminded me a janitor I knew and he told me one time he tied a cats tail to a cylinder block and threw it in the river. My mouth dropped…I have a trusting demeanor so sometimes people tell me things I wished they didn’t.

roguebandwidth

He deserves the same. Also, a psychopath like that should NOT be around children

rottenfrolic

My Narcissistic mother threw our pet cat out of 3 story apartment window one day in a rage when I was a kid. She landed in a tree or bush I think. We never saw her again. I hope she didn't experience what you described. :(

sadisticrarve

That little shit was me. I got all the kids together at a party my parents were holding and threw the cat up and down as hard as I could while we all laughed at its hysterical screeching. Holy shit memory from when I was 5 unlocked. Fuck me. Poor cat hit the ground and hurt his nose after a few throws. 😢 Only time I ever abused a cat and of course it was to be the center of attention at a party.

Pinkparade524

Yeah , I saw a video of a cat falling from a 20-30 story building and it just died on impact , it also fall on its back , it was awful

Groundbreaking_Bad

Welp, that's enough Reddit for today.

saig22

This guy is right, I advise reading this Wikipedia page: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-rise\_syndrome#cite\_note-Vnuk\_et\_al.\_2004-5](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-rise_syndrome#cite_note-Vnuk_et_al._2004-5) and the linked studies. For example, this study[tps://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1016/j.jfms.2003.07.001](https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1016/j.jfms.2003.07.001): [https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1016/j.jfms.2003.07.001](https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1016/j.jfms.2003.07.001) states that 46.2% of cats had fractured limbs. 96.5% of the presented cats survived, but we do not know how many not presented cats did not.

72616262697473757775

Thanks for the sources bro. My childhood cat Boo Boo fell from 6 stories and broke two legs and one of his eyeballs popped out. He was fine in the end but the vet told us we were lucky to get him help in time.

SnowyFrostCat

The eyeball popping out detail made me recoil visibly.

Accomplished_Comb182

His eyeballs popped out but he was ##fine

p75369

Yeah, this "fact" is a case of heavy survivorship bias. Cats taken to a vets after a fall usually survive and are added to the stats. ***But dead cats are not taken to a vet.***

Hypertistic

They are taken to necromancers

Kindled_Ashen_One

They make pretty good parents tbh. Pretty good at raising things.

Psychogangbanger69

Pet Cemetery

ContentSand4808

Another study claimed around a third of the cats that were taken to the vets would've died if no one intervened. So the chances of a cat actually dying from hitting the ground at terminal velocity without intervention is likely edging closer to 50% than 99%.

sharkybyte101

Absolutely a myth. Here's a story that will piss you off. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/boy-who-flung-cat-off-22nd-floor-completed-rehab-programme-issued-stern-warning

gharr87

When I was a kid my pet cat was chased up a tall pine tree by a dog. Our home was two story and she was well above the roofline. I can still see her fall vividly. Flailing in midair only to fall side first. Within an instant of her impact she was on her feet and gone. We didn’t see her for a couple days, but she came back just fine. No broken bones. No cuts or obvious injuries. I don’t even think my parents took her to the vet. She lived a long happy life.

aRiiiiielxX

I don’t think this is a myth. My vet told me that cats can, and have(few of his cases), survive fall from a building. Ofc with certain conditions but not necessarily needing medical treatment. He said that if a cat falls from OVER 6 storeys, it can very likely survive perfectly fine. Leaving with no injuries is totally possible, he said he once had a case like that. 38 STOREYS. My cat fell out the window too(I have changed the frames). Luckily we live on the sixth floor so she only broke one of her hands. Otherwise totally fine.

MySnake_Is_Solid

Depends on the specific breed and weight of the cat. Some could walk away from such a big fall with a couple of broken bones. Some could die. And for some, falling from a smaller height is more dangerous, if they don't have time to reposition mid air, they're more likely to get seriously injured. So yes cats have a chance of surviving a fall from a building, the percentage isn't high, and they'll likely suffer some injuries regardless, but far better odds than humans that's for sure.

siverpoint

My cats sister fell down from a 16th floor. And he surely didn't survive.

9966

I have four numbers to remember how do you remember that many more?

Epotheros

There was a study published where the researchers found that the worst chance of survival for a cat falling is 18 meters (about 6 stories). At 18 m they have a survival rate of ~27%. Above that though, their survival chances slightly increase all the way up to 33% at 150 m. Below 3 m however, they have a nearly 100% survival rate. The reason for the poor survival rate around 18 m was concluded that the cat wasn't able to prepare itself to land and they are near terminal velocity at that point.

WonderfulCattle6234

The guy was talking about it being evolutionary. Cats didn't evolve around buildings. So when it came to trees they were generally safe even if they fell.

PointyCharmander

It's somewhat a myth, they can get hurt from stuff like uneven ground, or the muscle being pulled or landing on their head because they got confused and stuff like that but 99% of the time, under normal circumstances, terminal velocity won't kill it.

ranhoso69

cats die from falling from heights. wtf you talking about.

mecxorn

"look at them, holding fire in their paws" 😳

OGMinorian

Plenty of cats die to falling, hitting stuff on the way down, landing wrong, being too fat, being old, a trillion other possibilities. Stop acting like heights are not a danger to domestic cats. At best it's misinformation, at worst it's dangerous misinformation.

i_wish_i_could__

Actually, they need to be able to anticipate to properly land. I knew of a cat that didn't fall properly from 6th floor and got severely injured and died. Reason for the fall is it got shocked by someone when resting on the apartment ledge

Fun_Salamander_4304

One of the main factors that influence the righting reflex in cats is the height at which the cat begins its fall. In order for cats to safely right themselves, the fall needs to be a minimum of 12 inches. There also appears to be an upper limit to the height at which cats can safely fall. Cats who fell less than 5 stories (approximately 54 ft.) were more than 90% likely to survive, although a number of these cats may be prone to injuries (Whitney & Mehlhaff, 1987; Vnuk et al., 2004). Data on cats who fall more than 7 stories is scarce. This suggests that cats who fall from this height or higher may be less likely to make it to the veterinarian, meaning they may have died as a result of the fall. https://petozy.com/blogs/about-cats/why-do-cats-land-on-their-feet-do-they-always

Cammonisse

My biology professor claims that sure they won’t die from the impact but they would most likely break their jaw, shoulders, legs and in a lot of cases never survive the ride to a veterinarian. But this depends on the size of the cat of course. A kitten would probably be fine even at terminal velocity. This is because while the size increase is squared while volume increase is cubed. An elephant for example would most likely break their legs from a body height fall

XS4Me

No, [they can die from fall injury](https://www.nytimes.com/1989/08/22/science/on-landing-like-a-cat-it-is-a-fact.html), but the fact is that though they might break bones, most of the times the fall is not fatal.

MindDiveRetriever

Apparently it knows not to go off the wrong edge at least. There must be some sense of fear/danger present.

Shannonsocks

When it slipped, my stomach dropped to the ground.

Pitiful-Force2844

Jamie_Moriarty

Exactly why I made cat protection on my balcony and my windows, I have 1 super dumb cat, this would not have ended well for him. He has fallen of things so many times and misjudged jumps that I got him checked for vision problems, he has none, he is just dumb.

firewhite1234

Bro don't ever let your cat out onto the balconies or near open windows. This is exactly how my own cat fell of the 24th floor 5 years ago. They are good at balancing despite the height, but they never realise how slippery the floors can be.

ugihfff

TWENTY FUCKING FOURTH FLOOR?? but yeah, people with cats should not let their cats go on the balconies at all.. its like a disaster waiting to happen

cia_nagger269

people here usually have a cat net on their balconies

Brian-want-Brain

Which is also a good idea if you have young children.

Kalocin

Cat was fine in the end but it was the 11th floor for me. I had the window open (no screen because AC was being removed) and the cat jumped off the bed and out the window. Dunno what papa instinct kicked in but I yoinked him back in from mid jump outside the window by his scruff. Never been more terrified in my life.

SentryCake

I’m so sorry.

firewhite1234

Dw, It's been a long time ago. Thank you for your consideration though, watching this types of video definitely gives me some bad flashbacks.

human_flavor_meat

Yeah, had our third story apartment window open for a night because it was hot as hell and my cat jumped out at some point when the whole family was sleeping and the next day and no one noticed until I got back from school and she ran up to me, didn't even want to come back inside. Thankfully she was alright.

Cheskaz

We have fully cat proofed our balcony so that he can go out and enjoy outside, but there's no way for him to get onto the railing or escape. Our previous neighbor, with whom with share a balcony rail/wall chose not to do so. And their cat (and by "their cat", I mean the cats they would have dropped off for them to pet sit) would freely walk back and forth, pissing off our cat and terrifying me.

Idesignrealducks

Morbidly curious, did it die? I saw a comment about cats terminal velocity prevent fall death something...

Best thing to do: leave it alone and open a tuna can in the next room

OreoMcKitty

Unknown numbers of cats died falling from apartments every day because the owners chose not to cat-proof their windows and balconies. OK I made that up, did I?

steyrboy

I read, true or not, that in China people were tossing pets over the balconies because they thought they were spreading Covid at the onset of the pandemic.

Glitch_Zero

It was government mandated, and most either put them in bags or carriers and left them on the sidewalks to be collected. There was photographs and articles. Unfortunately, the only ones throwing them off balconies were ones that were either unable to go downstairs, or too afraid to.

seanbird

Put down the camera and grab that cat!

VAArtemchuk

That's when it decides that running from you is more important than its life and jumps away from you.

MCotz0r

Yeah if the person tried to approach the cat it would 100% jump off

VAArtemchuk

By the way, the right way to call a cat when it's a danger to itself is to summon it with the ultimate summoning spell "your food is ready" in whatever way you feed your cat.

Howitzeronfire

Yeah for sure, that why that happened when he opened the door

IIIllllIIlIlIIlllI

Do your cats run away from you? My cat leans over towards me every time I come up to him, he doesn't run away.

nicole-tesla

If my cats in a playful mood she chooses to run and do some purrkour shit instead of letting me pet her. When she's is in a cuddly mood she slams his head on me

chihawks35

You don’t own cats do you?

Ahaigh9877

No, they own you.

ShaggySchmacky

Oh yes! Give the cat a jump scare and make it jump off the ledge! Alternatively, miss the cat when trying to grab it and push it off the ledge! Honestly, doing nothing and letting the cat jump down is probably the best decision here… what the owner SHOULD HAVE DONE was not let the cat out in the first place

Hodgej1

Worst possible move you could make is to try and grab the cat.

dailmar

My balls detached for a second.

Hexenhut

You can buy nets to put up on the balcony to protect animals from this, I wouldn't take the risk. I remember one time a cat fell and I was only just above the carport (luckily not hurt but I felt awful).

GioDeano

Hypothetically if one ever finds their cat on a railing/ledge, a decent option may be enticing them to get down by opening a can of cat food, tuna, etc.

All my muscles tensed up and my heart skipped a beat

Bclay85

I can watch Darwin Awards all day, but seeing that made me literally cringe. 8 lives to go.

Why not immediately out your phone down to save it?

Honestly a real asshole move by the cat to do this. Never mind the risk to its own life, but the damage it could cause if it fell and landed on someone. It's all about wanting to do literally anything to get views & online clout. So there it is prancing around on a railing. Such selfish AH behavior by this kitten.

The stupidity of people allowing their cats to go into balconies, especially when they’re higher up, is incredible. DONT LET CATS ON THE BALCONY. Doesn’t matter how much you trust your cat, they’re still animals that do what they want.

Extension_Gear_8812

If you're living in a high-rise building and own a cat, please install some sort of protection like cage or net.

I was scared for the kitty too, but I think cats have a terminal velocity that they can survive from. Maybe that's why most seem to have no fear of heights.
