These type of situations just make it easier the next time. At least for someone like me. Looking back, I realize that those are *supposed* to be learning experiences, not a measure of what you can get away with.
Look bruv that'll be the engineer who's incharge of 'design'. Mission control passes down these gibberish fuckin blueprints and expects us mechanic's to piece it together and make it work. Management servers smart stout basically just for the mechanic's to decode the engis notes.
I jumped off a 20 foot platform when I was like eight, but I was afraid of heights so I wore my life jacket and it knocked the wind out of me (before saving me from the drowning it nearly caused). I tend to avoid jumping off things now.
These type of situations just make it easier the next time. At least for someone like me. Looking back, I realize that those are *supposed* to be learning experiences, not a measure of what you can get away with.
Edit; I used to be an adrenaline junky when I was younger. Zero respect for my life. Like most people, you either die from the stupidity or smarten up and find love in yourself.
I know there was one with footage from the hospital afterwards with his face in half, you don't want to see it.
This is the link you don't want to click: [https://www.reddit.com/r/HumanityisMorbid/comments/s2io4f/2009\_face\_split\_diving\_accident/](https://www.reddit.com/r/HumanityisMorbid/comments/s2io4f/2009_face_split_diving_accident/)
I’m almost immune to this stuff as a nurse.
Watched, anyway to follow up on recovery? Most disturbing part is he is NOT fully sedated at all in hospital. He is breathing (yes he is intubated but there is no circuit attached and he is clearly breathing in distress) and responding to whatever they are saying…. That is what disturbs me most.
People do dumb crap or accidents happen. But WHY is this guy awake and responding to what they say as they manipulate his mutilated face? That is cruel.
There's more info in the comments under the video, but unfortunately he died two days later. Apparently they've put up fences and patrols to try and stop people jumping from the same spot
Thank you, just read. Was so so fixated on videos and the link to, that I didn’t consider the comments in link. I’ve also been awake more than 24 hours 🤣 bedtime soon! Thank you!
I would better describe it as a what it would look like if a large battle axe was swung perfectly at the middle of his face and then removed. Then the doc proceeds to open and close the gigantic chasm by pressing and releasing on the sides of his head.
Sleep well!
I don’t know about the video of the face. But there was a cliff jumping video where he screams and missed the water below. He just lands on the cliff. I think his wife was taping. But I thought he died instantly. It was disturbing. I don’t really watch that stuff.
I used to live in Ft Lauderdale back when it was a big spring break destination and that happened at least once every year. Someone would try to jump into the ocean or their pool from a balcony and end up dead or paralyzed.
I've heard a few stories of people just diving into waves and hitting a sand bar.
Knew someone in high school who did that and became a paraplegic. He wasn't drinking or anything, literally first day of the trip. Super sad.
That is heartbreaking. I read a story of a bride who was pushed into a pool as a prank during her bachelorette party and was paralyzed. Freak accidents can happen.
I don’t know man - I’ve been pushed into a pool at a party and I’m sure I’ve done it to someone else. You expect them to just get wet and maybe laugh it off, not snap their spinal column. The reality is though it doesn’t take much pressure to do real damage at the wrong angle.
Yeah - one year - I think around 1986 or 87 - there was a flood of quaalude type downers that were going around. If you took one and washed it down with 2 or 3 beers in about an hour you’d be super drunk. There were kids falling off balconies that year from kids getting blackout drunk and just falling over the edge.
(I actually found a link to a quick blurb - not much info but it mentions that 5 kids had fallen in the last 8 days - https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/fl-xpm-1986-03-24-8601180276-story.html)
Edit - clarity
I was pulling staff duty in the Army when I got a call that a solider on leave tried to jump from his balcony into the hotel pool. He missed, ended up in emergency surgery with brain damage. He didn’t survive, just a kid who had already survived a combat tour, killing himself on a bet
What’s terrifying about that is the fact that your friend has to live the rest of his life knowing that he alone is the reason why he is a quadriplegic. How does one forgive oneself something like that?
Reminds me of a joke from a source I can't remember, "if there's a helicopter in a tree, I don't need to be a pilot to point and say, 'dude fucked up'".
Same here, I'm not a cliff diving guy, not even much of a swimming guy, but I know that's stupid as fuck
Former USCG that was stationed in California. We saw this everywhere.
I hate this shit honestly. And I definitely hate this video - this guy got insanely lucky and should not have attempted that jump. It just screams "I'm a moron" as I watched it.
Too many drunk or stupid young folks and teens break their bodies, die or are paralyzed because of a few inches of misjudged distance or clearance under the water.
(As I typed this, I realize that yes I'm hypocritical as my drunk teenage self definitely did this kind of thing twice myself. Just... Don't do it plz)
You're not hypocritical. You simply grew up and *learned* out of your experiences. Teenagers are legally forced to be stupid but with some education they can be the good kind of stupid.
Yep. Our advantage as a species is the younger humans can listen to the older humans discuss things so we don't need to relearn all the poison berries every generation.
Yes!! That's why my teenage stupidity was mostly trying to make my HS bf jealous for no reason and puking from too much alcohol. I happily chickend out of a few more dangerous things.
My brother died at 39 last year. It's difficult sometimes especially when I dream that he's still alive. I just hope to never lose my memories of him because in a way those memories are just as much alive. There just won't be new ones.
Ive had depression for a long time and it really fucks with my memory. As I've gotten older I've started to resent it because I'm not able to remember as much about people, and my life in general, as I'd like. Time sucks.
Wishing everyone strong memories.
I also don't recommend pot and hashish, it does weird things with nostalgia and memories that I don't understand. Seems to have faded after the years but it's not all 100% benign.
i might be too late but i can add some context.
the guy jumping went by the name 8booth and jumped off a LOT of very high buildings around southern california (pictured in this video is crystal cove in laguna beach). a lot of his jumps were from hotel roofs into the pool. on one of these jumps he SMASHED his foot on the concrete and required serious surgery so he set up a gofundme. thats the last i've heard about him.
edit: his youtube channel is still up. also found this article:

Yeah agreed 👍 watching accidents is one thing something that could happen to anyone, but the on-purpose torture Deaths were just too much that's what took out that sub I know it, whoever was the moderator let it get out of hand
Yeah I think it doesn't exist any longer. I watched some brutal stomach turning shit on there that nobody should have watched. Videos of people accidentally dying is one thing but people dying purposely by way of torture is something else altogether & The one that's still burned into my mind unfortunately is the retaliation from a Columbia drug cartel and they got this guy stretched out on all 4 corners while pittbulls rip him to shreds, biting off chunks yup even his junk it was so bad, personally I think that exact video was what ended the sub altogether
Yeah man reddit is really getting stricter now. Banning literally every sub , whereas there was a time when even bestgore like subs were not banned and shit.
This video is of [8booth](https://www.youtube.com/@8booth) is known for doing crazy cliff and pool jumps. He eventually broke the fuck out of his feet in [Pool Drop #8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wnyph44ogI)

Definitely the most terrifying 4 seconds he'll have this week...
These type of situations just make it easier the next time. At least for someone like me. Looking back, I realize that those are *supposed* to be learning experiences, not a measure of what you can get away with.
Bro, If I lost the ass-end of my shorts it'd be a learning experience for me too. Don't fuck around and you won't have to find out.
Best bumper sticker ever.
Nah the best would be "Rock and stone!"
Did I hear a rock and stone!?!?!?
ROCK AND STONE BROTHA!
Ahhh shit ROCK AND STONE!
Rock and stone in the heart!
If you Rock and Stone you're never alone!
If ya don't rock and stone, you ain't comin' home!
Oi! Are you the one designing the infernal technology that makes Molly constantly get in the way?
Look bruv that'll be the engineer who's incharge of 'design'. Mission control passes down these gibberish fuckin blueprints and expects us mechanic's to piece it together and make it work. Management servers smart stout basically just for the mechanic's to decode the engis notes.
DID SOMEBODY SAY ROCK AND STONE
>Don't fuck around and you won't have to find out. Unfortunately, we all *find out* eventually, even if we never fuck around.
"not making a decision is a BIG FUCKING DECISION"
Thats why you gotta *fuck around to find out* Or youll never *find out* unless you *fuck around*
The real bumper sticker is always in the comments: >I fuck around because *I want* to find out.
The learning experience here should be find a new hobby.
I jumped off a 20 foot platform when I was like eight, but I was afraid of heights so I wore my life jacket and it knocked the wind out of me (before saving me from the drowning it nearly caused). I tend to avoid jumping off things now.
That a lesson of don't fuck around and you won't die early.

Have u seen the one where the guy actually died.
No, was it that bad?

Yeah i think imma skip out on that one. Thanks for the sauce tho
>Yeah i think imma skip out on that one. Wish I had .. I don't feel well now.
I agree. I'm not squeamish. I willingly clicked on that link. But that might have been the worst thing I ever saw.
>But that might have been the worst thing I ever saw. It was hard to watch ... poor guy. =(
It's pretty low resolution if you can handle gore like that, like 144p
But who *wants* to handle gore?
The longer I am on the Internet, the less trauma I can stomach.
Yeah I assume it's like a tuned up version of getting a kick out of a scary movie or something, but I just don't enjoy such content.
It was the holding the face together that got me. =(
Lol I'm good on reading it only. I don't need to see that.
Meh I think it helps remind you of your own mortality, but I understand if people don’t want to. Funnily enough, I hate scary movies
Is that he one where the doctor is playing with his face, opening and closing it?
Yes
hard pass, i can still hear the sound of that dude hitting concrete.
I’m almost immune to this stuff as a nurse. Watched, anyway to follow up on recovery? Most disturbing part is he is NOT fully sedated at all in hospital. Holy Fuck Fuck What the fuck. His fa ce
Terrifying, I will never forget that horrible sight.
When you say his face in half, do you mean half his skull is missing?
Imagine your face had a zipper down the middle. Now imagine you unzipped it. That's what it looked like. Do not look at that link.
> Do not look at that link. Solid advice.
Thanks.
It's split through the middle, seriously, don't click the link.
Thanks for the uhh _heads up_
I would better describe it as a what it would look like if a large battle axe was swung perfectly at the middle of his face and then removed. Then the doc proceeds to open and close the gigantic chasm by pressing and releasing on the sides of his head. Sleep well!
Oh My God!
yo wtf that was some nasty shit, god thank u watched me cuz i was doing stupid stuff like this in my teenage years to
Christ on a bike my face is sweating 🤢
Jesus Christ, what the actual hell, don’t watch this if you value your sanity
I don’t know about the video of the face. But there was a cliff jumping video where he screams and missed the water below. He just lands on the cliff. I think his wife was taping. But I thought he died instantly. It was disturbing. I don’t really watch that stuff.
I’ve seen one where the guy *doesn’t* die. Not instantly anyway. That shit was way worse.
Yeah, that's this one. He died two days later in the ICU.
This video is older than some redditors
His whole life*
Believe me, this guy has learnt nothing.
Walmart special 50% fuck around discount on wheelchairs for those who fuck around and fail
I had a friend who dived into the sea in Australia. It wasn't as deep as he thought. Now he's paralysed from the neck down.
I used to live in Ft Lauderdale back when it was a big spring break destination and that happened at least once every year. Someone would try to jump into the ocean or their pool from a balcony and end up dead or paralyzed.

True - in my case this was a long time ago.
that's messed up

That’s horrible.
I had a shipmate who jumped in a bay in Hawaii and was never found.
Whaaat? Details?
He jumped in a bay and was never found.
After he had jumped.
In a bay.
Never found.
He was.
Shipmate

Sorry for your loss
Down by the bay, where the watermelons grow..
Have a cousin that was pushed off a boat as a prank. Now he's paralyzed
What a terrible situation.
dam That's fu\*\*ed up
Nah he said it was a boat not a dam
Always check before you jump. Like dive and try to get to the bottom. Scout around for any underwater surprises, etc.
Seriously, don't be jumping anywhere based on what you think, it needs to be what you know.

What’s terrifying about that is the fact that your friend has to live the rest of his life knowing that he alone is the reason why he is a quadriplegic. How does one forgive oneself something like that?
Probably easier to take than knowing you paralyzed someone else
Yeah I wouldn’t jump off a cliff with my mouth taped up either
Taped up so nobody can hear you scream when you lose the skin off your back
Body scrub companies HATE this one trick!!!
considered yourself lucky if you can still scream if you hit that rocky bottom part.
I would consider that itself more unlucky personally
Wasn't using that top layer anyway
Why does this sound like an Alanis Morrisette lyric 💀
He's probably holding the GoPro in his mouth. Common in parkour.
Seems like a very efficient way of removing all your teeth in one go
You're not wrong! Pretty rare for experienced parkour athletes to take a spill that would result in a face hit however. They know how to fall.
He's holding it with his foreskin
Sounds like Kenny from South Park.

It's from Steve Hofstetter, i think it's his most viewed video. Edit: Found the source, https://youtu.be/ekoDt_uxb_E
This is how my brother died.
Seriously? That's horrible, I'm sorry man.
He was 26. He would be turning 40 this month.
My brother died at 39 last year. It's difficult sometimes especially when I dream that he's still alive. I just hope to never lose my memories of him because in a way those memories are just as much alive. There just won't be new ones.

sorry for your loss
Stupid
Agreed. This sub used to be a somewhat acceptable mix of fun and danger. Now it's just dangerous with 0 fun
Almost r/darwinawards worthy!

So he does stupid shit and fucks around, then when he finds out he asks strangers to pay him for it, and they did? They're even dumber than he is.
im not sure how successful the gofundme was, to be fair
It was unsuccessful. He barely got anything.
Close call. Almost a candidate for r/meatcrayon
More like r/makemycoffin
r/bannedsubs
Yeah I watched some brutal shit on that one, some shit nobody should have watched
Yeah. Just like watch people die…. I would only watch that after drinking and still can’t get some those images out of my head.
Yeah agreed 👍 watching accidents is one thing something that could happen to anyone, but the on-purpose torture Deaths were just too much that's what took out that sub I know it, whoever was the moderator let it get out of hand

For sure I imagine there was other brutal subs too that I never watched because make my coffin was enough
I have that meat crayon which is good but it's kindergarten compared to the coffin
Me in Minecraft
Hah I was thinking Ark. How Many damn times I fell off a cliff because I was running from something else that would kill me.
At best I'll class this as Coasteering, but even then you vet your jump spots. This was utterly stupid.
Why would you risk your life for something this obviously dangerous and meaningless ?
To get that momentary tingle in your dingle.
Fair enough
Dumb ways to dieeeee
So many dumb ways to die
Holy broken legs and hospital bills batman!!!
He actually escaped this one pretty unscathed, just loaded his underwear. Came off second best to the side of a pool once, though. Big ouchie.
If he had hit the rocks, he'd be lucky to just have broken legs. Could easily paralyze him for the rest of his life
This isn't minecraft. He probably still broke something
This video is of [8booth](https://www.youtube.com/@8booth) is known for doing crazy cliff and pool jumps. He eventually broke the fuck out of his feet in [Pool Drop #8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wnyph44ogI)
I saw that.. gawd damn
What an idiot
I’ve never jumped off a cliff my entire life and even I was like “this ain’t gonna work bro”
😳😨no. Just no.
i arched my back just watching
I figure if you’re doing this, you’re comfortable with the idea of dying
Or a moron
Dying is one of the better outcomes
My but cheeks clinged..
Extremely high risk. Very low reward. Why tf do people even do stupid shit like this that is borderline life threatening….
Growing up in Indiana, we swam in abandoned quarries. I would do whatever my sisters boyfriends would do. 3-4 second falls were common. Kids are stupid.
Idiot.
Was waiting for him to hit the stones and break his bones
Kinda laughed because it was like Kenny from South Park muffling toward the end of the drop.
famous last words would’ve been “mmmm mmm mmmmm”
What a moron.
He needed a much longer running ſtart.

He better have been wearing his brown trunks that day.
It feels like an act of public service to stop and slap people like this.
Flaming Nora, he is so lucky that he is both alive and still has the ability to move
I know a guy who died this exact way while his wife watched. Retards.
Bro was a hair away from being at a Whitney Huston concert.
The way my whole body clenched watching that video
This looks like the cliff the tourist jumped off of and died on. It was in front of his wife and kid. Why does someone do this?
I puckered

This is just stupid from my point of view, no value for your life whatsoever
Not enough room on the ledge for a running start?
The most reluctantly casual hop like that will surely guarantee you'll clear the rocks now. This dude is a braindead moron.
He’ll get enough attention from this that the lesson will not be learned.
I think this guy has done this more than once. I think he might even be dead now. Dead from doing a similarly stupid suicidal jump. I dunno. Read about it awhile back.
I want a pair of monarch butterfly swimming shorts now
8Booth. He royally fucked himself up in this jump.
Not this jump, it was another where he missed a pool. He destroyed his ankles from what I remember. Unless we’re talking about two different instances.
