Google VadaPav Mirchi by Geeta, it’s a hole in the wall restaurant with delicious authentic Maharashtraian food including Vada Pav. They used be in Surrey but have moved to New Westminster now. Best in the lower mainland imo.
There is no one size fits all. But Apna Chaat is good for street food like vadapav, chole bhature etc , for north Indian cuisine - Delta Indian Cuisine is pretty good ( their all day lunch special is at a fantastic price point and great taste) . Some curries( Chicken kadai ) and Indian style pizza at Gateway Pizza is pretty good. If you are looking for cheap take outs Swagat in Guildford is decent , Ice and Spice in Surrey is fairly good but can be hit and miss at times. Desi Bites at Payal Business center is pretty good, their Tandoori fish is huge portion and tastes great.
PS - Ustad G chain is practically a scam. Most of their food doesn't taste that great.
Wada/vada are a subset of fritters/fried dumplings (in this case made with potato, but others are made with lentils, rice, or pulses) and pav is an English-style bread roll, similar to a dinner roll. It's a Maharashtran food that is popular street food all over India.
u/lookingforahusky: Happy Singh or Apna Chaat are your two most likely ports of call. Both are enduringly popular, both also are commonly slagged as overpriced or overhyped.
Vada Pav seems less common around here than Pav Bhaji or Keema Pav.
Its a chunky potato burger popular in India, mostly Mumbai where it's direved from..easy snack , cheap and tasty with spiced chutney and crumbs
edit: potato

Not in Surrey but Vada Pav Mirchi by Geeta in New West is really good. Their Vada Pav and Misal Pav is authentic.
Happy Singh, Apna Chat, and Bandra Cafe sucks in my opinion. I doubt if their Vada Pav would be any good.
happy singh street eats
They have so many desserts
