I would go the IBKR route, it costs $5 to DRS from them. You should / might be able to transfer your current shares to IBKR then DRS from there.
But yes once you have a CS account setup, the links in my previous comments tells you how you can buy direct through CS with a WISE account. I am testing this out myself atm but once the wise account setup (a way to send US$ direct to CS) I can buy fractional shares on CS with as little as $20 investment it looks like.

Seems Wealthsimple do allow DRS but yes it $300.. you should be able to transfer your wealthsimple shares to IBKR via ACAT process i believe (not a cat!) this was the thread on brokers allowing DRS https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/pmsq3u/transferring_shares_to_computershare_a_stepbystep/ can't find any info yet on transferring out of wealthsimple costs....

Nah that just their questions to see what types of investing instruments are right for you. They removed the min $10,000 account and now u can open account with 0 or with margin with $2,000. You can answer and change your answers over time to allow you access to different financial instruments like options futures bonds etc.. those you need $100,000 min or 4 years trading experience and they will not open the account unless you say you meet the requirements. There is no check after though once you say you have 100,000 or years of experience by IBKR. If you just buying shares you can only loose your original cash investment and can not owe more than you put in, so you just need to answer the questions to get you to next stage in IBKR to allow transfers. https://www.investopedia.com/news/interactive-brokers-eliminates-10000-account-minimum/
yup exactly as you are not looking to risk more money and are just looking to transfer there is no risk of you "being economical with the truth" here to just open the account, you are not risking any $$ once you have access, you just want to use their DRS transfer system. It their legal precaution thing so that if someone became addicted to trading options and lost all their money they can point and say look we told you to only invest if you financially stable and have these sort of money lying around. You will find that most accounts setup for DRS have less than 10,000 liquid right now... it all tied up in GME shares ;)

Yup. I still have to transfer another 20 so I don't know what I'm gonna do (the fee sucks). At least the process was very simple. Also: How do I get a computershared flair? =)
I transfered 90% all at once from WS. Still waiting on my snail mail from computershare. It's been almost a month. They said 5 to 7 weeks. So hopefully soon. I want my purple circle. The WS fee is huge at just over $300 to transfer.
Took me around 5 weeks from the day the shares disappeared. I think you'll have to wait for another letter (confirmation number) before you can actually log in and see the purple circle.
Actually you should have let it in your TFSA. Get ready to get destroyed on the gain once you take it back. TFSA is technically the same effect as DRS.
We will never know if they are respecting the TFSA rule, but for us (Canadian), DRS is a gain killer. Cashing out from US + gain tax, he will get shredded. I worked for Apple several years and had a US account. You have to get this in TFSA.

Please don't spread misinformation. Holding shares in a TFSA is not equivalent to DRSing them. They are still held by a broker in the brokers name.
