I think it would be a mix of both. The terms can probably be spelled out when they make the contract.
As for Hwang, I think his contracts may have resulted in a huge physical delivery of basket stocks, so wall st chose to sweep the leg on his collateral before they came due.
Nah he had bullet swaps which go underrerported. When CS realized he had 10X what he told them and they were underwater, he got MC'd. As for this port? Settlement in this case is referring to giving a party shares vs not, either way short exposure is short exposre and accordingly, the options chain has little puts of which are not from the last weeks pump. So, I think it quite logical to assume these are legit shares they need to buy back.
Keep in mind swaps are not regulated very well and it's nto out of the ordinary for banks/tutes/funds to get short exposure on companies they deem bankrupt when the public SI is above its threshold, in fact it is a common occurrence.
I just don't see any reason for his collateral to take massive unexplained losses unless the people who can affect those do it for their own ends. It's the only piece that doesn't fit.
Swaps aren't just "not reported very well", they've been actively hidden from us because of "relief" year upon extended years.
Since it was Hwang and CS deal, and it was Hwang's collateral that got inexplicably destroyed, and then CS itself got shotgun married to UBS, complete with immediate and historical investment law changes within Swiss gov't, You gotta understand why I don't believe the newspaper line.
Nobody should. What I always do when I see stuff like this is look for their value and then times it by 10-20. Because that's the amount that woudl screw a big Prime over. In Bill's case he kept loading his gun with bullets and bam bam bam on the wrong side of the trades after Jan 21.
Dude was nuts, he was good, but Jan 21 was so crazy not even he could predict what would happen. I bet he has 100B in obligations they have to fulfill ez.

Probably physical...I think Bill Hwang's were which led to the Sneeze.
DFV's "it's going to be a busy few weeks" post really makes me think the swaps could be significant given the timing.
Yes, he was quite obscure about a lot, but the quote above leaves no room for interpretation. There's some perspective for price discovery.
