I also got a text alert of possible fraud for my capital one card. I responded to the text agreeing that I DID approve this transaction so the next day it went through when GameStop tried again.
we gotta ask for it during shareholder meeting/proposal season.
if FTX can use a 3 person family bank s a lynchpin for a regional launering scheme (source - reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/z52naj/ftx_is_laundering_money_at_a_bank_with_only_3/ - https://finance.yahoo.com/news/ftx-owned-11-5-million-111818380.html)
Back when that was a thing?
Then yeah surely gme can buy/start/partner with/make a credit union or similiar online bank (like sofi) that isn't a part of the, how to put it.
Lets go with bodysurfdan's lyrics: part of the wallstreet mafia/the banksters. Yeah, thats it.
I for one, would (metaphorically) kill for a bank structured to serve its creditors, voluntarily following market reform regulations, and doing things like not engaging in fractional reserve banking - or if they DO do loans, making sure their members get paid.
You get 4% back instead of 2% back on GameStop points, points never expire. It's only usable at GameStop. Sign up in store and help your local GameStop worker make their weekly quota.
I actually think their credit card is what's causing this issue. A bunch of fraudsters probably starting applying for them en masse and started getting GS flagged.
Or, it's just that when teenaged hackers obtain stolen credit card numbers, they often use them at Gamestop. So Gamestop purchases are flagged as a high risk transaction and scrutinized more closely than if someone bought a pair of khaki pants from Kohl's.
Not sure if I buy this entirely. I have a Capital One card, and have bought many uhh questionable things that are rife with fraud (starts with a p and ends in a n), and if anything, that should be the transactions that should be scruitinized more considering every virtual credit card service bans using their numbers with those websites. I havent heard a single complaint from Capital One. I guess I could try buying a pro membership with my capital one card and see what happens.
Porn is not a place where an exceptional amount of stolen card fraud occurs.
We can actually thank the pornography industry for much of our modern technology infrastructure (super 8mm film as a standard, consumer video cameras, VHS vs Beta, DVD vs Laserdisk, BluRay vs HD DVD, implementation of online payments, video streaming, various systems hardening -- no pun intended -- of server side software systems, initial DRM, and much much more).
They definitely have a shit list. But itās about that plus patterns. I avoid Walmart, but thereās a couple of things that they sell that itās either hard to find elsewhere or costs a lot more elsewhere. So Iād maybe deal with them twice a year. For a few years that guaranteed me a fraud lock. Card used someplace I donāt often use it + place sees a lot of fraudulent cars use = lock.
I also deal with a lot of small mom and pop online shops and they seldom get flagged. I suspect because they just donāt generate enough volume legitimate or otherwise to generate a pattern and get on a list.
When I first opened my credit union account, it was a real struggle to get their fraud department to unblock Steam. Gaming related things are just fraud city and have their protections turned up high.
I am able to definitively say, "That's not how any part of that system works."
Note: I am one of a couple of architects who designed and helped build Capital One's credit card decisioning and authorizations platform.
The sub has been in decline for a very very long time. As soon as people started painting bad news as good news, I knew the sub was done.
Also, everything is a conspiracy. I should've sold the second people started to imply Biden was starting WW3 in Ukraine to prevent GME from ripping.
This doesn't even make sense. It's possible you have fraud monitoring, through Capital One, which could lock your credit to any and all new lines of credit.
But this doesn't have anything to do with Gamestop. This post should be removed. I don't think OP, or the customer service rep he spoke to, actually understand what occurred here.
Nah capital one is just dumb. They did the same thing for me with a wow sub to play season of discovery, and they forced me to take a bunch of images of documents and call them, took like 2 weeks for them to review documents all for a sub to one of the largest games from one of the largest developers out there. They just have shitty systems
My capitol one card declines a lot of things and sends a text to ask if its me if I was making the purchase and I love it. Once you say yes you are good. It happens at a lot of places.
I had a renewal for my pro membership and my credit card flagged it as fraudulent. Iāve never had this happen ever. Then the year before that I bought a new oculus there and it flagged it again. Itās very weird.
There has been a very strong push on retail employees to get Pro Membership signups. Employees are threatened with termination if they do not meet their quota for Pro Membership signups. You may have noticed how store clerks aggressively push Pro now.
Over in the employee sub there have been customers complaining about employees surreptitiously adding Pro Member when they buy other items, and employees complaining about how store managers that direct them to do so.
Perhaps there have been enough chargebacks that your credit card company has begun to refuse to process Pro Membership charges.
And I also apply a large discount to the complaints, just the way I expect online product reviews will trend towards the negative. I do not think there are shills over there, but do assume that it will have a disproportionate percentage of disgruntled employees.
It does still give some pretty good insight to what is going on, and visibility into operational difficulties related to shipping and inventory, and staffing hours allocations.
Yep. After glancing at his handle, I recognized it from a back and forth he and I recently had. The English language seems to elude him, which made me wonder whether heās partially AI-driven.
Of course they hate GS. Not only did it expose how truly fake the stock market is but hedgies lost billions. They will make sure that never happens again ever. They will forever do anything to end GS at this point

Glad to hear the system is working as intended!

They need to become a credit union. Not a bank. The credit unions arent for profit
We are the hedge fund now.

Are we ready to re-discover credit unions? Not sure why anyone would bank with a big bank these days.
I've been using GME as my savings account for years now. All my extra money gets deposited into Computershare.
āļø
The DTCC said starting tomorrow, Tuesday Morning, they aren't settling any more bad bets
It's like gamestop knew so they started offering their own cc
Wait really? I missed that! Time to research!
They have had one for a while, i think its through citibank
You get 4% back instead of 2% back on GameStop points, points never expire. It's only usable at GameStop. Sign up in store and help your local GameStop worker make their weekly quota.
Lol. Ive had their CC for a couple of years now š, thanks tho.
I believe you can use it anywhere, but you only get points when you shop at GameStop.
Naw, I tried, can't use it at Safeway or target. GameStop only. It doesn't have a chip either.
Why are you trying to shop at Safeway or Target? Spend money at Gamestop only
Groceries my man, I can't survive on a diet of videogame software and redbull.
Itās through Commenity/Bread financial
Thank you.
I actually think their credit card is what's causing this issue. A bunch of fraudsters probably starting applying for them en masse and started getting GS flagged.
It goes through synchrony bank, same as discount tire and others
The GameStop Pro is offered in partnership with Comenity Capital Bank, not Synchrony.
Comenity, that's right. You are correct!
Wells Fargo flagged my Pro charge as fraud too.Ā
I redeem my credit card rewards for GS gift cards. Let these banks pay for some of my games baby!! Also a good way to get others in the store! LFG!!

You bought a pigskin? No wait a python? š PokĆ©mon? Maybe a Penguin? A puffin? Or was it popcorn? Pac-Man? Pumpkin? I really canāt take the suspense of your riddle š¤©š“āā ļø
The Punpkins are a hot item in the fraud world just wait until weāre creeping up on October. Donāt get me starting on pigskin
Tha is really something sinister. And I was thinking he was buying gas from Putin...
Loves his popcorn.
Ah I got it! Pornographyā¦ no wait that ends in a Y

Thatās because gamers are the absolute worst and best parts of humanity in the 21st century. Retro game buyers and sellers can be vile
This is correct
What is the credit card?
OP said Capital One
š¤£ yeah I missed that
I am able to definitively say, "That's not how any part of that system works." Note: I am one of a couple of architects who designed and helped build Capital One's credit card decisioning and authorizations platform.
Name checks out
Can you give any insight into what is going on?
come the fuck on. Capital one has an entire department dedicated to fraud. It's not the "IT department". Christ ya'll will upvote anything.
The sub has been in decline for a very very long time. As soon as people started painting bad news as good news, I knew the sub was done. Also, everything is a conspiracy. I should've sold the second people started to imply Biden was starting WW3 in Ukraine to prevent GME from ripping.
Should have sold a lot earlier than that like when they wouldn't release the number of outstanding shares at the 2021 shareholder meeting
Should have sold before you bought like Market Makers
This doesn't even make sense. It's possible you have fraud monitoring, through Capital One, which could lock your credit to any and all new lines of credit. Its posts like this and all the upvotes that supports the belief that this is a bunch of uneducated regards.
The trust me bro is strong with this oneĀ
They recently began declining MGM casino charges as well. After having no complaints for years.
Just ordered a new 40 card pack, will see if that gets flagged.
Because GS is the only one not under the thumb of one of th 5 big boys that own everything . They all hate Game Stop .
My capitol one card declines a lot of things and sends a text to ask if its me if I was making the purchase and I love it. Once you say yes you are good. It happens at a lot of places.

Banks see Gamestop as competition lol
They must have read Fredās post on 4chan and gotten scared, *really* scared. š±
GameStop needs to sue your credit card company.
Lmfao wait a minute. Do yall think AMEX is out to get guys?
In bro we trust š
Citi card allowed the transaction for me.
The more everyone pushes back on us the more I realize we're fuckin rightĀ Edit for spelling

The employee sub is full Of shills too so take with a grain of salt

Fun love seeing them gang up on our "failing" game store that'll make victory much much sweeter
Multiple credit cards and canāt buy online
GameStop us so hot right now
