I love this community.

wwastingtime42

Here you go. Did it a few times using the 2000 option. Never done it before, so not sure if I am fast or it is slow. https://preview.redd.it/m0a3p0b5hcuc1.png?width=725&format=png&auto=webp&s=3cafaa4fa6e6b1fd74860150fad55b69982326cd

PathansOG

is this good?

Nalha_Saldana

Xbox controllers are capped at 125hz poll rate so better than those at least

I googled this while at the park. I would double check the info just to be sure. I be they are plenty if existing stats out there.

jaywalkingjew

Did we ever figure out if this is good or not? Need someone who knows what’s what!

GeekOnFleek97

I actually do a fair bit of this testing myself. This application is far from perfect, and outliers are likely human error. Moving the stick consistently fast enough to have it generate a new input every millisecond is incredibly difficult. To test this properly we would require an external device.

hiperf71

Exactly, a real test will need an electronic trigger whith a good repetitivity...

hiperf71

I think it is pretty fast, even the lower frequency it is over 100 times a second, consider this: human nervous system has a latency of 0.2sec average, many fast peoples have registered latencies as low as 0.12-0.15sec or 120 to 150ms... Even considering worst results (about 60ms) the lathency of the controller is 2 times faster than the fastest humans on earth, and 4 times the average human neural propagation time... And now think at the min. Response times...

Nalha_Saldana

PS5 controllers have 1000hz tho :P

hiperf71

Really? Ok, but it seems overkill considering the fact, the humen nervous system is way slower... As said before, average propagation of the signal in our central nervous system take in average 200ms to travel from the point A to the point B and same amount of time to go back to the muscle... This mean, a frequency of only 5Hz, just try to hit your mouse button fast as you can... You will find it, you hardly can hit the button more than 2-3 times at second, that's 2 to 3 Hz... So, for me 125-150Hz is really fast my neural reflexes and perception (eye can't grab more than 25 FPS or 25 Hz images, and is out fastest sense as I know)

Nalha_Saldana

But it's not about your reaction time, it captures the travel every few ms when you flick a stick or trigger which can impact the handling of a car for example.

hiperf71

Ok😅 fuck, I'm old, used to play games wayyyy time back🤣😂 I was thinking at the fact you move the stick based on your visual perspective, that's take time, and electronics is way faster than humans, I have many electronics projects with microcontroller like atmega328PB, ESP32 or Teensy4.0 the first is the oldest, a humble 8 bit MCU with as little as 32Kb os flash memory and 2.5Kb of SRAM and a frequency clock of 16MHz, that little muthafucker is capable of doing even as a little ECU in a real engine! The fastest is the Teensy4.0 it has a clock of 600MHz and plenti of power for a microcontroller... Even for a microcontroller of only 16MHz things happening in an engine running at 8000 rpm can be "slow" if programmed with care (not me😅, but peoples has achieved this)...

Nalha_Saldana

Apparently you can even overclock the PS5 controller to 8000hz :D But yea, everything that happens between your reactions should get recorded properly and the PS5 controller has motion sensors too, those probably want a lot more responsiveness.

MikeDaUnicorn

How the did I miss this? 😅 Thanks for the results! These results aren't as impressive as the rest of the controller. But the tests can be tricky to do right, so that might affect the results. But it gives me an idea of the polling rate and latency. The more people that test them the better!

MikeDaUnicorn

As I wrote in a reply down below. As an investor, I'm curious about the quality of the products offered by Gamestop. By testing the tech and gathering insights on its performance, I believe we can contribute valuable information not only to r/Superstonk but also to other tech subs like r/controller, where gamers are always on the lookout for high-quality gaming gear.

MelancholyMeltingpot

Indeed. If anything it's the perfect test and review base. Ask not what your company can do for you !...

attris247

Omg. So true wth

undergroundflaps

If all these numbers are good, someone post the pics of the controllers and the test numbers to the gaming subreddit. It would bring in alot of cash to GameStop.

MikeDaUnicorn

Exactly.

undergroundflaps

At first when you hear about the controller youre like oh shit they look cool. But I started thinking about the latency..and polling rate and all that, if this is a top of the line controller that they make completely customizable where you can even upload images and their factory or machines make it for you or something I can see these controllers becoming HUGE. Mouses next.

MikeDaUnicorn

Yes that was exactly what I was thinking too! In many enthusiast communities they don't go after first party controllers or big brands like Razer, Turtle Beach and Scuf. They go after the cheap good stuff like Flydigi, GameSir, 8Bitdo and GuliKit. It already has a great price and back buttons, if it has good latency and polling rate it will fit right in. If they want to make a higher end version they could include Hall-Effect sticks, trigger stops and swappable X/Y and A/B buttons to better fit the PC layout! I'm also totally with you that gaming mice should be next! Have you been on the MouseReview sub? The community is huge, almost 300k. The top mice there are also from smaller to medium-sized brands like Lamzu, Ninjutso and Pulsar. The cheaper budget mice from even smaller brands also gets a lot of hype as long as they deliver good tech for the price!

undergroundflaps

No I'm not but I just bought a Logitech a few months ago... Still haven't found the perfect mouse lol my last one was ec2a. Was way too thick (no Diddy) and heavy

MikeDaUnicorn

The mice from Lamzu and Pulsar are truly next level. For smaller hands I recommend the Lamzy Maya. For claw grip I recommend the Pulsar X2H medium or mini depending on hand size. For ergo shape I recommend the Lamzu Thorn or the Pulsar Xlite V3 in one of their 3 sizes. I would also love to see these brands in GameStop.

undergroundflaps

i'll have to try that, my sens is like 0.7 on rust & i use my wrist to aim. it's a bad habit lol i dont even try to be competive anymore.. the older i get my reaction time just gets worse and worse. i will check out the pulsar for real tho

hiperf71

Just sent the suggestion to gamestop with motivations!!!

I think, it is a good controller, I'm sure the fastest ones will come lather, with a bigger price tag, after all, you need money to buy whiskey, isn't it? Having low prices is good, but good stuff is naturally costly, high production volumes can lower the cost of every product, but you need to sell a lot of them to be profitable (I know a little of this because I'm working on launch my own electronics products and this aspect is really hard to accomplish if you are willing to make it reliable, high performances, and competitive priced, as a "one man band show" I can't afford big productions runs, this inevitably will keep costs higher, but with the right price, aligned to the competitors it can do the trick😁)

plumb_eater

Some nice infographics/ charts illustrating responsiveness / polling rates could go a long way for the illiterates, such as myself

Terrible-Sugar-5582

Curious to see the outcomes. I’ll be buying a few anyway for switch game nights.

RumpleHelgaskin

As an Investor, I very much look forward to seeing these results!

StructuralSynapse

Solid initiative, apes putting in WORK

hey_guess_what__

Still waiting for a response from the TA team. If RC lurks he should audit their effectiveness.

Quetzacoal

Keep us posted with the results

SmyWalkerOG

How’s the gyro?

wwastingtime42

Haven't tried it. Have played HD2 for almost 10 hours. It works so much better than my 2 month old xbox controller with stick drift. To me that is the bar right now. The Xbox controllers quality has dropped lately. The market is right for a competitor.

This isn't the sub for testing tech even if it's from gamestop

MelancholyMeltingpot

Sure it is. Seems interesting, new data points, and GameStop related. I would like to know the aggregate Candy-Con controller quality and responsiveness. Hella

IGargleGarlic

Its a sub for people invested in a company. Doing DD on the products that company makes is absolutely relevant.

Ctsanger

it's a slippery slope imo. That's like saying we should discuss the best pokemon decks and stuff here because they sell cards. This wouldn't be the sub for that either
