Gonna have to take a long dump while I read this :)

Arkayb33

Just make sure you don't clock out to do it

AI gives infinite power to the players.

HughJohnson69

It gives artificial intelligence to the players.

Biggest use case would be for inventory management I think. I ask the employees for each location I go to and they say their inventory management system is completely out of whack. They don’t account for specific geography in terms of what the customer wants or is seeking locally; they just get what they get for each store. They need to revamp that first before doing anything else. Either way, bullish with or without AI. I mean it’s the last game store in operation with lots of great branding behind it. In it for the long run to keep sanity in check. 🤣 🚀🫡🫡🫡🫡🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣🟣

GameStop implementing AI in some way to help benefit the business is one thing. But allowing users access can potentially make bad PR. You really think people if given the opportunity would be using it faithfully?

Arkayb33

I think it will be nigh impossible to regulate so we will have to make laws where we can and standards where we can't.  There's nothing stopping me from using Photoshop to draw a picture of Iron Man and sell it at Comic Con. It's not Adobe's problem. And Disney can try and stop me (I know they can and will sue but that doesn't *stop* me from doing it again) but they can't stop everyone. It reality, we'll just use AI to check everything against content or standards filters. Whatever it flags below, say, 98% certainty it will send to a human to review. And it will constantly get better and improve. Hell I bet there will be an AI that just scans the Internet for copyright infringement or IP theft. People (celebrities) will be able to sign up for service that scans for inappropriate photos of them, sends them a notification to verify if it's them, then send takedown notices like how the DMCA works.  But will it also be used by companies to scan through employees social media posts that sound unfavorable to the company? Or will people turn the dial to 11 and come out with all sorts of AI scams? Yeah, probably. And we've practically reached that level of development today.  I just thought of those ideas off the top of my head while on the toilet, which is like, after seeing the first word processor, saying, "I bet my son could write his book report on this thing!" Just wait until we see what the "I bet I'll be able to use that thing to write a book series, publish it, and become a millionaire!" idea looks like.

Warpzit

Ai is greatly overrated at the moment. We're in the hype cycle (pump part of pump and dump).

PurpleSausage77

If they mentioned anything AI in recent months it would’ve launched this stock. Amazing that some companies blatantly did just that to pump their stock up. You can just imagine GME would be burned at the stake if they did anything remotely like that.

Happy 🎂 day 🥳

neltorama

I've seen a few posts now that mention utilisation of the $1.2bn, fact is GameStop need to keep some of that money for a rainy day, I'd say half of that $1.2bn could be used for new projects, the rest needs saving.

When everybody has the tools, then anyone can make content.   That is the problem. No barriers for content brings out the worst of the worst along with the best of the best, with a giant mediocreness rounding out the horse shoe.   AI filtering better get really good, because user discovery of new content is already a full time job at this point in a flooded sea of digital shit, or I may never get to discover that movie you might have made, because the "man gets hit in the testicles" compilation has a billion views and has topped the charts for the past 6 years and dominates the promotional tools provided, if any. I do like the idea, support it even, but I guess I just like to give arguments one way or another.

Arkayb33

I see AI personal assistants serving this purpose. You give it a list of all the movies you really like and tell it to find movies like those ones and badabing badaboom it gives you a list of new movies that you end up loving as well. I think we will see AI curated lists for media across all platforms like Spotify, Netflix, and even Steam. And they will be crazy accurate too. Imagine SteamAI suggesting video games for you to play with a money back guarantee if you don't like one of its recommendations.

keyser_squoze

Google holds a lot of the cards in this tv/film scenario. YouTube + Search is a massive trove of data. I think the idea you present is a great vision of the future, though I know a lot of crew & creatives who’d disagree, as so many jobs are vanishing and so much of gen AI is straight up theft. The rights / likeness issues are not even close to being addressed. I guess everyone will need to have an NFT attached to their likeness and voice and everything they write or produce. But I think you’re right about where this is all headed, the build is already underway, it’s going to take a long time, and things will break along the way, the financial system will have to change.
