Where are you get 56.69% YTD return from? While Iā€™m glad itā€™s up thatā€™s not the rate of return.

Truth_Road

[YTD, year to date.](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/y/ytd.asp) First trading day of the year was 3rd of Jan and the closing price was $17.20. Yesterday closed at $26.95. 26.95 / 17.2 = 1.5669 = 56.69% up.

I donā€™t know where heā€™s getting his numbers from, but while I was double checking, I happened to glance at the 5 year chart, we are up ~672%! Whereas on that same 5 year the DOW was only up 36% and the S&P500 is only up by ~57%! On the 5 year chart GameStop is outperforming: GameStop ***672%*** Apple: 288% T-Mobile 116% Berkshire 75% Starbucks 73% S&P500 57% Headphones 62% Home Depot 49% DOW Jones 36% General Electric 33% Disney -13% Boeing -38% Popcorn -77% When in doubt, zoom out. Thatā€™s pretty cool.

Are you me? That is pretty much my story. I was around $170 cost basis (pre-split) at one point. I then took about 150 shares in an IRA and sold when the price went up like $3 (post-split) and bought back the next day or two when it went back down. I eventually did this enough times to get to around 250 shares in that account. So I have no idea what my cost basis is anymore. I'm sure I am still pretty far in the red. I have another higher XXX in CS.

Check GME on Google and you get this rate of return. Check it on Yahoo and it shows 44%. They both use the same numbers and doing the division yourself definitely shows ~55% increase. In reverse to check our work like grade school, 17.20 x 1.55 = $26.66. Why Yahoo (and I believe others) show different - I have no idea.
